Taking a 3 month old to WDW!! :O Am I crazy?!?!

Our youngest was 7 months when we took him, but he was still primarily nursing (I nursed exclusively for 6 months and then he was slow warming up to solids). I nursed him everywhere and it was so easy!

I have to tell you, if you would have told me I would feel that way before he was born, I would have laughed. I was incredibly modest. Painfully so. But, the moment he was born, things changed. I am actually more comfortable nursing in public without a cover than I am in a swimsuit. I am very discreet and it is all about feeding my little one. Just keep an open mind and you may be surprised.

I grew up in Florida and went all the time. We took out kids for the first time in Jan and they were 3y4m, 1y8m, and 3m. My littlest guy spent almost the entire trip in a carrier nursing. Pretty sure that he is nursing in every single picture I'm in. It was a fabulous trip, and I'd absolutely do it again..... Actually, I am! We are going back in December.

Also,, you can nurse in all the shows, on slow rides, etc. I know I nursed on Universe of Energy, Spaceship Earth, Little Mermaid, people mover, Carousel of Progress, the train, the monorail, while pushing my double stroller.... small World, the list goes on. I only went to one Baby care center..... The day we forgot wipes. I find nursing in an upright carrier easier. I have a catbird Baby pikkolo.

We took our DS when he was 2 months old in December and it was FANTASTIC! I think it's going to be way harder when we go this time around in October when he'll be 1.

I breastfed/pumped, so i'd pump at the hotel in the morning and at night, and breastfed in the parks. Very easy to do.

Honestly, I needed that trip. As selfish as it sounds, pregnancy was not easy, and it was giving me something to look forward to (besides having him of course:lmao:) but it was good for the soul, I think.

My husband's first trip was at 2 weeks old. I'm convinced its why he loves it so much.

I have a DS7 and a DS 13 month. I am one of those mom's who does everything wrong ;) (work FT, formula feed, no slings, no co-sleeping, etc) so take what I say with a grain of salt. We do fly to WDW 2-3 times a year, so both my kids are becoming veteran travellers.

Both my kids first trip was at 12 weeks. Both did fabulous. They were just so easy and just went with the flow. Except for all the extra stuff to pack and the bottles to carry around/clean, it was such an easy trip. We had my youngest back in Disney again at 8 mo and he was still a breeze and content to look around in the stroller and he slept/ate anywhere.

We are going again next week when he is 13 month. Not sure about this trip....he's not quite walking but not sure how content he will be in the stroller and he is HEAVY (24lb) to carry. He is eating all real food now, so except for a sippy cup for him we don't need tons of extra stuff. My older son was there at 19 months, 2 years old and 2.5 and was AWFUL on those trips. The baby trips have been way more easy and relaxed than the 19 mo-2.5 trips. He finally did better by about age 3.

Not at all! I took my oldest DD at 2 months and the youngest at 6. The only issue for me was that we had a lot of latching issues and Disney became our deadline to get it ironed out. I had ended up exclusively pumping after the first week due to the pain. There was no way I could pump at the parks every 3 hours. With the help of La Leche League we fixed it.

My only advice is to get comfortable nursing in public early so you're a pro by the time you go. A cover was a PITA for me and DD didn't like it. That trip was my first real public nursing so it was a bit difficult. With my second it was a breeze.

There are baby care centers but I wouldn't plan on using them for every feeding. Sometimes at that age they're eating every hour. By the time you walk from the back of the park to the baby center, change, feed and walk back, sometimes they want to eat again. They're great if you're close but they're not an every feed kinda place.

Good luck with baby and have fun!

Oh! And get a wrap. Mine hated to be in the stroller for that long but loved to be worn. I used the Moby but its not great for long term wearing. To make your own, get 5 yards of gauze at a fabric store and cut it in half the long way. Done. You can use the holds and instructions from the Moby wrap site, this one is just lighter and stronger.

We took our 2.5 year old and 10-week old while I was on maternity leave. I nursed him so I could feed him anywhere and I didn't have to worry about cleaning bottles and bringing formula (that would have been a pain). We had low expectations for what we could get done but luckily both kids napped well in the stroller. I used the baby care centers a few times, but mostly I nursed in dark shows. Be sure to include the infant in your ADR's! We had a great time.

I don't think you're crazy at all. I haven't been to disney with a 3 month old- but thought my other travels/plane rides, etc were pretty easy at that age. I would make sure you have tried a variety of slings/carriers and really like yours. One of my kids would have been A-OK being in a stroller and passed around between other family members. The other liked to be held by me and moving ALL THE TIME - esp to sleep. So since you can't know ahead of time your baby's likes/dislikes- I would just be prepared. Even if it is crazy, noisy, out of routine- a sling can be so calming to baby- much more so than a stroller.

