Does every rider have to disembark at Caribbean Beach? we are staying at Art of Animation

Having stayed at Art of Animation several times, we love the Skyliner and would have a hard time booking a resort without Skyliner access because of the convenience. It's so much more relaxing than the bus system, and except for busy times, you'll often have a private cabin for your party.

The transfer at Caribbean Beach is very quick and easy.

It can be quick and easy or it can't be. I rode it from HS to Epcot in Dec. at mid day and stood in line 20 min. at the hub.

It is far from perfect BUT, i think it will be the way Disney moves people in the future.
Not CM dependent. Which keeps cost down.
Not millions per mile (like monrail) but $100,000.

My family thinks it’s great. We sometimes ride it even when we don’t need to because the kids want to ride the “gondola ride.” It’s usually only crowded at peak times of the day (park open, park close), and even then, the line moves quickly unless something goes wrong.

Also love the Skyliner. We've stayed at most of the Disney Resorts, incluing Deluxe - and our family's favorite is still Pop Century, due in large part to the Skyliner. It's a great way to travel (except when there's lightning), and a perfect start or end to the day. And yes, you tranfer at the hub, but it's not much of a hassle at all.

We loved the Skyliner when we were there in May and only experienced long wait times when leaving Epcot or Hollywood Studios for the night. We stayed at AoA Finding Nemo. Honestly, though, my family thought they ran it well. While yes, there was a wait because it was the end of the night, we thought the cast members did a fantastic job making sure everything ran smoothly. We never actually experienced a long wait when at the Caribbean Beach station during that week, never more than 5 minutes, probably not even reaching that.

We’re actually going to be staying at the Boardwalk Inn in September for 2 nights and are planning on riding the Skyliner again to go to AoA.

We spent 8 days at AoA in June. I was very nervous about the Skyliner due to my fear of heights. I took my anti-anxiety meds before riding the first 2 times but after that I was ok to ride without taking them. I ended up really liking the Skyliner. We used it numerous times (at least 10 that I can remember) during the week because we went to EP & DHS several times. We never really had any issues. We had a few brief stops while in "flight" but they each lasted less than a minute. We didn't have any long waits at CBR -- including the day we were rope dropping for Early Entry at DHS. Every time we came through that hub, we would basically get off of the Skyliner, walk the very short distance to the line we needed to get on and pretty much walked into the next car to continue our journey. We did notice that there were always 2 lines for each of the loading areas at CBR (basically a split queue). Almost every time we came through there, everyone seemed to get in one line (I think they just followed the person in front of them without looking at signage). We'd always go to the other side of the queue and would get right on to the next car.

We enjoyed using the Skyliner so much that we actually found ourselves really missing it on the days we had to take a bus (to MK, AK, & DS). We had really good bus service, but the Skyliner line was soooo much faster than waiting for a bus. And there were only 2 times all week that there were long lines and both times we expected them (rope drop for DHS and leaving after the fireworks at EP). The DHS rope drop line moved really fast and for EP, we just strolled around World Showcase and then sat on a bench near the Skyliner station to wait for the line to go down. We didn't get on until about 10:45 that night. Our son and his family actually went straight to the Skyliner after the fireworks (we watched the fireworks from the area between Germany & China) and they got on at about 10:30 that night (they were pushing a double stroller so I'm sure that slowed them down a bit in the crush of people heading to Skyliner).

We had planned to try a new resort on our next trip (we've stayed at AoA and Pop a total of 8 times) but after experiencing Skyliner, we're probably going to stay at one of those resorts again when we go in 2024 (CBR doesn't really interest us).

I have flown on it a few times. Lol
The only station you can fly through is the Riviera Station. The main reason you have to disembark at each station is the safety issue of the open doors to the open pit. When you exit the cabin, the cabin goes around the corner to the load side and when it does, the doors are open to the open pit.
During the summer months, there is a lot of lightning and down time.
The system can move a lot of people per hour.
Its one of the safest and fastest mode of transportation on property but always remember, it is one big hunk of moving, unforgiving steel, it’s nothing to play around on.
It’s a great system and a system operated by hundreds of great cast members who’s main job is to keep you and your family safe.

I looked for you when we were using Skyliner last month but never saw you. Definitely would have introduced myself (as some crazy person you don't even know but who reads your posts on the DIS boards. :D ) if I had seen you!

You didn’t check the break room. Lol
Well thank you!! We rotate within the stations and with breaks and lunch, it is hard to know where any of us will be.
We know what station we are working at a week in advance but that could change at any time.
Your not crazy!! There are quite a few people come up to me and say, are you Zerf? Lol. One night at studios I was at unload, doors opened and a guy said, Zerf! Caught me completely off guard. Lol A few of the positions are safety critical and we can’t take our attention off the cabins. But the guy waited for me till I rotated out of that position. Lol I talked to him for years on the boards and never met him. Knew who I was right away. Lol
Its hard, unless your at greeter, you can’t have any form of a conversation with someone. Shoot me a PM next time you come down. I’m having the time of my life. I love it!! They wouldn’t even have to pay me and I’d still show up. Lol

I experienced that once. The handicap loading loop wasn't in use on the Epcot line, so they had to slow it down constantly to load in the regular line.

I'll definitely send you a PM the next time we're down. Thought about doing that this time but...you know...the whole crazy lady stalker thing. Didn't want to be met by security at the Skyliner station. :D Prior to your move to FL, you lived in the same general area of PA that we live in.

I didn’t see this part before, to make it easier on yourself and sleeping kids at night, if you use an inline double stroller not a side by side, you don’t have to fold them, you can push them right on.
Just taking it for a ride it’s not a big deal but if your using it as resort transportation, it saves you a lot of hassle.

They did have an inline double. They had no issues getting it on and off the Skyliner, just maneuvering it through the crowds to get there. :) I did witness a guest having a meltdown at the AoA/Pop station one day. She had a side-by-side double and was insisting that she did *not* need to fold it up -- that she had called weeks earlier to make sure she wouldn't have to fold up a double stroller on the Skyliner. The poor CM (a young kid) was trying to explain the stroller requirements and the woman just kept having her meltdown. Part of me wanted to hang around and watch the continuing meltdown, but I used my better judgement and got in the car and headed to wherever it was we were going that day.

The reason for folding a double side by side, there is about a half inch on both sides to fit through the door. The doors have a rubber door seal on them. If you knock the door seal off, that cabin can’t be boarded till fixed. Now, it don’t take long but it does slow the process down. A lot of people have a hard time pushing a single stroller on while moving, I would have to practice.
In each station on the load side, generally on the lower part of the ramps, there are a series of brass pins in the ground. That’s how we measure if you are within required width restrictions.
Cms feel bad, trust me, we do. More than once I’ve seen a mother, baby in hand, carrying a double stroller with two little ones. I can’t take there hands, I want too but I cant but what I can do is slow the line a bit, guide the little ones in behind mom.
