We're headed down for a 3 day stay at Universal soon and I'm wondering about refillable mugs. I have found some info on purchasing regular refillable mugs and Coke Freestyle refillable mugs...
Does anyone have any current, up to date info on pricing/locations or any other info that might be helpful. We're staying at Royal Pacific. Thanks!!!

Following. I'm curious too. They seem like a pretty good deal.

I have heard that you can get filtered water and ice out of any of the freestyle machines with any cup. That would be awesome.

They're tiered in pricing. We were there 2 weeks ago, so my memory is a little fuzzy. I think if you buy one, they are $12.99 each, don't remember how much two were , but if you buy 3 or more, they were $9.99 each. We bought three both days we were at the park. Well worth it on two very hot days.

The more you buy, the cheaper they are each. The price is for one day and you can pay each day you want them reactivated. We paid the first day and just got water for each day after. Water is free and plenty of stations through the parks.

If you are going to drink soft drinks or sprts drink, they are a good deal. If you are going to drink water, bring your own mug or water bottle.

Awesome, we will only need one. Any chance you remember how much to reactivate for the next day?

Where can you fill up on water for free? Can you fill any cup/bottle with water? Can you bring in a bottle of gatorade and refill it with water when it is gone?

You can fill up with water and ice at any of the free style coke machines in the parks. We had mugs but saw folks filling water bottles, gatorade bottles, just whatever. It will allow you to get ice and then choose water just not anything else without an activated refillable mug.

If you don't want to reactivate it for the day you can get $1 refills instead. I think they're $1.19 now? But I don't drink 5 sodas a day so... That's more worth it for me. Any of the stalls with dispensers or freestyle machines will gladly rinse it and give you free water!

Also don't dishwashing your cup when you get home. I've heard it can mess with the chip. Guest services will help you out if you accidently forget thiugh.

Oh! And if you're a UOAP you can get a special cup and special refill price.

Enjoy your trip!

OK, I am leaving Saturday and this is a huge opportunity for budget savings for us. I had budgeted $12 for day one, and $6 for the next seven days - $54 dollars each for the freestyle mug. But, if I am understanding correctly - I can pay $1ish for refills after day 1? Since this an adult only trip, we will hit the parks every day, but only 2 days will we spend the entire day in the parks. Most days, we plan on some pool time, a few hours in the parks (like go over, ride ET and MIB, eat at Finnegan's, and catch the Mummy or Horror Make Up on the way out), and head back to resort. If I could get a refill entering, and a refill leaving to take to the resort for just over $2, that would be awesome. It's not making/breaking the vacation, but it is the equivalent of a couple of Hurricanes at Pat O'Briens or a few cocktails at Bula!:drinking:

Couple of questions. Would I be able to take my cups from two weeks ago and get the reactivate price next year? Also, where would one get the special AP cups? Do all the vendors have them, or would it require a trip to GS?

The regular mugs have the $1 refill cost
The freestyle ones don't as their price is higher for using the machines

I bought the dueling dragon mug in 1999 and take it on trips
My refills were $1 up to last year
On top of that I showed my AP and for 10% discount off the refill price

TinyD said refill price went up so I guess that went up since I last used my mug

Yes you can bring it back year after year. I'm still using my red cup from 2005 but about to upgrade to one of the "fancy smancy" ones as I call it as I've learned the freestyle machines have ginger ale.

It's listed somewhere where the UOAP cups are and I'll try to find it for you. I will say this... Lots of people are having issues getting the $5.99 refills in their UOAP cups. They just came out a few weeks ago when the announced plastic passes so be patient with them. I know mels and monsters has them at USF. And at iOa I know the fruit stand across from Spider-Man does. I'll try to find the list...

I think I understand the refillable mugs at general refill stations, been doing that for awhile now.

I am really hoping to understand the Coke Freestyle machines, I much prefer the larger selection, and an entire week of just pop is not very appealing. One man can only drink so much Coke Zero/Diet Coke in the heat, it doesn't actually help. We really like the sports drinks and the flavored Minute Maid Light.

I get so confused on this topic - I never know which refillable mug the threads are talking about...:sad2:

Thanks for your response and your help. It's unnecessary for you to search for a list, I can google it myself. I mainly just wondering if you had to visit GS to get them, or they could be acquired at various locations in the park. You help is much appreciated!

i hear ya

we are having posts about any refillable mug and the freestyle refillable mugs.

any mug bought at UO is considered a refillable mug.
bring back your red "cup" mug, or any mug you bought in the parks for future visits and be able to go to the food counters at the parks and get a refill for $1.00
someone posted that has now gone up by $.19 cents.

a few years back the freestyle mugs were available and with them, you can use them at any freestyle machine in the parks.
they can be brought back and only have to pay the daily rate for refills.
believe it is maybe $6 for each freestyle mug you reactivate.
i don't use the freestyle only know from what i have seen in the parks and by threads that discuss it.

i believe the freestyle machines also has water dispensed also.
if so, then any mug can be used for water only there.

Not to add fuel to fire but....this is what gathered when I was at UO this past weekend. All mugs can be refilled at the carts. I didn't bring mine but I believe it was 1.19 plus tax for a refill. I still use the old red cups. The freestyle are 6.99 to reactivate and the UOAP are 5.99 to reactivate. The freestyle machines do supply free ice water with any cup, even one you bring in yourself that isn't bought at the parks. Of course, everything is constantly subject to change at the parks so...

Okay so freestyle is $13 the first day and $6 each day after that. The regular ones are $1.15 per refill, but how much is it to buy the cup?
