Tanya & Dan's VR DCL!!!Dec 4, 2009 MK & Epcot Photoshoot Pics Posted

I have had so much to do and I'm not sure that it will all get done.

Here are some of my recent projects. These are not very good photos as I have stuff crammed all over my kitchen. However, I have made 800 paper flowers, 6 floral wreaths with them, made mickey fans, flower girl baskets, jewelry, petal cones, and lots more.

This is part of the candy buffet, my homemade sand ceremony jar, and some of our decor:

More of my decor - minus the red flowers. Those are always on my mantle

We glittered tree branches to place in a big vase for a wish tree. The kids helped me do this and it was so much fun, but DH said it looked like Tinkerbell and her friends threw a wild party in our house! :lmao:
Edgar270.jpg

I totally did not like any flower girl baskets out there and was not going to pay $75 for the only pink one I found - so I got out my material, glue gun, and headbands and butter containers to make them. :rotfl:
Here I am starting on them
Edgar263.jpg

Here they are close to being finished:

They turned out really cute! I'll have to get a finished pic of them.

Here's my flower girls trying on their dresses - and necklaces I made:

Here are some of the wreaths that I made. They take about 100 flowers per wreath. I have them in pink, yellow, and blue.

I was hoping to find my little silver "d" stickers and put them inside the mickeys on these, but I haven't located them yet. It's one of those things that may not get done.

We have decided to have a local bbq place do our catering, and Publix is making us a cake. We have a lot going on this week, including weddings to photograph in Ft. Myers, and easter pics, so this is going to take some of the burden off of us.

We ordered the Let's Celebrate cake from Publix with royal blue and fuschia icing, with swirls, polka dots, and hidden mickeys on it. The lady working there today was elderly - most people are in Punta Gorda - and she already thought that I was crazy wanting to make a wedding cake in those colors. Then I asked her to off set the tiers - so instead of stacking them in the middle, that they would be flush to one side. I want to put my castle topper on the top and Cindy and her prince and M&M down the sides.

Once we got through all of that, I then asked if she could make hidden mickeys in the icing decoration. I thought she was going to kill me! She was like, "What on earth are those? and Why would you want them?" Oh dear. Who knows what we'll get. I just hope it looks fun and tastes yummy.

I also have gotten all my white chocolate lollies made. Linens have all come in. Rose petals have all come in - have to have real or freeze dried b/c of being by the water. So I got 66 cups from flyboynaturals.com of hot and spicy petals.

I am almost done with favor/treat bags.

I really reaaally wanted to make a photobook for guest to sign with pics of me and Dan over the years, but I don't know if it will happen. Also want to make mickey rice krispie treats - but again it depends on time.

I will post more soon as I keep chugging along!

Everything looks amazing! Your hard work is paying off...No worries it will all get done...and you will look back and wonder "How did I finish all of that?" :goodvibes

my flower girl baskets were very similar, was at a fleamarket and there was a craft lady there, found two in burgendy and boom it was a dont deal.

2 things that came to mind- the little letter stickers check both hallmark- in with invitation stuff for weddings- or even the dollarstores- could be in either craft stuff or scrap booking stuff. good luick.

Thanks! I don't sleep or work normal hours. Plus, my schoolwork has gotten insanely difficult so I haven't had much time to play on here.

Thanks. We needed it plus some.
Hi, Tanya! Just checking in on ya! I'm hoping that the reception went well. I can't wait to read more!!
It went interestingly is all I can say. LOL! Leave it to us to have destruction and drama in our path.

I can not wait to hear all about it...Hope it was wonderful!!!
Some of it was amazing, and some of it was - well - hot!

Oops. Double post. Gotta love Century link, formerly Embarq, formerly Sprint who has been digging up lines this past week. LOL

Soooo...I really should be sleeping but DH is snoring like crazy, so I thought that I would try to give a little update. Waiting on photobucket to get some pics uploaded and my internet keeps going out. Oh well.

I have been suuuuper busy these last several weeks. My master's classes suddenly got really hard and time consuming as I have been working on my thesis. I have huge amounts of written work to turn in EVERY week. Plus, my dd and I have both started dance classes, and between running Drew to school and 4-H and dance, I think I don't have time for anything else.

On a positive note - we replaced our van!!!:woohoo: We got a newer one and upgraded to a Chrysler Town and Country. It was so worth the wait. The van has made us all happier. It was quite a quest and a journey for us to track down an affordable one. We found it, well in the happiest place on earth. Okay, not really at Disney, but really, really close to Disney.

I will post a pic if damn photobucket ever gets moving.

On another happy note - my wonderful DH was able to purchase this for me:

8888446bt.jpg

I've posted about it before. We found it online at some random private auction house, and I've been desperate to get it or something like it. I about fell out of my chair when the local jewelers came back with a quote of $1000 to $2000 for something similar when we were providing all the gold! Thankfully, this one was a fraction of the price and it is licensed by Disney. I do wish I new the background on it, but for now, I am so happy to see that little mickey on my ring finger. :cloud9:

Ummmm...at home reception. I am still not sure if I want to talk about it. LOL! I have severely mixed feelings and emotions about it and I have been avoiding it all together. I have like 900 pictures from that day, and I have only edited 1. Normally, I am all excited to put borders on pics and play with them, etc. But I don't even want to look at these. I have to say that in all honesty, it was a big let down. Not all of it, but mostly the majority of it. It's one of those things that left me wondering if we shouldn't have just done this at Disney and through DFTW. But then I am tormented about how much I LOOOVED our private VR on the ship, and think that we made the right decision. DH and I joke that if you put our 2 1/2 almost 3 weddings together, we would have 1 perfect one.

