Taking Food Pics

My hubby said that I'm absolutely NOT allowed to take pics of our food when we go next year...he says that draws too much attention and is embarrassing!

Have families ever said anything to you about all the flashing going on ???

I think people are so wrapped up in their own "magic" that they are not paying attention to what you are doing. I snapped a few pics of my food here and there and nobody seemed to notice.

No one has ever turned a hair at WDW when we've taken pictures of our food.

I did ask our serving team at V&A if it was acceptable practice in their dining room because I didn't want to disturb other guests, but they told me that people do it all the time and not to worry.

I've even been known to take food porn pics at restaurants here at home and while I've had a few people ask why, no one has ever complained. And most people either think it's kind of funny or a great idea ... just depends on how you feel about food.

We do try to be very considerate of people around us, though ... no one wants to be blinded by a flash while trying to eat their food.

We always take pictures. I think it's neat. No one will care if you are and if they do look over, who cares. You're at Disney, anything goes!

I took pictures of all our meals when we were there three weeks ago and no one said a word other than my own kids! They finally asked, "Can we eat now or do you need to take more pictures of my food?"

2) He is trying to protect you.
3) Taking pictures of your food at WDW
. . . can leave invisible deposits on food surfaces from not using a flash
. . . can leave invisible deposits inside food from using a flash
4) Such deposits can cause
. . . senility when you get very, very, very old
. . . the urge to over spend while on vacation
. . . erratic driving in female persons
. . . the need to return to WDW at a later date and leave money

My son hated the idea and would want me to snap the pictures quickly then hide the camera. LOL. But now, he's the one that reminds me to take pictures before we eat.

As for other guests, sometimes someone will glance our way when the flash goes, but mostly no one minds. And at times I swear I see a knowing smirk and think they must be other DISrs.

We've taken food pics and no one seemed to mind. We don't mind when people around us take food pics. I'd much rather see a flash going off for the sake of food porn than on a dark ride.

I hate when people are flashing away in a restaurant, but if it's with no flash and not bothering anybody, more power to them.

Exactly! And I would wager that on any given night (especially at ANY Character Meal), more of the flashes are because of pix of family then of food.

I'd always thought it was a little dorky, though I love pouring over the food porn threads. Then, last month I took a picture of my coconut cake at a restaurant near here. I couldn't help myself - they used a squeeze bottle to draw a coconut palm. I'd post it if I knew how. Maybe my teen will help me later.

People may have noticed the flash, btw. It was pretty dark in the restaurant.

I have never seen another person take pics of food and I have never seen someone staring at me but once, at Boma breakfast, I was taking close up pics of the buffet and this guy asked me if I was a food inspector! I told him I was scrapbooking my trip and said do you want to be the guy in my scrapbook that questioned what I was doing? He said sure, so I took his pic and deleted it when I got back to our table.

Trust me, no one is going to say a word to you and if they do who cares, you will never see these people again anyways! I say snap away and have a blast!

No guests have ever said anything to me about taking pictures of food. I've had a few servers joke about it, but that's all.

People (including me) take pictures of the weirdest thing at WDW. I would think food is one of the more normal subjects!

Okay reading this thread has made me feel better about taking food pics this trip. This will be my first time.

I've never had any questions or weird looks, but many times I will take photos of my DS and DH while I'm snapping the food so you never really know what I'm taking photos of... I did take photos of offsite food on our last trip, but the places were probably filled with tourists so anything goes.

I have encounted other DISers taking photos and it's fun to see. I know the "knowing smirk" a PP mentioned...and have worn it many times myself!

My thought is - I will never see these people again, so who cares what they think for the few seconds I am taking photos of a bowl of soup. It's the same thought process that gets me out in public in a swimsuit...

Ya, I'm gonna do it...we took pics of our food during our honeymoon in jamaica and still salivate over them when i see them...I'm not gonna care!

The funny thing about doing this at places other than WDW is you never know what the wait staff is going to think.

I took tons of food pics when we were in Vegas last year and at one restaurant our head server asked me if I was a restaurant critic. I told him "yes, in a manner of speaking."
