Alright, I would love to have a wedding at Disney! This is where my DF and I met and fell in love! But it seems to me, I could do it a lot cheaper someone else. So, I need you guys to convince me! What makes Disney so special?

When my DF and I first discussed getting married we thought it would be much cheaper to get married near home. Which would be in West Virginia. But when we looked at the cost for everything it was going to be about $7,000 for decorations, church, and the usual. And that didn't even include any fees for the reception besides the cost of food because my DF's family owns a restaraunt with banquet facilities. So the only cost for our reception would have been the food...no paying for staff or site fees. The catch was we still had to plan everything ourselves and do so much more work. In the end we decided that Disney was more time effective and time is money so it's more cost effective too. We don't have to send our own Save the Dates cause Disney does it. And you get a coordinator. Not to mention if you get married at an epcot site it will require little to no decorations. Plus it's a good reason for everyone to take a vacation.

Besides...nobody gives you magic like disney gives you magic! :goodvibes

Well, we're having an intimate at Disney with some "extras" and then a large at home reception. So, we are actually spending more money than we would if we were just having a regular at home wedding and reception. However, to me just the experience of having my wedding at Disney is priceless. This may sound cheesy, but to me just being there is so magical and there is just no other place that would be as special to start our lives together than at Disney World. It is so unique, no one from around here has ever done it (well from where we live anyways), it's fairly easy -- depending on what all you want to do, wedding are held there all the time, so they know what they are doing, and it's DISNEY WORLD!!!! That was my whole reason -- I love being in Disney World and I couldn't think of any other place that would mean as much to me as there to have my wedding ceremony. Okay, off my cheesy mode!! Good Luck deciding!!

Thanks guys! I thought it would be cute since we met (while working) at Disney, and fell in love. We are both what my family calls "Disney Dorks" I think it would be a great place to get married since we both love it so much. I'm not sure how the rest of my family would take it though! We're kind of the Disney outcasts! =)

Let me be honest. I live in Palm Beach County Florida, and everything requires a doctor's salary. I mean a bare bones wedding here costs $14000, and that is with a caesar salad & lasanga dinner! and no DJ! So as I looked into having a WDW wedding, I was shocked! Other than the personal floral, everything is so mild priced. The food is at great prices, the entertainment as well. I am getting so much more from the place I love the most!

I think that everyone who has a board name on the Dis could be labeled a "Disney Dork" - we all know how it feels to have that title!! I remember back in the spring calling my sister, another Disney Dork, shrieking with excitement because I earned my Mousketeer tag here!

Anyway, go for the Disney wedding!! If that is what you are into, your family would totally understand and probably expect of you. And like everyone says, it really isn't that expensive. I have been an event planner for years and Disney pricing really isn't that off. Even here in the midwest, the pricing for all of the intimate package items would be higher than the Disney cost. I'm trying to convince the hubby to do a vow renewal at Disney in February - it is worth it!

Hi! I am from NJ where prices are VERY expensive. For us to have a wedding for about 100 people, it would have been $15,000 for food and the reception site, nothing else! We realized there was no way we could afford and NJ wedding. We both live in SC now, and all our friends are here, and his family is from OH. People would have to travel no matter where we had it. That is when we first started looking into destination weddings. I really did not want to leave the US b/c I wanted people to be able to drive to our wedding if they wanted to. I wanted somewhere on the beach, but that is always pricey. DF and I went to WDW last year for the first time together. We were discussing wedding locations and he goes, "I know you want a beach wedding, but how about we get married at Disney on the boardwalk?" Oh my goodness, it was perfect! After talking w/ my SM, I realize Disney does A LOT for you. You have a wedding planner who will make sure everything runs perfectly on your big day, and they are included in the price. As far as guests coming, who wouldn't want to go to Disney? It's fun for all ages! I am so excited that we get to start out our lives together with that Disney magic  I hope you are able to also!

my only convincing statement for you for the wedding is: ITS DISNEY WORLD!!!! just think back to one of your first trips there: the magic, the laughter the feeling of happiness - if you had that even once - you will have that at your Disney wedding.

I would do it all over again 100 times!! :cloud9:

A few things you can do to keep your costs in line are:

-Keep your guest count manageable.
-Have your wedding on a weekday.

If you don't want it to turn into a circus that spirals out of control on costs, and you still want to actually TALK to the people you invited, keep it small. We found that to be the best way for us to get the wedding we wanted and still give our guests a very memorable experience that we all enjoyed without breaking the bank.

I know it's easier said than done, especially if someone else is paying for it, but you have to compromise somewhere if you want a cost effective Disney wedding.

People still tell us that it's the best wedding they've ever attended. You can't discount the Disney magic!

The number one reason I would do my dftw over and over again......the calmness that I felt as soon as I got on the plane and knew that I was going to Disney to get married. Everything is right in Disney world...and the fact that my dh was as excited about it as me made the whole thing PERFECT!
