Talk about an upgrade!

Wed afternoon we went to check into the Coronado Springs, and after taking my reservation number and looking at the screen, the CM says let me check with my manager. I'm FREAKING thinking there is something wrong with the reservation.
So she comes back over and tells me "As much as we love having you stay here, how would you like to stay at the Yacht Club?"
SO out of my league! But it was very nice, we had a great two days, had a heck of a time getting the kids out of the beach pool.

As Value vacationers, I've wondered (especially reading these boards) why so many people jusify the cost. So now I know. While the rooms aren't that much bigger than the Coronado, the atmosphere is an entirely different world! I did feel completely underdressed for my vacation, but it was so quiet and relaxing walking around the marina. It was wonderful to have so many greeters there at the end of a long day at the parks. And the Housekeeping was amazing. We weren't home for 10 minutes when we got a knock on the door asking if we wanted turndownm servce. We were just there for a break, so said no, but she left us a whole ton of chocolates and an autographed picture of Mickey!

I'll have to keep my eyes peeled for those great rates I always hear about, becasue I don't think I'll ever be able to go back to the chaos at the All Stars again!

I think they were overbooked, or close to it, and we were just staying for 2 nights...I think that is why!

That is so fantastic. We love that area and the resorts. I am now hooked on Deluxes too. I dont think I could go back to a mod. It doesnt help that my husband likes being spoiled more than me. LOL.

What a magical trip!!! Disney is smart, they upgrade you so you get spoiled & want to go back!

Thats so great!! Since you have experienced a moderate and a Deluxe, would you ever consider going back to CSR? We did the POP our first year and hated it. We have done AKL and CR since then and LOVED it. To save money I considered the CSR, but I don't know if it would be worth it.

This is so true. I got a free upgrade to concierge once and now have a hard time staying value...lol. That's how they get you!

I would gladly go back to CSR, I really love that place. I don't think the deluxe spoiled me from the mods. I love the lake at CSR, and the rooms at YC didn't seem that much bigger than what I remember the CSR rooms being, they were just laid out differently, with the bathroom and vanity being at the front of the room, to the side, rather than at the rear of the room.

Us, too! A few years back we rented points at OKW for a family reunion - and we were hooked. It's now hard to stay in even a deluxe. We do it for a night here and there, but it's just not DVC. I know it's not for everyone, but our DVC paid for itself two trips ago. That's how Disney REALLY gets you!

That is wonderful news. STarting your trip on such a great note. A similar thing happened to us during our August 2006 trip. We went to check into Pop and the CM excused himself and came back and asked us if we would like to move to CSR. Of course we said yes. We too were only there on a 3 night visit (during free ddp). So not only did we get CSR for the price of Pop, we also had free dining too!! AFter 60+ visits to WDW, this was the best upgrade we ever got.

I must be odd. My first "modern" visit to WDW was at Club Level at YC, then CSR, then Pop Century every since! As much as I love the deluxe resorts, I really don't use the amenities enough to make it worthwhile--unless I don't have to worry about cost! I'm equally comfortable at all levels. *LOL*
