I booked my airline and I'm flying into Tampa since it was cheaper. Since we wanted to stay one night at the ocean it works out rather well. Anyone have a good budget hotel to stay at. I would like it to be on the water. We'll probably just visit some small shops and spend a few hours at the beach before heading to Disney. Any tips for the area would be great. Thanks

We've stayed at the Barefoot Beach Resort in Madeira Beach. It's on the water and 1 block from John's Pass Village. My only complaint was that the rooms aren't very sound-proof.

A nicer hotel is the Doubletree in North Redington Beach. They're on the Gulf, have a tiki bar on the ocean, balconies overlooking the Gulf, a restaurant on-site, room service and the hotel is very well kept. They also have less expensive rooms that overlook the intracoastal waterway. But I personally love the ocean view!

I'm sure Clearwater would have some good hotels as well, but we've typically stayed in the Redington Beach/Madeira Beach area.

Hope you enjoy your stay!
