Talk to me about June

I've been in May which is totally manageable as far as heat.

I've been in Jan and Feb and had pleasant and unpleasant. (Cold)

I've been in July and had surfaceofthesunhelpmeimdying temps.

Our preference is absolutely for May but we're planning a two week trip and ds's school now runs until June 5. :sad2:

So most likely we'd be going the second and third week in June. I guess I know what to expect from weather. Hot, humid and rain showers daily. But I'm hoping not as hot as July.

And I guess I know to expect larger crowds than we've had.

I guess I'm just wondering, how is it compared to other busy times? How manageable is it compared to July heat and crowds?

We're a family of three and will hopefully be there an entire 14 days, with a couple of those days being drive to the beach/legoland/etc days.

So we have the benefit of time, EMH, FP+ and Rope drop but...I'm still worried about that time frame.

We're only able to vacation in summers and we used to go in July or August. Last year was the first year we went in June and now we wouldn't have it any other way. We thought the heat was much more comfortable than July or August and that the crowds were just a smidge less. We really enjoyed that June trip and would do it again in the future. Because it does rain for a short period almost daily in June, one tip is to bring travel umbrellas. We used to wear the rain ponchos, but found that you get a lot less wet using umbrellas. Using a combination of the two works especially well if there's a downpour.

As long as you alternate outdoor attractions with indoor attractions and take time to "stop and smell the roses", you'll have a great time and I think you'll really enjoy June. Have a great time!

I was there June 6-11 in 2011. No rain at all and it was very humid, very hot. Like at night, you walked out of the hotel and your clothes were immediately stuck to your body. :rotfl:

That said, the crowds were totally manageable. I remember the Monday night we got there, we ate dinner at Epcot and then walked out to watch Illuminations and I could not believe how empty it was. We walked right up to the railing over by Italy and got a great viewing spot!

The biggest crowds I experienced was at DHS for some reason.

But again, it was humid!! :)

June is usually hot where July and August are ALWAYS hot.

When we were there June of 2012, it only topped 90 1 day out of 8, and several days the high was below 85. It was actually cooler than the weather we left behind in MO :lmao: We did hit some rain though.

Very hot, very humid and very crowded. Is it the ideal time to visit in my opinion? No. But will you have a wonderful vacation? Yes! You do have time on your side. Being able to hit the parks early then go back to your resort for nice long breaks will make it SO NICE for you. You will be able to take breaks and rest and guests who are there for only 5 days or so feel like they need to pack it all in due to the short amount of time they will be there.

I bought every type of "cooling tool" to help us such as chilly cloths, spray fans, individual misters -- you name it, we had it! In the end, my most favorite device was a tiny hand-held fan I bought at WalMart for $1. MK was the "coolest" because of the in and out of attractions that have AC. The hottest was DHS because of all the concrete and the WS at Epcot. Sooooo hot.

Go into it with a great attitude and that will help also. You will be hot and sticky, no way around it, but how you deal with it will make all the difference.

Good luck!

We have been in June many times.

It's hot and there will be the occasional rain shower.

If you concentrate on the heat and think for every waking second how horrible it's going to be, you'll be miserable.

I'm not crazy about extreme heat and humidity. But, ya know what? It is what it is.

If you are comparing June with July, June has an average temp in Orlando of 91 and July has an average temp of 92. May is 88.

It's going to be hot. You don't have to wear work clothes, flip flops are fine. Dumping a bottle of water over your head is not frowned upon.

Think cool thoughts!!

As far as crowds in June, we have been suprised EVERY TIME on how the crowds were smaller than we expected. In all our trips the only times we've waited over 20 minutes in line is if there was a breakdown delay. We very seldom used the old FP's, maybe one a day.

We have always loved going in June.

We were only able to do May once and it is by far my favorite month. The rest of our trips have mainly been in summer. June is my favorite of the summer months. We get there this year on June 8. August would be my last choice.

Thanks everyone!

We definitely will NOT let the heat ruin our trip. We're just a little apprehensive because we've been so spoiled with the milder weather. Our most recent July trip was in 2010 and it was really, really difficult. But part of that was because we were there with a lot of family, very few days and were being pulled in a hundred directions.

It sounds like the crowds won't be as intense as I worried, either.

I still think May is our perfect time but if June's when we get to go, being hot at Disney is better than being hot at home in MO!
