taking cab instead of ME back to airport?

Please do - but also please keep in mind that taxi meters are regulated by (local) laws, and that any taxi charging substantially less than $2.75 per mile is either not using a meter, or is a gypsy cab. In either case, the vehicle/driver is probably not officially licensed as a taxi.

And have an extra $20 or so handy so you're not shorting the driver who charges you the correct fare.

MCO is about 40 minutes away from Disney. I cant imagine it taking over 2 hours to get through security and board your flight on an average day.

But of course you never know how long luggage check-in and security lines will be on any average day. I've had security lines take up to 45 minutes on a Monday afternoon. Orlando is notorious for having long and poorly set up security lines.

MCO suggests you arrive at the airport 2 hours before your flight. That may seem like too long to many travelers, but it is the airport authority's suggestion. Car services will likely follow it.

If you follow MCO's own suggestion, you will probably get only about a half hour of park time out of paying for a taxi.

Add me to the list of people who've waited 30 minutes to check luggage and 30 minutes for security. If MCO says you should be there two hours before your flight, I'm going to err on the side of caution every time. To me, an extra hour on property isn't worth the the hassle of potentially missing a flight. If I end up having an hour at the airport, I shop, sit down and have a drink or bite to eat, or spend a few minutes reading.

You should aim to be back at your resort for your DME trip home an hour before the time on your confirmation.

Tongue in cheek comment from a mass transit advocate, or you're flying an airline that participates in resort baggage checking. If your last Disney activity is a meal, better to plan that for the airport. This can gain you some park time too.

What does this mean? We have a 6pm ish flight out of Orlando that we plan on using ME for. When we have to check out of CSR that morning is there somewhere that will keep our bags for us if we want to go to a park until our ME pick-up time? Thanks!

I'm going to move this over to our transportation board in case the fils over there have additional information.

You can leave your bags with Bell Services at CSR and retrieve them when you return to the resort for pickup. Just be sure and allow plenty of time to get from park to resort, retrieve your bags, & be at the DME pickup area 15-20 minutes ahead of your appointed time.

Not worth it! What if there is a traffic tie up from either and accident, construction or normal rush hour grid lock. If you did online check in and arrive late to the airpor the airline may classify you as a no show and cancel your reservation. Then would the extra time be worth it-NO it may cost you in the long run. Like a PP said there will always be next time.

For the regular Mears shuttle homebound your pickup time is typically 4 hours before your flight time for domestic flights.

If you can check baggage at the resort, then you have less to lug to the park if you want to make an airport getaway from there.