Ok - posting this before photobucket crashes my internet explorer.

I seriously do not even know where to begin with the reception. We ran around like chickens with our heads cut off in an effort to get everything done in time. We all worked really, really, really hard to make it nice and not ghetto. Most of all we wanted it to be a fun family experience. Of course, it was anything but that. I love my family b/c they are my family, but if I had a choice, I would never pick them. Things have gotten so bad since then, that I barely speak to my own mother. Come on, now. This was supposed to be a celebration.

Quick break down of things that went totally wrong: Our cake

We went back and forth over Dan making a cake and paying to have one made. I really wanted something fun and pretty, but not completely weddingish. We finally decided to fork out some money for someone else to make the cake to take the stress off of our hands. This turned into BIG mistake.

Besides it melting- yes it was supposed to be made out of fondant and not buttercream, it had like everything wrong with it. Wrong flavors, wrong colors, the tiers weren't set right or the right size - so we couldn't get our toppers on there. It was so bad that no one at it other than where we cut it and we took it back to Publix and got a full refund. Oh yes I did go all Bridezilla.

Weather

It has been freezing cold like every week leading up to the reception. It was so cold that we were looking at the possibility of renting heaters to keep the guests warm. Well, we had the hottest, record-breaking day of the year at that point. It was literally like 98 degrees. This made for melting bride and groom, melting guests, melting ice, melting CAKE, and melting candy bar. It was miserable. We all were miserable. Now this is FL, and you would think that we would be used to it, but we aren't.
VowRenewal018.jpg

Plus, it was crazy windy that day. Not just by the water windy, but like knock you down windy. It totally made me regret the outdoor location. By that point, we were just too tuckered out to even attempt to use our back up plan.

Venue

So we paid quite a bit of money to reserve huge parts of the park for the entire day. Only to have the park triple book us!! Yes, two other weddings at the same time in the same exact location made for a disaster. The city is saying that it was a clerical mistake and they can't do anything about it. Nope, won't even refund part of our money.

Decor

100 degree heat and real flowers don't mix. Neither does 100 degree heat and latex mickey ballons. They looked quite obscene after a couple of hours. I don't know how disney keeps them from doing that, but I think that it has something to do with the fact that they have them inside the other balloons.

Before going obscene:

Clothing

Well, me and my dress have issues already. Add on to that 2 antidepressants and some cortisone, and it makes for one chunky bride who is gaining weight. Ugghhh! Then we let the kids' nana dress them and bring them to the reception, and ummm...like Drew had on two vests and no jacket!! Was she drinking? She really means well, but at least make an effort.

Yes there's more. But I'll get to it later. I do have to say that we had certain things that were fun and worth it! The food was awesome - other than the evil cake. We had a local bbq joint cater and it was great. We had so much food left over that we ate it for like a week afterwards. Great food. Yummy, yummy!

Horse drawn carriage!!!! The best and most fun part of the entire day.

They were amazing. We had such a romantic time getting picked up at the hotel and driven all through town down to the park. Then after the ceremony, they stayed the entire time and gave rides all through the park to all of the guest. Awesome! All the guests loved it.

My dove release!!! So happy that I got to do it. It meant a lot to me and Dan symbolically, and was quite - well - amazing again. On the same note, our family jewelry exchange and our sand ceremony were really special. I am so happy to have the little vase with our sand all mixed together in it sitting on our mantel.

My flowers. This goes under the mixed category. Dan got me lots and lots of roses in a variety of colors. These are my favorite flowers! We had so many of them and so many rose petals, that I felt like I wanted to put them all on the bed and swim in them. They were intoxicating. I actually had so many that I threw together a bouquet of real ones at the last minute and LOVED it. It was prettier than my Disney one. You can see it in this pic:
VowRenewal744.jpg

The bad thing about real flowers is that after 3 hrs in that heat, they started to turn to mush. The ones in my bouquet did surprisingly well, but the ones in all the vases looked really sad by the end of the day.

In addition, several of our friends and SIL worked REALLY, REALLY hard to help us pull all of this together, and they were so sweet and special to do that. I cannot thank them enough. I don't know what I would have done without them. But then there is the family... Aaaahhhh! I just want to run away (to Disney) screaming. Really.

I think I am going to catch some zzzz's while I can and try to get some pics uploaded into photobucket tomorrow, so I can fill everyone in on a few details.

Good to see you posting again! So sorry to hear about the problems with your at-home reception . What a shame about the melting cake:sad1:. Glad there were some positive parts -- the horse and carriage looked beautiful.:goodvibes

Bless your heart, Tanya! I'm sorry to hear that things didn't go so well for the reception. I'm glad that you were able to get a refund at Publix. I couldn't believe the cake!

Oh Tanya, i'm so sorry your day was not perfect. sometimes it's like we spend so much time planning something that it's bound to be less than our expectations. Hopefully when you get to your pictures you'll find something else you enjoy about the day.

 I'm sorry your day wasn't perfect, but I'm very grateful that your DCL VR was amazing for you.

PS I love the buttons on the bags! Sooo cute!

I'm so happy to see back on the boards. That's such a shame things didn't go good. I can't believe your cake melted and all the other things wrong with it, but I am happy you did get a refund for this. The horse carriage looks lovely though. Here's some hugs:grouphug:

I am sorry to hear that things didn't go as perfectly as you had hoped, but it is nice to hear that you were still able to find the positives in your day!! That is a hard thing to do if you are disappointed. But I think that your pictures turned out lovely - especially the ones of the horse and carriage, and you with the balloons before they went wonky.
