I've been to WDW, and stayed on site, over a dozen times. The problem is that I've always gone with my then small children, so the Values were a no-brainer for us because of the theming.
Here's my new issue. I'm taking my "bonus" daughter on a surprise trip to WDW in January. She'll be 28. She's always dreamed of going, and it will just be the 2 of us for 6 nights. I'm on a budget, and will be using a dining plan because I don't want her worrying about how much things cost (she would always order the cheapest things, never want table service, etc.) If we stay at a Value, I'll upgrade the dining. I'm wanting to stay in the $2000 range, and using 2015 prices, that is quite doable at a Value (I think it priced at $1500 for SPD, and right under $2000 at regular, non-discounted prices and upgraded dining plan. I've been getting a lot of pins, so fingers crossed for that time period.... also, hoping for a SPD during that time).
Anyway, I really want her to enjoy the whole "it's Disney - in your face" kind of thing. I don't want her to feel like she's in any hotel, I want it to feel like a Disney experience. Since I've never stayed at anywhere but Values, I don't know if moving up to a Moderate (which I may do with a discount) will give that experience.
Can someone whose done both tell me the difference on the feel? Looking at the pictures, it seems like the Moderates really don't have the Disney theme that the Values do.
TIA!
