I can't remember what the rules are about taking food into America. Know you have to declare it but will they let me take in baby cereal and food? I want to have a few pouches just in case and he particularly likes Weetabix which is crazy expensive in Walmart, from what I've seen on the website.

Generally customs seem happy to let anything "dry" through, but anything fresh is a no no. Again, you must declare it all.

You should be fine with dry cereal :thumbsup2

When you get to immigration they will ask you what you have and again at Customs, they may wave you straight through or they may send you for an extra screening. The extra screening only takes a minute or so as they just xray your bags to check for prohibited goods/food.

You be fine with them, no dairy or fruit, we've always taken a variety of things with us, even squash.

I have to take all my meals on the place with me and it's always fine. I explain that the plane doesn't offer anything I can eat.

I also usually have Milka in my suitcase (it's very requested!) and almost always forget to declare it. :/

Sorry to jump on here, but I'm having the Weetabix problem too :lmao: I was going to take some for my little girl and it's a cert that she'll eat it and I know she'll have had a good breakfast :) So, as long as it's in my suitcase and declared on the form we'll be ok, is that correct? :) I'll do this if I have too, as I saw the prices on Walmart also and I was stunned at how expensive it was :rotfl:

Yes - as long as you declare by ticking yes to food on the customs form you will be ok :)

Does it slow you down going through customs? Considering taking some cereal too but won't bother if there's a chance it will slow us down! Thanks :)

Only by a couple of minutes if they send you for an extra scan - not enough to worry about:)

You should be okay. My son lived in London for awhile getting his Master's and he came home with his suitcase full of Digestives!!! Also Quavers (hope I got that right!). As others said as long as the things are dry. By the way, we went to visit him and I fell in love with your country!! I have since found some places here around Boston that sell digestives. Hope you have a wonderful time and enjoy our country as much as I did yours!!!!

Enjoy The Magic!!

I've taken Weetabix, cereal bars and the like. As pp have said as long as you declare what you've got and avoid the banned foods, dairy, fruit, meat etc. you'll be fine. It's never taken us any longer at immigration, last time we entered USA they said that's all fine & thank you for your honesty.:thumbsup2

I always take some kind of food with me.
When we went last time, there wasn't enough room on my customs form. It looked like I had bought a whole shop with me :rotfl2:
But I had no delays, they just did an extra scan.

Ohhh yes we all love your country. Ye it is quavers - cheese flavour chips as you say. Some of our stores called tesco have an american section but ridiculous prices. Still buy things though
