Talk Me Into This (or out of it)!

Go! Please go. I have told my husband that if A&M is ever in the Athletic Bowl, Citrus Bowl, or any bowl anywhere close to Orlando, we are making a long trip out of it and enjoying some Disney magic along with the game (He disagrees that Nashville is close enough this year, darn it). It will probably be crowded, sure. But, I bet that you will see other Vols there, which will make it more fun because you can celebrate your victory with them when you pass by them on your way to a ride or show. And, since this isn't some big anticipated trip, I'm betting the crowd won't bother you as much. My husband and I have dashed to Disney when he had a convention nearby (always in the summer) and while it was more crowded than we were used to, since it felt like a bonus trip, we had a marvelous time. Definitely go if you can.

That's a lot of money for 1 day in a crowded park, but that is completely up to you. I also wanna say GO VOLS!!!

I think that crowd level of 7 is a little low. This is the last Saturday of the holiday weeks and the last weekend before everyone goes back to school. It will be crazy crowded!!!

Not saying you shouldn't go, just agreeing with the above. That "7" will more than likely be a "9" (been there, done that).

I would go...We can't seem to plan a trip to Florida without going, so I can't imagine making the drive and not popping in for at least a day.

Go, having been on Level 10 days, it's still a lot of fun. :cool1:

Once you have the right attitude and realistic expectations. At least with FP+ you're guaranteed 3 rides

Go. I wouldn't drive 12+ hours and be within an hour of the park and NOT go. Ride what you can, soak in all the things like parades and fireworks that he will never have seen, meet some characters, and he won't know what else he missed. Have fun!!

This!!! If the money won't break you, the memories will be priceless. :)

I vote GO.

We usually go in September (lowest crowds of the year - crowd levels of 2 - 3), but this past year we did a last-minute trip in July. I think projected crowds were a 9 or something ridiculous. It was the BEST TRIP EVER and our experience WAY exceeded my expectations.

However, we were in the MK parking lot 45 minutes before park opening, had a detailed itinerary for the day, and maximized our FP+ opportunities. This style of touring may not be enjoyable for everyone. If you plan on showing up at 10 am (or later) and just winging it, then you will likely have a very different experience. It could still be fun, and worth it, just different.

You can still accomplish a lot during moderately-high crowds - but you have to be pretty strategic about it. Easywdw has GREAT cheat sheets, if you haven't already seen them.

Hope you have SO MUCH fun:)

Appreciate all of the advice.....by the way ....we're going! Anyone have any suggestions on a place to stay for a couple of nights? Staying off property for the first time due to the short stay.

What's your price range ? There are a ton of hotels ranging from eh to amazing all around Disney. So much depends on what you're hoping to spend.

I'd like to spend $100ish a night tops.

Have you checked out Expedia yet for your dates ? I find although I rarely book through them it is a good way to determine if what I'm looking for is available. Then I move on to other sites ie : the websites of the individual hotels. I know a lot of the hotels offsite in Orlando but I don't really know the hotels in that price range so I'll retreat and let others chime in .
You may also want to post the question on the "Orlando hotels" sub board.
