We paid $11.99 for a photo CD at Town Square Exhibition Hall. We paid $69.95 for 256MB Kodak SD card...ouch!
Here's the story: On our 6th day of theme parks, when we took our 276th photo, the counter went from 275 back to 1. We thought we had lost all our photos! DW, DD10, and DD7 had a huge meltdown ("why did we even bother to come here?!"), and DD10 even thought it was her fault! I finally figured out the camera had switched to internal memory. The panic subsided, but it still left me paranoid enough to buy a CD *and* an extra memory card, just in case the CD didn't work.
Rigel Kent's tips: 1. You remember how you always knew film will cost more at WDW. The same goes for memory cards, but worse! I feel pretty stupid about missing that one.
2. We get more photos on our card by setting the image quality to "Good" instead of "Best." Try it out before going, and see if you like how the 4 by 6 prints turn out. I wouldn't do it for larger prints, but it is excellent for 4x6.
3. I saved time at Town Square Exhibition Hall by having the CD made by at the front register, instead of standing in the long lines at the do-it-yourself machines. At first, the Cast Member at front said she couldn't do it, but after receiving advice from another Cast Member, I went back to the first, who admitted she had been wrong--she had thought their machine was not working.
4. Can't get the plastic packaging for your new SD card opened? The front register cast member had good scissors and did it for me!
5. Speaking of Town Square Exhibition Hall, I have to tell you (if you don't already know) to go down the hall on the left to the very back, where there is a "secret" air-conditioned theater playing Steamboat Willie and other cartoons. This was a DD10 and DD7 favorite!
