I just have to say this, since we bought into SSR in August, to become first time DVC'ers, you people have made this board an addiction for me.

I can't wait each day to come here and share in everyone's excitement, hopes and dreams concerning DVC. I also have learned so much from all the DVC vet's about being a member.

I've never been on a forum where everyone was so nice and helpful toward fellow posters.

Since joining DVC a little over a month ago, I feel like I always have my next vacation to look forward to, which is a nice feeling. But all of you make the wait for that next trip, much more tolerable, because of how fantastic everyone here is.

I know add-ons are addictive, since I'm now awaiting ROFR on a VWL add-on, but this forum, for me, is also a nice addiction.

Thanks so much everyone, for giving me so much enjoyment each day!

The whole looking forward to the next vacation is really helpful during Winters in New England :teeth:. And you know what I mean.

Welcome Home! Good luck with the ROFR on your first add-on.

I know the feeling. I just purchased in July. This board has a variety of different perspectives (some seem to be a little touchy) but it is addictive. It has me looking at adding on to VWL before I even use my home resort points.

Hi! I agree. I enjoy coming on the boards as much as I can. There are some really nice and helpful people on this board. Congrats on your membership and Good Luck on your add on. I am hoping someday, I can talk my dh into an adding some points.

I feel the same way! I love these boards. As often as I can with two little boys (both under age three), I am on here. I actually use them as a way to unwind and get away after everyone has gone to sleep - DH included! And everyone really is so nice. I get a little worried when I see "resort bashing" as I've heard it called, but other than that... this is a wonderful place to "Disney Dream."

ITA!!!!

I am as addicted to this board as I am to DVC!!! Every so often, I make my way to other forums...but, only this one truly feels like home!!! It is the ONLY place where people understand (and share) my addiction!!

Besides...it is just plain fun!!!

Welcome Ron!!! (My buddy from the ROFR thread!!!)

What I like the most is where all of a like mind. People make fun of us because we go to WDW so often. Here, the people get it.

My only regret is waiting so long to buy into DVC. Our first trip with the kids was in 1994 and we almost did it then, but every year since we just let it pass. This year I say to DW this is the year! Hey, better late than never.

Mike... or should I say OKW Mike!

I'll be able to post this week that we are now proud owners of 200 pts for the VWL, like yourself.

I'll definitely keep you updated.

Here is an addiction for you:

I stopped by Barnes and Noble to check on the new guides. I already picked up the Unoffcial Guide after reading how great it was here. Now I don't need a guide book at all, heck I could probably write one myself! I was just Disney Dreaming.

As I walked up to the travel section there was a lady standing there puzzling over the Disney guide books. I asked if she had ever been before and when she said no I told here which books were the best, gave her info on how to find discounts and any other info she wanted. She appreciated the info, she was going to book a package, but I'm sure she thought I was a nut!

Yep I am a Disney Addict! Love to read my boards to help pass the time.

Enjoy your new homes everyone and welcome home!!!

DisneyRon, we know the feeling all too well! We own at BWV and just recently closed at VWL! Think the one thing that will help keep our "addiction" in check are the maintenance fees! We own at BWV and recently closed at VWL. We are planning a trip to VWL Christmas 2005 as is Beca & Beca's Mom. It would be great fun to meet members of the "ROFR" thread!! Hope you hear soon on ROFR. Beca, hope you close soon!!

Thanks, Ruth!!!

Those main fees are "scary", huh!!! Someone posted about how if you have any debt at all, that you should pay them monthly, as they are "interest free". I think we are going to do that...although the thought of paying them and then forgetting them sounds pretty good, too.

I am SOOO excited about owning at VWL, but I am not in a HUGE hurry to close. We are just banking this year's points into next year, so we can take the trip where we meet you and your family!!!:p

Heehee...I am SO excited!!

you're the main reason we are trying to purchase into the VWL. If you remember in late August I posted that we had just returned from a stay at the WL and loved it, then had taken the tour of SSR and purchased points to become first time DVC members, and you asked me why we didn't buy into the VWL since we loved it there so much. Well I gave you my reasons for our purchase at SSR and then we thought about it, and you were right, why not try to get into the VWL?

So now we are awaitng ROFR on 200 pts for the VWL.

Thanks so much for giving us the determination to attempt this purchase.

Hopefully we'll be meeting you and Beca at the Villas Christmas of '05!

Disney Ron, wow, I never thought my comments could have been so persuasive! But it is true that there's just something so special and so different about VWL! DH says I should ask for a 10% cut from Disney for "persuading" people to buy more points!! GOOD LUCK on passing ROFR -- Disney seems to be in a much more generous mood these days when it comes to passing on those contracts! Keep us posted...

sorry if this is a stupid question. what is ROFR? i'm new to this thread. thanks.

No such thing as a stupid question!!! ROFR stands for Right OF Refusal. The way DVC is "written", DVC gets "first crack" at any and every contract that goes thru for resale. So, if two parties come to an agreement on a resale, before it can go thru, it has to be sent to DVC to see if they want to "buy it back". If so...the contract between the two parties is "null and void", and DVC gets to purchase the contract for exactly the same terms that the buyer had offered.

This way...if there is a "smokin'" deal..only Disney can get it...but, it also protects all of our investments. ROFR is frustrating when you are trying to buy, but it is probably the MAIN reason DVC timeshares have held their value (they have actually increased significantly in value over the years) while other timeshares are only worth a fraction of their original sales price.

If you have any other questions....please feel free to ask!!

The waiting is killing us!
