Hi everyone,

We found out yesterday that the insurance company denied coverage for the gammaglobulin that we think will help Rachel. We now have to go through a lenghtly appeals process with no guarantee of outcome. Meanwhile, Rachel gets sicker.

I can't tell you how miserable I feel about all this but I'm sure you can imagine. I'll be taking a break from everything for a while while we deal with all this, and have turned off my TA.

Talk to you soon.

Sharon

I'm so sorry to hear that the insurance company is giving you such grief and denying the claims for Rachels treatment. :(

I can feel for you. They are doing the same thing for me. They have turned down the only medicine that might have a prayer of taking some of my pain away.

Please hang in there and keep fighting and get as many doctors to fight for you as well.

(((hugs)))

Sharon, to hear of your insurance company woes...that's such a shame. I don't understand why they would not approve a "classic" treatment like Gamma Globulin (been used effectively for MANY purposes) for 40-50 years!

Hi Sharon,

I hope you win your appeal. It's incredible that you even have to go through this. These insurance companies love to reject claims to see if you will fight it. If you don't, they make out and if you do, they put you through appeals. Either way leaves a bad taste in your mouth about insurance companies.

I hope Rachel gets better soon.

Ouch! So sorry to hear about that, and I'm especially sorry for Rachel to have to suffer through it while it all gets resolved. Let us know if we can help out at all.

Ashley

I hope everything works out for you, and moves along smoother. :(
Gee -- hope it's not the insurance company I work for!

I did see an investigative invoice come through this week that I had to laugh over. It's an investigative outside source obviously watching someone. One bill was for car damage to the inverstigator's car. :jester: The amount wasn't too large, so this made me wonder if someone slashed their tire or busted out a light. ;)
Sorry -- OT. But thought this was funny.

{{{ }}} and *+*+*+*+*+*+*+* to all.

Sharon & Lauri, I can sympathize with both of you over insurance companies and prescriptions. I finally have a med that helps my knees, & the insurance company says I have to have the doctor contact them to make an exception. Never a dull moment when dealing with insuarnce companies. We just got a brochire form the insurance company about 2003 benefits - I haven't read it yet :(. Prayers & pixie dust to you all.

until they get smart... Rachel will continue to be in our prayers... caroline

God be with through this struggle. SO many times with my dad, I wish I could see through God eyes and have an understanding of why he lets us go through such times. But then I always remind myself of something I taught my 8th grade girls in sunday school, "Oops is not in the Bible and God makes no mistakes".

So hang on to Him, He loves you more than you can imagine

Hugs and prayers,
Winnie.

Sharon, Keep fighting for Rachel. I hope you can draw from the strength of all the good wishes here...

Hi Sharon,

I just went thru the same thing with my insurance company - I needed two needles that were $1000 a piece.

They rejected the claim, but I found a Patient Advocate that took my complicated medical history and went to bat for me.

They approved the needles and I have had my cancer screening and I am happy to say that I am still cancer free.

Fight for your rights - you pay good money for your insurance - how can they denie you your rights.

Good luck and lots of pixie dust your way.

Darlene,

I am not sure what kind of knitting you do but it is no wonder clothing costs are so high if it costs $1000 each for needles. What kind of yarn are you using, cashmire?

I am by no means an expert but I do work for a doctor's office and some of my patient's have told me that it to their advantage to take their struggle to the "state board of insurance". I am certain that every state must have one. More than likely their office are in your capital city. I don't think it could hurt to give it a try.
Good luck to all who are fighting with insurance companies.

That's what the insurance companies hope -- that the majority of people when told "no" won't pursue it further.

I have also rejected that first quick negative reply and forced a review that led to a positive response.

You know all that anger and frustration that this situation is causing you? Well, now you know where to focus all that energy! ;)

Also, I sent you an email with another approach.
