Taking leftovers from restaurants ?

I have a question about taking left overs from restaurants, more so from buffets.

The reason why I ask is we have a character dining every morning for a 7 days in a row and my kids LOVE breakfast. I'm not saying go to the buffet and load up plates and ask for it to go, but if we have something left on our plates that our 2 toddlers can snack on through out the day.

I'm thinking maybe if we have a few extra mini mickey waffles left over, that it wouldn't be too terrible if i put them in the diaper bag to go.

I don't have any wisdom or experience to share, but I just had to post cause I love your name! My DD7 is a Shanna too. :)

Welcome to the DIS!!!

You are not supposed to take a "doggie bag" from a buffet, but I have been known to walk out with an apple or a banana. But a mickey waffle? Nope. Even if you could, it's going to be very hot in the parks and I would not want to feed my child something like that after having it sit on the diaper bag for hours in the heat .

I also have some unsolicited advice. You are missing prime touring time by eating a big restaurant breakfast every morning. You can get more done in the first two hours after a park opens than the next 5 hours combined. Even when it's not so busy. So, if you don't like standing in lines with your kids I would reschedule a couple of those long morning meals and go to the park early. Another suggestion is to push off your breakfast reservation to be the last one of the morning (around 10:45 am). You can get breakfast foods and lunch foods and you will already get your early morning rides in.

We are pushing for the last breakfast time of the day so we can get in at least 1 1/2 hours of prime time park hours there.

BUT maybe the OP got early hours-- before the parks opened for her ADRS.

I have been known to ask the kids what fruit they would like to take with them when we leave the breakfast. 1 because they are usually so excited to eat the Mickey waffles that they don't pay much attention to the other choices and 2 because they are so distracted by the characters themselves that eating becomes secondary. At home I try to make sure that they get plenty of fruits and vegetables and I do not want to throw their bodies off just because we are on vacation. So, we each take a fruit with us. Mom and Dad set examples. We don't take a bagful, just one piece each. But I wouldn't take the waffles.

I think you could take a piece of fruit. One, not 2 or 3 or 4. Honestly, I really think taking any food with you is pushing it. And I can't imagine having multiple leftover waffles unless you intentionally overload your plate so that you could take them with you. When you pay for a buffet, you are paying for the food you are eating at that meal. Not for that meal and enough food for the rest of the day. That is why they don't give out doggie bags at buffets.

Sorry but taking extra food from the buffets is not cool.

I think if you put the things on your plate and dont finish them by all means take a thing or two with you. It is going to wind up in the garbage can anyway so i dont see the big deal in this. Especially a mickey waffle that has been already eaten into.

Buffets are all you care to eat while you are in the restaurant.

Guests who have asked to take some/any items from various Disney buffets have been denied.

The theory of "if it's on the plate it's only going into the garbage anyway" fails the instant someone fills a plate with transportable items with no intention of eating any of it in the restaurant but invokes the 'it's already on my plate' argument.

Diners anywhere who expect not to eat an entire meal would probably be better served - no pun intended - by dining at a la carte locations, which do generally allow/provide to-go packaging.
