While reading the thread on the disney secrets/factoids..I came across something that has been on my mind for a couple of days now. People keeps talking about the trees and trashcans that talk??? From what i gather they are robotic, are they there for just entertainment? Do they look like real trashcans? And whats up with the trees...I am leaving on Friday (YEA!!!!) and just trying to gather some info.

Also...one person said something about trying to find Devine in AK what is she? Why is she hiding her face. He said something about finding her 3 times and actually taking her picture.

Thanks!

hi! I don't have your answers but will bump you up so maybe someone else will. Oh I do think I know what devine is (I heard on these boards ) she is someone who walks around AK disquised as a vine with leaves etc.. I'm sure someone will correct me if I"m wrong.:wave2:

We saw "Push" the talking trash can in Tomorrowland the 2 times we've been to Disney. Its a trash can the moves around and talks, If you look around you will spot the person making him move and talk. It does look like a regular trashcan but its usually moving. Haven't seen any talking trees or Devine yet.

This comes from AllEarsnet.com:
"One of the most enchanting, yet most overlooked, experiences at Disney's Animal Kingdom occurs about 15 minutes before the park even opens -- The Awakening. Rafiki, the wise old baboon from The Lion King, rewards early risers with a greeting of the new day and is soon joined by many costumed characters, such as Terk, Timon and King Louie, as well as real creatures and their handlers. All this great start to the day costs you is a little early morning sleep -- it's worth it!
Have you ever seen PUSH, the walking, talking trash can in the Magic Kingdom's Tomorrowland? Then you won't be surprised when you stumble across Wes Palm, an equally eccentric and entertaining palm tree that teases guests throughout the morning in the Oasis. (Wes Palm... West Palm Beach... get it? I love plays on words!) Take a few minutes and try to spot Wes Palm's "traveling companion" -- he's really quite clever at blending in with the oblivious crowds. (I hear there's also a talking recycling can, called Pipa, that performs at Conservation Station, but I've never seen it myself -- definitely worth keeping an eye out for!)
Another crowd-pleaser that you may walk past without realizing it is DeVine -- creeping kudzu never looked so good! DeVine is really a performance artist dressed in foliage from the top of her green-painted head to the bottom of her stilt-wearing toes. She rests unobtrusively against a tree or a wall, suddenly springing to life to tease an unsuspecting passerby or chase down disrespectful teenagers or others who dare make light of her art."

"Wes Palm" is a talking/rolling/moving tree that you can find at the entry of AK. He has own base and rolls around greeting guests - He's usually there right at park opening - but not always.

Devine is also at AK. "She" is a living Vine that you can sometimes spot b/t Harambe Village & the Birds' Theatre (Sorry, don't know that name of that one!). It is on the main pathway around the Tree of Life - opposite where the drums are set up on the backside.

I've spotted Wes Palm on 3 occasions, all at park opening time at AK (where you enter the park). I've spotted PUSH at tomorrowland at various times. I've also encountered a talking trash can (not robotic, though :)) at Electric Umbrella at Epcot.
Have a great trip and I hope you find these fun robots!

We saw Devine on the main walk way between Africa and Asia. She was great. Got great pictures of her ...including her face. My husband was in love:tongue:

Hi! My girls had on GOH badges at AK opening...anyway, Wes Palm comes from nowhere SCREAMING my daughter's name and chasing us down! He was amazing and really had us laughing. In fact, as he was paying attention to my girls, two rowdy boys started climbing all over him. He asked them to stop politely, but as they didn't, he said,"you see that big security man over there? I'm gonna get him to throw you right out of here if you don't get off. Thank you." So funny to see them scramble!! The expressions on my girls faces as this tree talked to them was almost as amazing as I imagine the camera/microphone system must be on that guy!!!

They are great. My DDs loved "Push" the trashcan, his name is right on the lid :)

Wes Palm was also cool and my DD2 chased down the trashcan at the conservation station and gave him a hug and a kiss.

The trashcans notice things about the people and also ambush people. Great fun!!

My roomie and I got harassed by the talking palm tree in AK the second we walked in the park. There was a water line break in Orlando which shut off the water to our hotel so we had to begin the day with no showers and not able to brush our teeth. When we walked into the park we headed straight to the bathroom and the palm tree came out beside the building. We were wearing shorts because we thought it was supposed to be warm (which it wasn't..grrr) and he kept saying "Oooh look at me...On Spring Break in sunny Florida and I'm wearing shorts in 40 degree weather! Oooh don't I feel stupid now" Hilarious but def not what I wanted to hear that early on a morning that got off to such an awful start!

We tried to find Devine in AK but forgot to ask her where abouts until amost 3 PM. One of the CM's called around and told us Devine had retired for the day. We headed to the parade and realized that Devine was probably in a different costume and part of the parade since so many of the figures are on stilts.

So if you want to see Devine ask about her location in the morning before the parade starts!

I'm not sure if it is still there, but there used to be a talking water fountain in Epcot. It was located in the area between Innoventions and the Land pavillions. We stumbled across it on our 2000 trip.

Yes there is!

We were at EPCOT with a friend (who is a CM) and he made me drink the water from that fountain - totally made me laugh out loud like a kid!

And the funnest (is that a word?) part about the moving/talking trashcans and palm tree is finding the guy controlling him!

We were outside AK waiting for the gates to open and saw a talking trashcan...since we had time, we really searched the crowd for the guy...when we finally spotted him, it really surprised us how close he actually was to the trash can. But the laughs and smiles coming from the kids he was harassing was priceless!

We "met" Push in Tomorrowland several years ago. It was Christmas time and my kids had on Christmas sweatshirts that had their names on them. A trash can comes toward us calling my DS by his name! It was great. My son was 6 and kept pushing open the can's "mouth" to see if someone was inside. When DS would open the can, Push would say "ahhhhh".

We've seen Wes Palm twice. He is great also. Once was just inside the gate and once was just outside. My DS had on an Alabama shirt and he was calling him Alabama. (My daughter was very shy when she was younger and she would hang back and watch instead of getting involved.) I was videotaping and Wes Palm was saying stuff like "look at Mrs. Speilburg".

THey are great, if you see them go over and talk with them.

We saw Wes Palm in October- he came up to my son and said, "Looks like somebody got their hair done in the Magic Kingdom" (Jack had a Mickey in colored gel on the back of his head) then Wes continued on saying he was going to ask his "gardener" to maybe put some orange in his leaves. It was lots of fun!!

In Feb it was cold and I had on a green coat and Wes Palm kept saying I was his relative and what a lovely shade of green . What a hoot. Devine is just that ...devine. I was amazed by her him it?
