Taking walk ups at Skippers Canteen today?

Thanks for the info jillybeanjo. We arrive next week and I was wondering this very thing about the walk up rules. Here's to hoping the line won't be too long and the kids will be patient that day!

The menu looked pretty interesting for Disney, especially once you read the ingredients. DS would love the steak. Glad to see more steak as a kid's option. He's so picky about everything and won't eat any of those vegetables, even the potatoes:sad2: I also saw some stuff for me, which is saying a lot, because I have recently mostly given up dairy, grains, corn, rice, and sugar. I might make an exception for dessert though:) DH was disappointed that the only adult chocolate dessert had bananas; he hates coconut and bananas. The lava cake on the kid's menu looked good to him though:) I will definitely try to make an ADR for March.

My only issue is there is no basic choice for the extremely picky kid, I was thinking the mac and cheese, but realized it has meat in it so it won't work.

Agree, my heart kind of sank when I saw the kids options lacking the basics (and found nothing in the adult entrees that my picky 4 year old would eat if I were to share a meal with her.) Darn it!

I called disney dining, he said that they don't expect to be taking any ADRs for a least a month.
Did you interpret this to mean "no reservations for dates any earlier than a month from now", or "it will be at least a month before you can call in to get a reservation"?

Since our plan is to eat there on 24 January, the sooner booking begins, the happier I'll be.

Hmmm, the menu definitely looks interesting. My son would eat the steak or the fish, but I'd imagine some picky kids might struggle. Lots of the menu items appeal to me, I'm excited to try them.

I think many people will be pleased with something different to eat, but I do wonder how the menu will appeal to the masses? I'm definitely going to get in soon in case the menu is changed and dumbed down!

The prices are WAY too high as well. Especially the kids meals. $23 for a bowl of pho? $10.50 for a kids meal of chicken noodle soup and fruit???? $23 for a chicken breast with rice and stir fried veggies? Just nuts.

Am I the only one who thinks everything is priced at least $5 too high? I know it is MK but come on.

I predict the place will crash and burn with that menu. I give them 3 month before they "rework" it. That kind of food does not appeal to the masses at WDW.

I, personally, wouldn't eat there and I like a lot of differing kinds of food. Most of this sounds awful to me. The kids menu is laughable.

I was thinking the opposite, the menu is still very American, with pork, lamb, beef and chicken steaks featuring, just with Thai, Moroccan and Chinese seasoning. Only the noodle soup bowls are significantly pushing it. Would have been nice to see some Brazilian specialities or maybe Mongolian curry.

I for one am glad they are branching out with their food variety. What kind of menu where you expecting?

I am no longer in the ADR pool of folks, after seeing the menu. With 3 meat & potatoes loving men & 3 picky-ish kids, I think we will have to skip it to keep the peace! Sticking w/pot roast & potatoes at LTT for us. (Why aren't my menfolk foodies, I really wanted to try it!?)

I can't wait to try it! I just know my DH is gonna make gagging noises though. The only thing he would eat is the pork and rice dish (me eating the broccoli of course). The whole menu is making me drool. Especially the desserts. (One of everything please!)

I will never bring the kids here. There is no way they'd touch any of that stuff.

I am not sure what I was expecting. Maybe just some more Asian options that are the kinds of foods most people have heard of and that kids can enjoy. There is nowhere in MK to get Asian food really, and I thought this would be it. Also more South American inspired stuff would have been great. An Asian/Latin fusion menu would have been great. Enough with the African cuisine. They are already opening another African place in AK.

The kids menu is just abysmal. Disney really needs to understand that it's all well and good to offer kids stuff like fish and steak but they also need to have some more basic staple kids items available as well. I wish they would just offer "1/3 portions at 1/3 price" of any menu item for kids under 12 at every TS restaurant. And then have a standing kids menu with burgers, Mac and cheese, pasta with marinara, grilled cheese, chicken nuggets, pizza, and hot dogs at every resttaurant. How hard would that be?

This would be awesome. I have one kid that even at 6 is bored with the basic kids menu and likes flavor (though nothing spicy) for her meals. The kids menus are all really blah at Disney for her, but she eats far too little to get her an adult meal. I have another 2 that will branch out on occasion, but are also super happy with mac and cheese, chicken nuggets, pizza or hot dogs if they don't see anything else they like.

My daughter loved the veg. Sampler at SAnaa, so she's willing to try things, but has to be vegetarian. I think the adults in my party will love it and hoping the atmosphere makes up for the Food options for the kids in my group. If I can get an ADR, we are trying it.

I see this type of question often? I don't get it. Why don't your men change it up a little and try thing for the sake of you. We certainly plan on going. I find kids are only picky if you allow them to be. Mine, 8 and 5 eat what we eat (there is rarely another option), and we expose them to A LOT. They now eat virtually anything (including caviar) especially once their hungry. I recently had a talk with my wife about our kids as they have been slipping some in their worldly tastes. When we go out to for Mexican food, my son had been eating chicken nuggets. In our last two trips, he now eats burritos, quesadillas, ect. since the other items have magically "been dropped from the menu". If given the choice of comfort food, sure that's where most will go. But where is the excitement in that. This is Disney. Time to make your men folk explore some new options!
