I bought a wood desk at a thrift store, sturdy but needs refinished. Looks like someone took sticker paper and then tried to remove it. Cant get the stickers off to refinish. Any suggestions on how to do this?

Goo Be Gone. Always works on the sticky residue left over from stickers for me. I find it at Walmart in the laundry section or sometimes with the dish detergents.

It even took gum out of my carpet last year. It is a little greasy but it does the job.

I LOVE GooBeGone!

Another hint: ANY GUM on it???? put ice cubes in a ziploc, leave it on it, then scrape off easily!
Good Luck refinishing!

I just read in a magazine to put vegetable oil on the sticky stuff and let it sit for 20 min. Then, rub sugar or salt or cornstarch on the spot until it balls up into goo you can pick off. I have some myself to get up...
