take out from TE

Good morning!

We are leaving for the fort in a week! It is me and DH, 2 13 year old boys, 8 year old boy and and a 8 year old girl. So, what do you order to take back to the RV from Trails End that can feed a group of this size?

I have read that some of you get the fried chicken, is it enough for around 6 people? Do you remember about the cost?

Anything else?

We ordered the pizza several years ago and it was "alright", definitely nothing to write home about...

I thought I read on the forum that they stopped takeout, not sure about pizza. For us its just about as fast going offsite to hwy 535 to pickup something..

We like the chicken - pizza is "ok" and will fill you up (it's actually better cold IMO)

I think you're referring to the fact that you can now only get takeout for dinner - (5pm?) ...after the Meadows Snack Bar closes for the day??

I believe that's still correct, but maybe someone that's been there recently can confirm?

(btw, on the menu link on AllEars, they're still listing lunch availability, but that could be incorrect)

They used to have take out for the buffet, but stopped that a few years back.

We have loved the "Gitty UP and Go" chicken the last two times in 2007 and 2008 on the first night and plan on that again this December. We do like to take it back and crisp up the fries some since they can be pretty "LIMP" for our liking. We always have a lunch or maybe more from the leftovers which are also good cold.

Years ago, like 10 or 15 the make your own pizza was good and even 4 or 5 years ago the buffet was still good, but since then those have been marked off on our to do list.

The chicken takeout was surprising big enough for us (usually seven) although we made mac & cheese too for the youngest. Last trip we had nine of us, so we got two orders, ended up with lots of leftovers.

Thanks for your experience! I think we will just do that, one order, and then add a couple of things.

I have been trying to plan how many meals to plan for etc...
