Talk me into the All Star Family Suites

The lower price, queen bed, and two bathrooms in the All Star Family Suites is making them an attractive alternative to the cabins at Ft. Wilderness for me.

But we LOVE the Ft. Wilderness theming and quiet and being in the woods. I'm afraid hubby, who thinks the All Stars and Pop are hideous, would never be able to relax. Me, I'd give up any and all theming to have a queen instead of a double bed at night. And the price break is around $100 a night, once we add in the $50 a day we'd save not renting the golf cart hubby HAS to have at Ft. Wilderness. A nine night trip, $900, that's some serious money.

I would love to hear from people who have stayed at both Ft. Wilderness cabins and the All Star Family Suites and can compare them for me, and from people who can speak to our fear of being surrounded by ugly decor and too much cement at the All Stars. For example, the buildings the All Star Family Suites are in, do they have any trees around them?

Thanks in advance,

We just returned from the ASMU family suites and LOVED them. We never stayed at FW so I can't speak for them but we have stayed at POR.
We enjoyed the suites for a few reasons

1. TWO rooms .. my DH and I had a queen bed in a seperate room. The kids had a pull out sofa , a pull out chair and another pull out it made 3 beds in there at least 4 people could have slept in that room.
2. TWO FULL bathrooms . With a 15 and12 year old girl and 5 year old son these were a blessing getting ready in the morning.
and the kitchenette was helpful . NOT a full kitchen but worth it for us. We drove down from NYC so we bought some breakfast stuff and got some milk and had breakfast everyday in the room.

The room was clean and everyone was nice we had no problems there at all. There were trees around and we did see rabbits ,frogs ,lizards etc. in the area around our hotel. The rooms are also in a perfered location so you are in one of the first 4 buildings . Close to the food court , the buses and the pool. We had fun activities at the pool daily movies at night, bingo and Disney trivia , jump rope and dance contests . Lots of fun for the kids. We walked to movies to see the big icons of buzz and woddy and we had a great trip. Our room did not face the pool which was kind of nice we were in building one too.

Any ASMU Family suites questions just ask . We are so sad to be home:sad1: .

We spent one night at ASMU and understand your concerns about cement and noise...however, I think there are family suites in the Calypso buildings and if you get rooms away from the pool, it is quiet and there are views of trees. We were close to the food court and bus stops. We are taking 12 family members next summer and are seriously considering the family suites if we don't buy dvc.

What is it with DH'S that don't like the all stars? My DH goes to WDW for me and only asks that I not book an All Star Resort.

I could care less, I am just happy to be at WDW!

I'm with you. My DH is less than thrilled than I'm thinking of booking the extended family at ASMU next summer. I think the family suites are a great idea. On the other hand, this just might be what pushes him to sign the dvc papers:goodvibes

To the OP, saving $900 is serious money, it would be enough to convince me. I have pics of the trees outside our window, let me figure how to post them here.

Here are some photos I took not too many though .

We really enjoyed it and were not at all thrilled at first that it was an all star till we got there and the kids had a great time.

We have stay there twice and will be back in 3 weeks to stay. DH likes it, but he wanted to stay at the sports one. Only one pool would be open when we get there. Just try so stay away from the pool b/c of the noise (I have only heard, no personal experience). If you would save $900 (that is alot to us) I would consider it. It is more than our 6day/5night stay and 1 ticket each.
