Will it be possible for me to take my own pictures of my kids during their dolphin experience??? I'll forfit the dolphin encounter if I can get close enough to take some good pictures, however if I can't get close enough, I may as well join them!

Anyone have any luck taking their own???

You can take pictures from outside the area. I took video of our family and I was standing across from them and when I zoomed in it was like I was right with them! I am referring to the dolphin feeding at SW, so that may not be what you were asking about. I don't know about the dolphin encounter.

We were there in March, I think you could take pictures from the "beach area" but not get in the water. I think if you have a good zoom you could get some pics?? We did buy the smallest picture package...it is a lot of money but the experience is SO awesome that I didn't really mind spending it. Since the day is all inclusive it was the only money I spent all day..except for souveniers :)

The pictures they take are awesome. They are in the water taking the pictures. During the interaction your family will be between you and the dolphin with their backs to the beach so I don't think you can get very good pics of that nor see their reaction. If you have a good camera with a zoom and sports/burst mode you might be able to get the dolphin swim. You have to be the judge of whether or not the money for the pics/cd is worth more than you giving up the entire experience. We figured that was probably our one in a lifetime doing it so I wouldn't have wanted to give it up. We got the cd and those dolphin pictures are still among my dds favorites and we can reprint them whenever we want.

About how many pictures do they take? Will they take posed and natural pictures of the swim? I scrapbook and I am looking to have as many pictures as possible. Thanks!

I think the CD of pictures from DC is worth it. My mom had my SLR on the beach with the zoom lens and because of where our encounter took place she wasn't able to get great pictures, if we had been located differently maybe, but since she wasn't able to take pictures we decided to buy the CD.

I think we ended up with a hundred or so pictures on our CD, and it included all of the ones from the dolphin swim as well as from other parts of the park. They do pose shots of your group with the dolphin and then pictures of you kissing the dolphins, and then they had pictures of you when you were out in the deep water with the dolphins and of the swim back in. They had also taken pictures in the aviary of us feeding the birds and the stingray lagoon doing a feeding, the park photography got some great shots while we were feeding the stringrays that are hilarious to look at and we never even would have seen them if we hadn't bought the CD. Wonderful memories that would not have been caught any other way.

I don't scrapbook, but my Mom does and she made me an awesome scrapbook of our day there, using mostly the pictures we bought as well as some that we took on our own.
