I've been to WDW, and stayed on site, over a dozen times. The problem is that I've always gone with my then small children, so the Values were a no-brainer for us because of the theming.

Here's my new issue. I'm taking my "bonus" daughter on a surprise trip to WDW in January. She'll be 28. She's always dreamed of going, and it will just be the 2 of us for 6 nights. I'm on a budget, and will be using a dining plan because I don't want her worrying about how much things cost (she would always order the cheapest things, never want table service, etc.) If we stay at a Value, I'll upgrade the dining. I'm wanting to stay in the $2000 range, and using 2015 prices, that is quite doable at a Value (I think it priced at $1500 for SPD, and right under $2000 at regular, non-discounted prices and upgraded dining plan. I've been getting a lot of pins, so fingers crossed for that time period.... also, hoping for a SPD during that time).

Anyway, I really want her to enjoy the whole "it's Disney - in your face" kind of thing. I don't want her to feel like she's in any hotel, I want it to feel like a Disney experience. Since I've never stayed at anywhere but Values, I don't know if moving up to a Moderate (which I may do with a discount) will give that experience.

Can someone whose done both tell me the difference on the feel? Looking at the pictures, it seems like the Moderates really don't have the Disney theme that the Values do.

TIA!

I really think a Little Mermaid room at AoA would fit the bill! Don't you think that is the most immersive Disney resort? I love the theming.
For a moderate with a real Disney feel - I might go with the Port Orleans Royal Rooms. I love the theming of those rooms - princesses without being little girly! Plus fireworks in your headboard - that you don't get at a standard hotel!
It sounds like you are planning a very thoughtful and fun trip for a first timer!

Moderates don't have the 'in your face" Disney theming (a bit over done IMHO). However, the moderates have wonderful theming geared to the style of each resort. POR has southern charm, either in the rustic Alligator Bayou section or in the plantation-style mansion area, and the landscaping is gorgeous throughout. POFQ is very well themed in classic New Orleans style. CSR sports a beautiful southwest theme, and CBR is all about Caribbean islands. Check out the many photos on line. if you decide to go with a moderate, you won't be disappointed.

yea if you want in your face Disney - then definitely stay at the values - Love Pop Century!!!

of course there is another in your face - BLT seeing the fireworks from the MK from your studio/villa!!!

I priced it out through Davids and there is no way to keep it at around $2000 by renting a studio, purchasing the dining plan and tickets. I would say Pop or AOA are your best options. We prefer Pop to Little Mermaid just because AoA is all about little kids. Right now we are just two adults that are in between the kids/grandkid years. Sounds like you will be two adults. Pop preferred room would be my suggestion.
