Take the Magic away

random silliness checking in:banana:   Welcome, here have an anteater, he's hardly been used:)

You used the anteater.

Sick, sick, sick.

Hey Bosstoboss, due to one of your threads I received one of my tags, Thanks!:goodvibes

Enjoy at your own risk. Aww, it's not really too bad, as some mentioned, you learn which threads to avoid, which posters will most likely cause controvery & some nastiness (but entertaining in their own way).

OP, I used to try to defend folks I thought were getting picked on. It really didn't do any good. For the most part, my posts were simply ignored because they didn't follow the trend of the threads. When they weren't ignored, I would get blasted. It wasn't worth it.

I've adopted a different tactic. I still get irritated sometimes. When I do, I type up a great response, and then I back out of it without posting. It lets me vent, but avoid getting slammed. Not brave? Maybe. It works for me. I also avoid threads that I know will just get me worked up.

There are many nice people on the DIS. Even the nicest sometimes post things I don't agree with. That's part of being on the CB. People who start threads, on potentially controversial subjects, looking for support will most likely receive some non-positive feedback.

Don't let it get to you!

Don't let the CB scare you. I find this to be a really good mix of opinion, debate, support, inanity, and random silliness.

No joke. Witness how a thread on gun control turned into a discussion on bad booze, fast women, and guns. Whatta combo. ;)

Listen to Feralpeg...she is one of the nicest posters on the DIS!

I see some of the CB posters with attitudes have already welcomed you with open arms just in this trhead alone.

Please don't give up on the CB. I love it here and I am fairly thin-skinned with jelly as my backbone. There are folks here with a case of permanent panty wad, but here are folks who I truly appreciate. You will learn who to stay away from. Just like any big, happy family if you talk religion or politics you will end up with a blood pressure that has sky-rocketed. Those are the threads to ignore.

Welcome to the Dark Side! You are already sucked in and will find it hard to leave...seriously.

Thank you all for your wise and informative words. I will accept them with open arms!:)

p.s. What is a "tag"?

I have found wonderful caring support in times that I need it and I have found hilarious people to cheer me up when I feel down, especially the beautiful and witty Pam. Wow - she is just such a wonderful person! Lovely, charming, funny, caring, and most of all MODEST! I swear that her name should be "Saint Pam."

Please, Tina. Stop! You're making me

No, I mean it -- stop. I don't like being the center of attention. That's not what a true, caring and compassionate DISer is like! :sad2:

For me -- it's the opportunity of spreading  :goodvibes :cloud9:  and lots of lots of pixiedust:

And the occasional  and :dance3: !

I think I read every post in the thread, but I didn't see where anyone posted anything mean. The CB is a good-natured place. There is regular sarcasm and disagreement, but that's what makes life interesting. Walt Disney used conflict to entice people to sit and watch his films rather than leave after 20 minutes of hugs, agreement and mutual affirmation. If you all would like to see how relatively :cloud9: :cloud9: :cloud9: this board is, I can link some boards where some posts have sharp edges.

I don't know--I don't think the CB is all that bad.

I saw some poor poster over on the Theme Parks board who got blasted for asking if she was allowed to bring alcohol into CRT.

I can't imagine a more appropriate place for a good stiff drink. :goodvibes

:rotfl2: Well, actually, that was kind of my thought. When you drag dads and grandpas and BIL's along for a meal with a bunch of princesses, I could see why they might like a little something to take the edge off! However, there were many snarky suggestions about AA directed to the poor OP who merely asked if it were allowed.

AA? As in "alcoholics anonymous"? That's about par for the DIS course. I try not to drink before "beer thirty", but I don't diagnose every mimosa-drinker as an alcoholic without more. But that's why I love the DIS. I wish I had seen that thread. I'm sure it will get moved over here since it sounds so OT.

Yep--Alcoholics Anonymous! It's still over there on the first page--I was going to jump in but thought the OP might just be wanting to let the thread die. It seemed as though they were assuming an awful lot.

WOW! That's a great thread! See, that's what I love about the DIS. You don't need to go to a shrink or any MD, really. Just post a brief synopsis about your dinner plans and *presto* you've got your diagnosis and state mandated 72 hour involuntary committment to a mental institution. And you didn't even know you needed it! So much information is contained "between the lines." I need to start looking there too.
