Talking Mickey - what's he like?

Talking Mickey is quite amazing, a great use of recent tech. Also, pay attention to the posters in the lobby while waiting to meet him. Occasionally, they move and change!

Neither of those things happen for all guest visits.
He does not always do a magic trick.
(And the "call by name" thing is not a regular occurrence with many guests.)

I went in (as a solo guest) with a family of three (mum, dad and tiny girl, maybe 18 months at most) and she freaked, so they were in and out really quickly and I got some time alone with the main mouse... but I have to admit I found him a little creepy! :confused3 I mean, I enjoyed it, and I'm glad I went but I was definitely a bit weirded out there! :earboy2: Worth a try though, and they will always let you just say a quick hello and escape if your little one really can't handle it!

My (then) 7 1/2 month old was fascinated by him. He loves Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, so he got all excited when he realized who it was. This was also his first character interaction, and it definitely didn't traumatize him or anything (we have great photos of him with his hand on his pal Mickey Mouse's shoulder). In fact, he really enjoyed all the other character interactions afterwards.

However, Mickey said something along the lines of he should enjoy being carried around now because before he knows it, he will be grown up and needing to get a job. DH and I found that a little weird, but we look forward to telling him that Mickey said he needs to get a job in the future.

Went as a group of four 20-year olds (guys and girls) and we all thought it was amazing. He interacted, loved the Minnie ears and asked where we were from, pretending he had never heard of it. As a kid who grew up watching Mickey, it's like a dream come true =]

We got to see him two years ago when he first started using his voice. I thought it was a cool experience. Probably even better now that he knows your names. I will post a video if anyone wants to see.

Does he always talk? In '13 we were there when it was only random and must have missed the talking one.

He doesn't always talk. Everything has to be working correctly for Mickey to have a voice. If one of many components is not working, he'll be regular/non-talking Mickey.

There is a big difference between what happened with Talking Mickey in 2013 and what happens currently.

Mickey will most likely talk.
Yes, there can be technical problems and he can be mute, then.
But, generally, you can find him chatting.

Did someone say he is controlled from animal kingdom? How does that work?

Someone said it.
It might even be true. ;)

No need to connect up across that many miles (although they COULD, of course.)

Same here....and I went to all the other Mickey Mouse but MK. We had an ADR at Chef Mickey's so I didn't bother. By the 2nd MK day, we went for Ticker and saw Snow White on the way out and didn't go back for Mickey. Oh gosh.....

A must for this year.

DGD and I visited him in Dec. She loved him. She was 17 mo old

We met him last week. He didn't address us by name, but did have our kids run around the room with him "flying" like airplanes. See my sig pic below. It was cute. My 4yo was excited to finally meet someone that would talk to him! He didn't understand why none of the others talked.
