Taking Wallets into the Parks?

I bought a little canvas wallet/pouch thing in MouseGear that has a Mickey embroidered on the front, an outside pocket, and a little clip so you can hook it to your beltloop or inside your bag. I take my ID, VISA, a little cash, insurance card, AAA card (if I drove to the parks that day) or my KTTW (if I didn't). I keep my AP in one of those plastic pouches with a clip they sell for pin lanyards. It all gets tossed in the "park bag." I leave the big wallet, checkbook, etc. at home, it's too much to lose!

We did not bring wallets to the park. DH carried a little flat, water-proof holder (like you find at the waterparks) with our KTTW card, Annual Passes, DDE cards (this was before the name change), and ID's. He also carried a credit card (just in case, only used it once at the Pick-a-pearl stand) and $20 (in case we wanted something from one of the little kiosks that are not set up to handle charge cards/KTTW cards. I know it seems like a lot, but it wasn't nearly as cumbersome as a wallet could be, and it kept everything nice and dry.

I've never had any issues with bringing my wallet into WDW. I always keep it in my front pocket, which is a bit more secure than my rear pocket.

I always use my "water wallet" at WDW. I just hang it around my neck and have plenty of room for our safe key, KTTW cards, IDs, and a little cash. DH is so used to having his wallet that he takes a cheap velcro one and just has a little cash in it (I have his ID in the water wallet). He just says he "feels funny" without his wallet, but the one he carries doesn't have anything important in it.

My uncle had his pocket "picked" at WDW years ago. They caught the kid. Yes, kid. The family was working together. They had the kid bump up against people in a crowd thinking people wouldn't think anything of a little kid (he was only 6 yrs. old...how sad). Anyway, Uncle felt the kid get his wallet, he turned around and yelled at the kid, who took off. WDW security caught him and subsequently, the family. They found 5 more wallets on these people that didn't belong to them.

I guess that experience made me wary of carrying anything "valuable" in the parks.

I've always taken it in and have never had a problem. Before I go though, I will take everything that I don't need out of it. As for credit cards, I take all out but one. Also a good idea to have pockets with buttons.

if you buy a lanyard you could put your ID and disney cards in it it saves alot of time :thumbsup2. Or you could bring your disney cards and put your ID in a locker with a backpack or whatever that works too. as for money go to a disney store before going to DW and put your money on a card that keeps money for DW.

My wallet stays in the safe with our passports. We all have plastic cardholders since we like EMH. In mine I have my KTTW, my driver's license, my photopass card, and $20 cash (there was a day in AK last year when the snack carts couldn't charge to the KTTW cards)

Yep we use cheap light weight wallets at disney too an keep the bare essentials in there. That was 1 of the 1st tips I got from the Dis many many years ago when I 1st started coming here. NObody needs a wallet full of pics of their kids an gkids at disney.

ID, CC, KTTW an maybe an insurance card should do it along with a few dollars in cash. All that weight of your nonvacation wallet adds up.

I got some cargo shorts at Target a few years ago that have a zippered pocket big enough to hold my wallet, keys and cell phone. I only wear them to amusement parks (since they aren't available anymore and haven't been able to find something similar) and it is great. Not only because it won't get stolen but I can go on a roller coaster and not worry about anything falling out during the ride.
