I know that you can have your photo taken by the professionals onboard, but can you use your own camera to take the same photos (ie. in front of the departure board and other backdrops?)

Over the years as we have taken WDW vacations we have always had our pictures taken by the professional and have always used our camera in addition. We have purchased a few of the professional ones, but usually don't, however, unfortunatley we will probably not take as many cruises as we will take trips to WDW.

I saw that that it cost about $90.00 for 10 photos :teacher: from Shutters, is this right, worth the money, HELP!

Yes, you can also take your own photos. There are usually extra castmembers around who will do it for you..although..you can't take up a lot of time doing it..they are snapping them the sametime the professional is. They like to keep the photo lines moving quickly as they can. The photos come out great, we can never resist. We used our formal night picture for friends and family, had it reprinted when we got back home.

Just so you are forwarned - I don't think you are allowed to use the backdrops - as those are for the "formal" 8 x10's.

I've seen people taking photos with the backdrops. Our first cruise I spent a small fortune in Shutters. Learned my lesson and now only choose exceptional shots, brutally tossing the others in the discard slot before I change my mind. I prefer candid to posed shots anyway and try to capture those moments with my camera. The CM's are very helpful if you need them.

They will take any picture for you with your camera that they are taking for the ship's shop. The backdrop pictures are 8x10s though & those are not part of the package deal. They are $20 each. The 10 6x8s are 85.

On 12 of our last 13 DCL cruises we never had a problem taking pictures of the same shots just before/after the photographer took his shot...but in January on the Wonder I was told quite rudely that guests are not allowed to take photos near the photographers. I was not in his way, I waited until he took his shots but he still said we were not allowed.

This never happened to us before...usually the photographers are very gracious about this.

I cruised in January and we took pictures with all the backgrounds...we just had someone behind us take it.....

They dont care but you do have to hurry and the CM taking the pictures is not allowed to take the pictures for you with your own camera.
