My sister posted this on FB and gave me permission to share.

Important stuff here! I cannot imagine what all she has been through. She is back home now after 146 days at sea - and yes, she says if they called and said “Your flight back to the port is tomorrow” she would be on the plane.

“Please, before you bombard your cruise worker friends/family with questions of when are you going back and blanket comments like “I wish our cruise wasn’t cancelled”

Stop. Think. Rephrase or stay silent. Also, read this article. It is not perfect, nothing is... but maybe it will help put things in perspective a little.

And yes, I would go back tomorrow if they called. I wish your cruise wasn’t cancelled either.“

So true! DS used to be a music manager for Princess Cruise Lines (on about 8 different ships during his 2009-2014 tenure) and is still in touch with many who were impacted by sudden alterations, mostly due to Covid 19. Thanks for the suggestions. I'm so thankful he gave it up before Covid 19 came along.

Yeah. I know people mean well, but what crew members have been through is unimaginable.

My sister has said multiple times “We may all be in the same storm, but we are NOT all in the same boat.” And she was clear that even went for crew - both within a line and on different lines.

I am in NYC and not at home, but she has set some pretty solid boundaries with my parents - the biggest of which was to not ask questions and let her talk as she is ready. I do think one of the hardest things especially for her was that as they disembarked people, they were not able to say good-bye face to face, and definitely could not hug each other.

People forget... Our cast members have lives and families... They have been through hard times and may still be experiencing them. I am sure they would rather have their normal life-regular schedule or working, being with family etc. just like the rest of us. Watch your words, be kind.