I only have one child, and I know at 3 months I was only just beginning to regain my sanity, and didn't fully regain it until he was about 8 months old. Actually, forget that, I'm still a little shaken from those first 3 months. The last place I would have wanted to be was Disney, or any hotel for that matter. Until your baby is born you will not know his temperament, so I don't know how you could make this decision without first meeting your child. He could be a colicky horror of a beast, or be the type that spits up ALL the time, or be like mine who would break into inconsolable screaming fits anytime the least little thing was wrong. I didn't feel comfortable taking my son out of the house even to the grocery store because of his screaming until he was 5 months old.

I'm hoping for you that you will end up with one of those dream babies that happily snoozes in his carrier, and you can carry him around wherever you want, but just be warned, not all babies are like that.

I also breastfed and at 3 months it can still be tricky and sometimes even messy.

I am currently 7 1/2 months pregnant with my first child. And I absolutely LOVE Disney. I've been at least 8 times and I even managed to convince my then fiancé to take a Disney Cruise for our honeymoon and it was amazing!!!

Most of our family on both sides are planning a trip to Disney the first week of December with free dining. :cloud9: But my future lil Disney Baby won't be quite 3 months old, and I'm planning on breastfeeding.

Am I completely crazy? Or is it possible to have an awesome trip even with an infant?? And advice or tips are more then WELCOME!!! :woohoo:

We are going to take 4 month old, and we took our other kids that young. I'd rather have them there at that age then 14 months on terms of easiness. They are a piece of cake then. Sleep, baby Bjorn, and feed. It'll be a great trip.

Our 1st celebrated her 3m birthday at WDW and it was a peace of cake! Our 2nd was 15m - also great. Our 3rd will be celebrating her 4m birthday at WDW this time and I can't wait.

All of y'all have been so helpful!! Thank you!!! :rotfl:

I am planning on wearing a sling most of the time so he feels secure and should sleep most of the day. My Mom, MIL, Dad, 2 sisters, and lil bro will be with my husband and I the whole time. One of my sisters and MIL is even staying in the room with us so we will have lots of help!!!

My Mom was a pro at nursing so I'm gonna get her to help me if I get stumped. I'm getting so excited that I'm slowly buying him a different disney outfit/costume for every day that we are there!!! LOL. He's gonna be so stinkin cute.

And I'm gonna share this just because I'm so excited!!

I just had a doc appt and she said I could go into labor at any point now. So its just a waiting game. :yay: I'm due Sept. 24th but I'm praying he comes a couple weeks early. Louisiana heat combined with being almost 8 months preggo is miserable!!! Lol. I'm also planning on a natural birth (without an epidural) so I'm gonna need plenty of prayers!!! :thumbsup2

Honestly, yes, I think you are crazy. I would wait until baby is at least a year before even thinking about going. Is this your first baby as well? Aren't you worried about exposing him/her to all those touristy germs?

ETA: I see that lots of familes do it without any issues, but I would rather go and be able to enjoy myself. To each their own, I suppose. Hope labor and delivery goes smoothly!

My sons first trip to WDW was when he was 3 months old. We even drove 14 hours from VA. He was perfect. I carried him in an Ergo and we used an upper end umbrella type stroller that fully reclined. When we went on rides we just put him in the carrier!! It was one of our best trips!!

I enjoyed myself WAY more with my infant than I did with my toddler! I didn't have to chase after anyone, put anyone in time out, or schedule my day around naps.

My kids don't live in a bubble so the Disney germs don't scare me - as a nursing mom I have passed on my immune system. I even let my DD kiss characters on the nose (just like that 1000 other kids had slobbered on that day). Plus - the infant touches far fewer things in a sling/carrier/stroller than my toddler does! The toddler runs hands along railings, puts everything in their mouths and plays with the dirt on the ground....

OP - I delivered both of my kids without meds (i have easy labors and terrible pregnancies). I highly recommend a hypno birthing course or book if you can!

I have also traveled with older infants and toddlers and the 4 month old was far easier than the others! No food or spoons to bring along, very portable and not yet fully regimented that she needed to nap at certain times or in a crib, and still light enough to hold when needed (we used an Ergo carrier in a hip hold most of the time - she was a good sitter and already crawling a bit by them and loved to look at everyone).

Way OT, I know, but your 4 month old was crawling?! Wow! That is amazing. High five!!! :D

Ha - we looked at it as being pretty terrible - there was nothing we wanted more than for our second child to not be mobile at a young age to make it easier to keep her out of her brothers things and to delay the full baby proofing....But she had a very different opinion...she rolled at 2 weeks, slithered at 4 months, and walked at 6 months.... I don't recommend it ever!!!

I'm not too worried about germs because he will be in my sling most of the time. Or one of my family members will be holding him. I def agree with a toddler coming in contact with way more germs!! Lol.

I'm getting more and more excited though!!!!
