I saw the Cricut on sale at Joann Fabrics today and was going to wait until Saturday to buy it for $150. I came home to research a bit and realized one of the main reasons I wanted it (Disney fonts, Mickey heads, etc) is no longer on the market! :-( The Mickey and Pals cart is available, but the other one has been discontinued.
After reading more, it looks like I should stick to the Cameo and purchase that. In looking through the online store, though, I saw very limited Disney images. The main things I'm looking for are Mickey heads with letters inside for my classroom, Mickey head outline, characters, ability to make layered banners etc for birthday parties. Could someone please point me in the right direction for these types of things? I want to be sure it is available before I purchase this.
OR...if you have any projects with these items in it that you have made- I'd love to see pictures!

Thank you for any help!

I have the original Silhouette and the software to operate it as well as the Cameo is the same. It allows you to view, purchase and download images from their online library which is very handy. Their library has thousands of images, but unfortunately they do not have any Disney licensed images. They do have licensed Harry Potter, Echo Park and some others but I'm drawing a blank on the others. They do have some general theme park images that work for Disney as well as other theme parks.

As for Disney images using the Silhouette, I think there's a way to take an image and convert it into an image the Silhouette understands and can cut. BUT, I don't know how to do it. I think if you were to google SVG images or check on youtube, I'm sure you could find some tutorials.

One website that I've found helpful for Disney is mickeyavenue.com. It has fonts and some images too. I found some great images directly from Big Thunder Mountain RR.

in my facebook group that I"m in they are talking about this - if you get the upgrade on the software then you can do SVG files - you can do all of my files

I have a true type font that is the Mickeyheads with letters cut out

you might want to look into the print & cut feature - you print with your printer then it will cut around the image (clip art is suppose to be wonderful)

I have talked myself into this - now just need to get the money for it

I have the regular software and I just made my own mickey head...three circles and eliminated the interior lines. I can place letters inside using a font, or cut them separately and attach them to my mickey head if I want.

I love my Silhouette, but it's true that they don't have the cartridges with all the Disney characters. However, you can make your own designs or download theirs from the library for .99 each or get a subscription for like $20 a month and get $150 in credits.
