Ok my fellow disers - I've asked questions here and no one has let me down...
I would like to know if there is anyone out there that has lived in Tampa? Can you tell me about the area (good family neighborhoods, good schools, etc>) I know all about the theme parks now wondering about the area. Considering a move there.

Any help would be great! I am already smiling thinking how close to WDW I would be!! :)

We don't live in Tampa, but Palm Harbor. We like it because it is about 20-30 minutes from anywhere we want to go: the beach, the St. Pete Times Forum, Busch Gardens, the Bucs' stadium. The schools are great and we love it here. Good luck with your search!

Thanks Steph - going to do some research on Palm Harbor. Does you area have community pool and such? Subdivision name? You can PM me if you prefer.

Thanks!;)

I don't live in Tampa, but whenever I go to disney we always head down to Tampa for the day. They have an incredible zoo and aquarium. The aquarium is the most beautiful relaxing place I've ever been too. If I lived closer, we would be there all the time. It even has a mini waterpark for the kids to play after you're done seeing the fishies. Too fun!

I don't live in Tampa, but just over the bay in St. Petersburg. We have lived here for about 10 years now, and we love it. Most of this area is all built up, so there is no "new" construction or neighborhoods. Most are already established. We like that we're close to the beach and to Tampa. We live just over the bridge from Tampa in N. St. Pete in a subdivision that's been around for about 40 years. There are about 200 homes, that are mostly 3-4 bedrooms, 2-3 baths and 2 car garages. We are not on the water, but we are close. We live close to everything, but we're kind of tucked away too.

I live right outside of Tampa, in a suburb called Brandon. We're right down the road from Tampa, depending on traffic and where you want to get to, we can be there in 15-25 minutes.

There is so much here, I don't know where to even begin. Are you looking for something more in the city or something a little more out? A few of the places around Tampa, but not too city are Riverview, Brandon, Bloomingdale and Valrico. These were all pretty much cow pastures up until a couple of years ago, so most of the construction is new ... though you can find some that's been around for awhile.

While we're not right off the water, that is sometimes a bit better. There are plenty of rivers nearby with amazing parks and such. We go to a state park often for great fishing and hiking, yet we're close enough to work and play downtown.

St. Pete is also really pretty, like the pp said. I love going over there, and the beaches are great.

Good luck on your decision.
