We are making a list of what items we plan to take into the parks with us each day. As far as wallets go...we would rather not take them for the obvious reasons. Other than our KTTW key/ticket card....do we need anything like our ID's? We will be setting up to be able to charge things to the room, so we won't need to carry a credit card. We will likely pack in like $50 cash to use as needed, if needed for things that can't be charged. But is there anything else? I'd rather just lock that stuff up in the room safe and not have to worry about losing something important. Thanks! :wizard:

It's always good to carry your ID. If for some reason your KTTW would not work or if you lost it, they will want to see ID to replace it.

I agree. When I lost my KTTW, I was quite glad to have an ID - it made it a cinch to replace. Always a good idea for an adult to have legal ID on them, for whatever reason.

Beyond that? $50 + charge to the room should do you fine.

I definitely agree it is a good idea to avoid wallets. I made the mistake of having a wallet in my back pocket on Rocking Roller Coaster. Fortunately Disney Lost and Found is great and sent it to me (I left Disney the next morning before they opened) before I got back home for free...everything I had in it, including the $40 in cash was still there just as it had been when it fell out. Needles to say, I was very impressed!

I agree as well. Much, much worse to lose your wallet than your KTTW.

I never travel anywhere without my license. That, a VISA card in case of a problem, and my KTTW card take up remarkably little room.

We always make sure we have our IDs, you never know when you might need it. My husband and son make sure they have a pocket that buttons or velcros and put their wallets in that (cargo shorts are great for that). I put mine in a small zipped compartment in the bag that I carry to the parks with the rain coats and snack. I also have a quart size ziploc bag that I keep handy in the bag with the passes and a few dollars in it so I don't have to keep taking out my wallet.

Remember you cannot buy adult beverages without your state or military ID with you.

:rolleyes1

I dont understand the "obvious reasons" for not taking the wallet. My wallet contains my drivers license, which I am not going without because I prefer to drive to the parks, especially this time when we get free parking. My wallet contains my cash, which I do not use often, but do not want to be without in case I want to spend some. My wallet contains my credit cards, which I intend to use one or the other to pay for our food in the park and any souveniers I wish to buy. I carry my wallet every day and would feel funny without it.
I have never been to a Disney park without my wallet. Even as a small child when I did not carry a wallet every day, I carried one on vacation.

There's always a potential need for a driver's license, one credit card, medical insurance card(s) and about $50 cash. That's usually all that's in the wallet anyway, so I just bring it.

The obvious reasons I referred to are losing it or having it stolen :wizard:
I will be taking only the needed things into the park with me, I have decided (ID, Key to the world, and $50 cash). I won't bring in my wallet, because I don't want to take all of my credits cards, bank cards, pictures, business cards, and all of the other accumulated stuff I have in there into the park. Too much risk if it is lost. So I decided, only what I need in the park will come with me into the park. pirate:

I didn't carry a wallet either. Before I went to Disney, I purchased a new wallet from Wal Mart. The one I chose had a large pull out card wallet that was part of it. The card wallet has a clear window on one side for your ID, and then a few pockets on the other side to hold credit cards, etc. I just carry that small card wallet without the rest of the wallet. It works fine for my license, and a couple of credit cards. I carry a bit of cash in my pocket, and my KTTW in a pouch attached to my shorts pocket. That is really all that I need as far as ID / money goes.

Personally I've never been concerned about taking a wallet into Disney (and living in Orlando I go reasonably frequently), however, I have been on other vacations where I was concerned about taking my wallet out of the hotel. For those trips I bring my 'vacation wallet', which is just a cheap canvas wallet that I got for free on a cruise a number of years ago. Before I leave the hotel I put my ID, one credit card, a little cash, and anything else I might need into that wallet and leave my 'real' wallet with everything else locked in the hotel safe.

HTH,
Brett

This is basically what I plan on, except instead of an actual wallet, it will be a zipper pouch inside of my bag that I am bringing into the parks. :wizard:

The obvious reasons I referred to are losing it or having it stolen . . . I will be taking only the needed things into the park with me, I have decided (ID, Key to the world, and $50 cash). I have carried a walet for over 25 years and have NEVER lost one or had one stolen. So I do not understand someone not wanting to take one into the park due to fear of losing it or having it stolen.

As for not wanting all the credit cards, bank cards, pictures, business cards and all with you at the park, that is something I understand and appreciate. In the past I have taken on vacation stripped down versions of my wallet. Before leaving on my trip, I will go through the wallet and take out everything that I will not need on Vacation. I makes my wallet a LOT smaller and lighter for vacation (so I guess my wallet gets a vacation too). Leave the extra stuff from the wallet at home, you don't need it on vacation. You can put it back in your wallet after Vacation.

I don't think I'd like to risk having my money, credit card, ID, resort keys etc sloshing around loose in my pockets.

I'm another one who makes my wallet lighter for a vacation. However, it is heavy enough that if it isn't in my pocket I would notice immediately.

I for one feel it is much safer to have your wallet securely in your pocket, where you know everything is or should be.

Keep in mind that you MUST have your state (or military) issued identification to fly home. I always carry my wallet. One day, I left it in the resort and I was in a panic. I almost returned to the room until I realized that I still had my room key which had charging on it. We enjoyed the day.
