I am not sur why, but sometimes you have ti insert a space between the last word and the [/color] tag... I think it has to do with the length of the word and the way the Dis reads it (vbulletin parses the word for the techies out there...)

An old friend called last night and invited us to spend the week at their beach house near Charleston, SC I am soooo excited! I'll drive to Goldsboro Sunday, celebrate Father's Day with my sweet dad then drive on down to SC! But, unfortunately, I can't take my dinosaur-era desk top computer with me so I won't be able to read all your posts until next Friday Maybe my friend'll have one there...you just never know

JUst poppong in a for a few...

Had to take my Dad to the ER yesrterday , he had some complications from his surgery..., they shouldn't have let him go home but .... we finally got him in a room late. They are telling us he will be there for another few days.. so I went and got his cat after I left the ER/Hospital. She wasn't thrilled about going to a min-vacation but and took her the finest abode in the NW surburbs.. the Family Cat Resort and Spa....

After she checked the place out last night, she thought it would be ok, ..I had on site calls this am , so I left her in DH's and the boys care..

as of now, the boys are entertaining her in FINE style..

I'm off to finsh a few things workwise, then take the boys to the hospital to visit my Dad..

I could use some advice,little brother went to the ER last night for what we figured was a freak ear infection and turns out he's diabetic(the diet controlled kind I think).I feel guilty since I was chatting in IM with DBF and had Cowboy Bebop in the background(session 6 and the characters on screen were eating cake).Any advice and should i hide my stash of cokes?

Hmm, apparently Shawn was...sick all yesterday so I didn't even ask to come to the movies....everyone else is busy so I guess I'll just have a fun time with the parents at least I'll see the stepford wives Well, I think I should go get dressed now...I've lounged long enough!!

I'm back with young hair.

We are going to California on Tuesday to see Ed's folks. They live right on top of the Hayward fault, (SF bay area) so I am praying for no <a href='http://www.smileycentral.com/?partner=ZSzeb008' target='_blank'><img src='http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/1/1_4_36.gif' alt='Earthquake' border=0></a>. Actually, we only have felt a tremor out there once, and it was when his parents lived in Fremont. I love visiting them, but it is stressful because Ed's dad is becoming a grumpy old <a href='http://www.smileycentral.com/?partner=ZSzeb008' target='_blank'><img src='http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/10/10_2_16.gif' alt='Fart' border=0></a> and we all sleep in the basement ... Ed and I are on the sofa bed and K & K are on air mattresses at the foot of the bed. It's pretty crowded, and with Ed snoring like $!#$!@, the girls don't sleep well and then they are grumpy too. Plus his dad gets up early and clumps around upstairs over our heads and sounds like an <a href='http://www.smileycentral.com/?partner=ZSzeb008' target='_blank'><img src='http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/16/16_3_167.gif' alt='Elephant 2' border=0></a>. However, his mother is a great cook and a wine connoisseur (sp?) and will ply me with fine Chardonnay each night at dinner. She is a riot - 73 years old, I think, and wears black leather and has an ear cuff. You'd never think she was a day over 60! Go Granny, go Granny, go Granny, go!

Toby is whining at me like he is about to pop a gusset, so I think I'll take him out before I am really sorry, and then I'll pop back in.

CS - Lots of PD to little brother. How old is he? Diabetes is tough on kids... I'm glad your parents took him to the ER.

You shouldn't feel guilty for having a show on TV with people eating cake! My DH is a diabetic, and one thing that they have to get used to is seeing other people eating food they can't have. Now I wouldn't suggest that you bake brownies and stuff your face in front of the little guy, but worrying about what's on TV is a bit drastic. As far as hiding your stash of cokes, does he love them? Can you finish these off and switch to Diet so that if he does get into one, it's not going to hurt him?

There is a lot of counseling that your family will go through with a new diabetes patient, and you can ask a lot of questions of the docs and nurses. Start writing them down, and take them with you so you don't forget to ask when you go with your brother for diabetes counseling. Hey, you may learn how bad Cokes are for you and give them up completely!
