Tangled Play and Greet

Based on the two meet and greets that I watched, here's how it works:

The kids come in and gather around the table (the first group of the day didn't color, but the second one did) while the parents line up along the ramp. This is not a free-for-all. The parents line up in the same order they were outside the theatre.

Right before Rapunzel and Flynn come out, the kids are instructed to give their coloring sheets and crayons to their parents.

Flynn brings Rapunzel out. They go to the table, walk around it and greet the kids. The table is an oval shape. Rapunzel takes her place at the end of the table closest to the entrance of the theatre. Flynn takes his place at the end of the table closest to the ramp.

The kids, Rapunzel, and Flynn all take hands and dance around the table.

After the dancing, the kids are instructed to join their parents for the meet and greet.
We went on Thurs. Jan. 13th and got into the 3:15pm. For ours, it was a free-for-all of parents who knew the drill speed walking up the ramp. We didn't know to rush into line, so we ended up close to the end. We waited just over an hour in line outside, then waited 30-40 minutes for our turn at a photo. The limited number of people who could participate each hour seemed ridiculous considering this is a popular new movie. But we wanted to do this because Tangled was the first movie DD saw in a theater and she was wearing her Rapunzel dress that day. Afterwards, we were very glad we did this, and I'd want to do it again, but I don't know if I'd wait that long again.

We have never done Belle's Storytime as DD was a little young on our last trip when this was open. So while I can't compare it to that, I thought this was a pretty well-done "play and greet." There were Tangled-themed suns painted on a few banners and the oval table, as well as lanterns hanging overhead. The CMs and PhotoPass people were awesome at ours. The Rapunzel and Flynn were stellar. Flynn always knew when a child only wanted her picture with Rapunzel (in our set about half the children got a photo with both and half just with Rapunzel). He was really in character, chatted, showed us the "smolder." My DD was a little nervous, but Rapunzel greeted her and just took her by the hand, led her to the photo spot and chatted for a good minute. We were given Tangled activity/coloring pages and crayons at the exit.

There were 2 Disney survey people at the exit for the show before us and ours (possibly all day, but I didn't see). So I did the survey. I was asked my least favorite part of the play-and-greet. That's easy, the wait! But seriously, my suggestion was to figure out a way that you don't have to wait the hour to get in, then 40 minutes to get your picture. Or at least let the kids return to the table to color until their turn. Actually I originally thought that's what the Pasqual stuffed animal was for - giving it to the next kid in line. From the questions, I got the impression that in the future Rapunzel may appear elsewhere and that more interactive meet-and-greets are being planned for other characters. It would be great if Disney keeps this play-and-greet and also have another place you could just get a photo with Rapunzel.

It took us a few tries to get in when we were there in December.

In fact, we ended up waiting in line from the END of one session until the next. DD wanted to see Repunzel so bad and we were the first set of people turned away one time. They only let so many people in line.

But we made priceless memories! Lainey was in a Repunzel dress and Repunzel made a huge deal of it.

Worth it, worth it, worth it!

My 3-year-old is going to love this, thanks for the tips. How long is this going to be going on for?

So the meet and greet starts at 915? Is this going to be like the fairies at Toon Town where you need to get there right as the park opens?

I wouldn't do it any other way!

They spent a decent amount of time with each child. Here is DD:

This is too cool. Flynn is my sons good friend. I can't wait to show my son. :woohoo:

Flynn was AWESOME. He really WAS Flynn. All the gestures and mannerisms and facial expressions. I was quite impressed, I'm sure your son will enjoy it too.
