Question? My husband and I both like to sit down and relax with a beer in the evening. Is this going to be possible in Disney World? Also we are staying at the All Star Movies. Do they sell beer?
:bounce:

The moderates had beer in the food court so I am sure that All Stars will. Not a problem because they also have wine and coolers for sale. It wouldn't be a problem bringing your own back to your room.

We take beer (12-pk, case, etc) and cooler in with us when we check-in. It's no problem.

Thanks for the quick response. This is our first trip to Disney with the kids and we just want to make sure we stay nice and relaxed. We plan on stopping with our car service at the store on the way in and picking up beer, pop, chips etc so that helps me.

Getting your own beverages on your way to the hotel is a great idea. I usually bring what I want with me but one time I decided I wanted an adult drink and I paid something like $3 for one bottle of Mike's Hard Lemonade at the All Stars. They do have a selection of alcohol in the gift shop but you will pay a premium for it.

When we check in the hotel, it looks like we are having a party....I swear. Bring on the four bags of food, bring on the case of pop and beer, wine and, well, booze. I travel with a folding cooler and a tupperware dish filled with utensils, plates, etc. We, too, like to relax and have what we like to eat and drink whenever! DH is a grazer and eats CONSTANTLY!! Go figure...the man has a 28 inch waist!!!!

We have stayed at about 7 different Disney resorts and no one has ever said a thing! The bell guys like it because they know a big tip is coming! At the Beach Club they even put the stuff in a refrigerator in the kitchen until our room is ready.

So don't feel embarrassed or anything...as you can see....many people do the same thing!

The all stars sell beer in the food court, in the gift shop food section and at the bar, which is open until midnight 7 days a week.

You can also pick up great wines in the parks.

You will have no problem finding alcohol...except for in MK..there is none.

Enjoy!

So let me get it staight one more time. The only place we might as well not look for beer is in the Magic Kingdom? Otherwise we will be cool. Also I'm sorry I'm new to this board what is DH and is there a board that shows what all the initials u all use are? I get a little confused sometimes. :p Thanks

...at the food courts they have a one beer/one person policy. Last year at the AKL we had gotten back from a hectic day and just gotten the kids to sleep. DH commented that he would love a cold beer. When I ran down to the selfservice restaurant for milk for the kids bottles for the next morning, I popped a couple of beers from the fridge onto my tray (thinking I would surprise dh- dear husband in forum speak!). I was the one who got the surprise as they refused to sell me two beers.

I explained that my husband was upstairs with the kids and that he'd have to come all the way back down for the beer, but they explained that rules were rules. Luckily for dh, a kind lady in the line offered to 'buy' the beer for me. I handed her the money (in front of the cashier- she paid and handed me back the beer). The guy behind me in line commented that my dh was going to be glad not to have to make the trek back down for his cool one!(and believe me, it was quite a trek from our room)

Have a great vacation!

No alcholic drinks are sold at the Magic Kingdom, everyplace else sells beer etc. You cannot take your own alchol into the parks. Security frowns on that!

Also, beer is cheaper in the STORES at the resorts then in the food courts or bars.

I was going to raise that point, don't buy the beer in the food court, buy it in the shop. Also, you can buy a 6 pack or however many you want in the store, as opposed to the food court 1 per guest limit.

I never had that issue since I always brought my own or would buy them in the store (knowing they were cheaper) but I was at POR recently, and a woman asked the clerk in the store if there was a limit to how many beers she could buy. At the time, I thought it was an odd question (like, geesh, how many do you feel you need??? ) they then went on to discuss the food court policy, so I understood.

Keep in mind that all beer, wine and liquor is WAY overpriced at WDW, so don't be afraid to bring your own beer or whatever to the pool or food court, rather than paying their prices. :)

We live locally, and decided to drink around the monorail the other day, boy, those $7 drinks really add up!

hutt90...DH stands for Dear Husband. There's a list of abbreviations on the DIS Home Page:

www.wdwinfo.com

By the way.......Welcome to the DIS !!!! You'll find lots of really valuable information (and quite a few nut cases) here.

Sorry one more question. We are stopping at the grocery store with our car service on the way to the hotel but are there "stores" like gas stations or such outside of the hotels to buy beer and such from if we should run out? Within Disney Resort area?

There are no real grocery stores withing the resort area. The only other stores onsite are those at the resorts that sell general merchandise (including food and beverages), but you will pay top dollar.

Something for you to consider, is ordering from NetGrocer.com and having food and beverage supplies delivered directly to your hotel. Although, I don't think they sell beer. We've done this several times and it works out wonderfully. I've ordered snacks, water, juices, etc. and had them delivered just a few days before our arrival and the hotel held the held the packages for us until we got there.

If you're at the MK and need a cocktail break take the monorail to one of the hotels.

If you are really in need ;) and run out of adult beverages you can go to the Crossroads area, I believe there's a Goodings grocery. Without a car you could take a resort bus to Downtown Disney(DTD) and either walk (it would be a little hike, 15 minutes+, past the DTD hotels) or catch a cab from there so cab fare should be too much.
