Taking on the Wonder June 14th 2007 Trip Report w/ Pictures! (Completed 8/3 pg. 9)

Sorry guys went out to visit family so I'll get back to work on this Saturday. =o)

Enjoying this, thank you. We're heading for our first Wonder cruise(first cruise ever actually!), in December, so I love reading about it and seeing pictures!

I didn't realize you could go into the check in area so early! For once the Birnbaum book is wrong! This changes everything for us (in a good way :goodvibes )!

So, let me get this straight, correct me if I'm wrong:
-Check-in/security area opens @ 10:00am
-You can get on the ship @ 12:00pm
-You can go to your room @ 1:30pm

BTW, great trip report and keep it comin'!:thumbsup2

Yes you can get into the terminal as early as 10:00am, but you could be delay due ship later return or delay in customs. The official time for boarding is 1:00pm, but due to Disney always striving to do more sometimes you could board earlier. Staterooms are always available after 1:30pm. Just keep in mind that not all times are set in stone.

Ok, back to the regularly scheduled Trip Report.

After checking out our room we figured we put up all the luggage so that we wouldn't have to waste time doing so later, there were more important things to do tonight, like eat, eat and well....eat. So we unpacked, even with four adults we had no trouble finding places for everything and having plenty of room left over. Our stateroom had a huge closet with plenty of hangers, a dresser, trunk (which we declared the dirty clothes storage) and of course the drawers of the desk. Our luggage fit nicely underneath the bed, especially the duffel John convinced me to buy, thanks love!

So now that we had "moved-in", we figured since we had never done the shopping talk before and John's Mom was raring to spend some $$$ we headed up to the Buena Vista Theatre. Our host for today was Pipa, an overly excited brit who was a walking talking commercial for all the shops in Nassau. John and I had been there and done that and knew we had no plans to buy anything in town but we played along anyhow, well actually we had to because for some reason we sat in the front row right in front of her stand. Doh! There was a little lifestyles and the rich and the famous Robin Leach video played before the show and then Pipa came tearing out to a cheering audience, John fell over laughing. It was bad...lol. Apparently the lady next to us was on back to back cruises and had also been there done that but she was going back to spend some more, more, more and Pipa knew it, she became Pipa's best friend in selling everything and anything you could think of.

Pipa had some free items to the loudest person in the audience, things like a free stuffed teddy, t-shirts, etc. People go really crazy over these things, I mean nuts! People, save yourself the broken neck the shirts are 3 for $10 on every corner. Any who rant over, the show goes on and on and on... John's Mom falls victim to the Savvy Shopper book for $20 in which your promised all sorts of "free" things, more on this to come.

I'm "patiently" watching my watch and it's 3:20pm, yes it's got to be over soon, but not before some other overly excited guy who is down with art auctions comes running up to the stage and breaks into some southern praise dance about free art. Yes, we are out of here, we left and head to grab our life jackets, for those who haven't sailed before between 3:30pm and until the drill ends nothing operates on the ship. We head down to our station and after a few turn arounds we find station F.

This has to be one of the most hilarious aspects of cruising, set the scene, you've got 2,700 hot, anxious people who must don a life jacket packed onto one deck. Seriously it's important and we always attend but you do see some interesting things.

Here is John, it's a tradition for us to take our photo at the Safety Drill, so here is this years:

And John Sr. and Sue, this will be their inaugural safety drill photo:

And mine:

And everyone else at life boat station F:

Oh yes and for the first time we snapped one of our drill leaders as well:

We had a great Drill Leader, our assistant cruise director who added his own actions to the overhead announcements.

After we were told the basics, where to go, what NOT to bring, etc, etc, we hear the most Wonderful words ever "the safety drill is completed". SCORE! :woohoo:

This means it's time to run, I mean walk to deck 10 for Sail away our cruise is almost ready to set sail. We (myself, John Sr. and Sue) all head back to the cabin while John runs up to deck 10 to see if he can score us a table for the party, after the drill none of us want to stand shoulder to shoulder with 2,700 of our best friends again...lol.

We make it back to the cabin, drop off our jackets and head on up to 10.

:thumbsup2 Up next....Sail away!!
