I'm 6'0". I hated, HATED being tall when I was young (I reached my full height when I was 15 or 16), but I've sort of accepted it now and don't quite feel so self-conscious about it all the time. I still get ignorant comments from strangers, though. Sometimes I feel like a total freak because of the attention my height brings to me. I hate being called big (I'm fairly thin on my good days ;) ), and I HATE being asked if I play basketball. Where am I supposed to play basketball at age 32, anyway? :confused3 :rotfl:

Shopping for pants is awful, too. My mom (who is 5'9", which was pretty tall back in her day) has always joked about suing clothing stores for discrimination. Why does every major department store have a petite department when they don't carry any tall or long length clothes? And why aren't there ever any tall departments? :headache:

My biggest gripe about being tall is that I feel weird wearing heels (not to mention I would tower over DH who is my height). I LOVE the way heels look, but when I try them on I feel like a drag queen.

From the pictures I remember seeing of you, I think you are beautiful. I wouldn't worry about anyone thinking you are a drag queen.

I'm 5'10" but I don't really consider that to be tall even though apparently I'm in the tall club. My boyfriend is 6'3" so maybe that's why I feel so short since I'm always looking up at him!

Did you just call me short!?!??!:sad2: First I'm discriminated against and now you have the nerve to call me SHORT!?!?!!?:furious: Don't make me come over there and stand on a chair so I can get in your face!

Shelby:)

Oh no! I just know the PC police will be knocking on my door at any minute. :rotfl:

OK, so what's the correct term? Vertically challenged, diminutive damsels, suffering from excess gravity??? ;) :rotfl:

I clicked open this thread/poll assuming it would pertained to me but HAH, I'm too short -- I'm 5'8 1/2" too short.

Yes, me too, I love being tall (but short with you gals). Mini skirts, pants, clothes look better on tall woman.

Lots of people always refer to me as tall, I'm taller than most of my friends.

Another not tall enough person here at 5' 8 1/2". I hate finding pants. Never long enough in the average size, and talls are hard to find, especially in the "cute" styles.

curious question -- are your children tall? and were you ALWAYS tall growing up??

My youngest three children are not so tall, just below the 50% rate.

I was exactly that way growing up, the second smallest in my entire grade, as always referred to as "skinny bones and short". I shot up late in high school. I'm hoping my "shorter" kids will inherit that gene and be the same way.

I see a lot of tall parents/tall children in school.

curious question -- are your children tall? and were you ALWAYS tall growing up??

I don't have kids yet, but, yes, I was always tall growing up. I was always a head taller than most other kids in my classes. In class pictures, I always had to stand on the back row with the boys.... and I was taller than even all of them! :sad2:

I am 1m85, which is 6'0" or 6'1" (OK, I hope I haven't made a fool of myself by typing these measurements, it's difficult in American, lol!)

I used to be the one that was made fun of, because I was tall. I was in an all-girls school, and I was the tallest girl in school. Nowadays, I don't mind to wear 3 inch heels, and if people make a nasty remark about the fact that I'm tall, I tell them it's not my fault THEY forgot to grow when they were younger. When people make the stupid remark "did you know you're so tall", they get a "thanks to tell me that, I hadn't noticed it" as an answer.

I also find it difficult to find pants and long-sleeved shirts/ sweaters. I like the 3/4 that's IN now, no one can tell it's too short, lol! It's also difficult for me to find shoes that are big enough. What do you want, most shoes sold over here are Italian, and Italian women are petite!

It's also not easy to find a partner; Now, I don't mind he's an inch or two shorter, but would feel incomfortable with someone who is shorter than that (I think). However, most men are intimidated by the fact that i'm at least a hair taller than they. :( And if I find someone that doesn't mind the fact that i'm tall, they are not Mr Perfect after tall (cfr my other thread about my break-up :sad1: :sad1: :sad1: :sad1: )

I also don't like all the nasty remarks I get whenever i'm at Disney. yes, I'm tall, but that doesn't mean I always have to be in the back for parades, shows, ... because even I can't see from there! Just be there in time, just like I do, and you'll be able to sit in front of me instead of behind me!

ETA: I was a very small baby, 48 cm, while most babies are 50-51 cm. However, from the moment I was not a baby anymore, I was always tall.

ETA 2: One good thing: whenever I gain a pound or two (or even more), it doesn't show as much, because I have more inches to spread them around! :cheer2:

Ummmmmm...am I tall enough?

4'11". That's tall, right????:confused3

Wow, I'm 5'8 and I've always been the tallest out of my friends. :goodvibes

Another tall girl checking in. :thumbsup2 I'm 5'11" and I have Always been tall. I was the tallest in my class till 7th grade when a few of the boys started growing.

My problem is finding long sleeves. They are finally making tall pants easier to find, but I guess they think our arms don't need the extra length? :confused3 But they do!! I also agree that if stores carry petite sections they should carry tall sections!

I love being tall though. Wish my hubby were a little taller. He's about half an inch shorter than me, but I can live with that. ;)

The best guys are all over 6' anyway.;)

 My DH is a couple inches shy of 6', and he's GREAT!

I myself am 6'1". Sometimes it definitely sucks being tall. I don't mind it so much now, except for the heels thing, but I hated it growing up. I've been called amazon and Jolly Green Giant so many times... :sad2:

Another 5'11" here! I hated it when I was young but don't mind it now. I actually moved next door to a woman who is taller than me! (Of course, she is far thinner as well, but she is really nice so I can forgive her for that :rotfl2:)

My DH is the same height as me so heels are limited for me.

I voted 5' 11", but I'm actually 5' 10.5". :teeth:

TALL CHICKS RULE!!! :cool1:

I'm glad you started this thread....we need a DIS tall chicks club!! :flower3:

5'11" here. Used to be thin and model. I still feel like I'm a circus freak.

Cons:shoes, pants, sleeves and having people stop and look at you when you walk by.

Pros:being able to intimadate bullies !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!;)

No offense meant to your less than 6' husband. Some of my best friends are under 6'. ;)

Sorry about the rude comments you've heard. The definiton of "amazon" is "a strong women".

You don't suppose they stop and look because they think you are pretty? Still kind of rude but not in a mean way.
