I wasn't going to say anything, but I think I'll feel better if I do. :(

With regard to most of your comments regarding smoking, I know you all mean well, but I don't think you realize how hurtful they come across, at least to me.

Every smoker I've ever known doesn't want to be a smoker. Sure some may act like they don't care, but that is just a defense. Believe me, smokers know the dangers to their health. I know. I used to get stomach aches before my yearly pap smears. I was so scared that it would show cancerous cells. An intense headache would turn into a possible stroke. And believe me, although I smoked outside of my home, I knew how I smelled, because I was always trying to hide it from my family.

Think about walking into McDonalds and seeing a fat person eating a Big Mac, fries, shake, whatever. Would you ever go up to them and say "Do you know what is in that stuff? Do you know that it will harden your arteries and you'll die. And ew, do you know what you look like?"

Of course you wouldn't.

If you want to show your support to someone who is trying to quit, why not tell them "Good for you! I hope you have success. Is there anything I can do to help? Can I take your kids for a few hours the first day so that you can take a long walk?" Quitting is really tough. And smokers dread that first week of withdrawals.

I know you guys probably think I've jumped off the deep end here, but it's just something that really upsets me, and I love you guys and wanted to tell you.

:grouphug:

Enough of this karaptashatiga hoytiskite, speak amongst yourselves...

Shoot, Explorer just told me I had a critical error, I better post this before I lose it.

Hey look kids! It's the OTHER guy in the picture!

Yeah it's me!! I'm getting ready to get out of here and go buy the evil Billy some dog food, then go home! Had a long day, had an attorney for an author curse me out on the phone and say very "bad" things to me...so I hung up on him. But my bosses all said "that's the right thing to do when someone gets inappropriate and begins to curse." But it's one of those days, but at least all my bosses were on my side ('cause I did nothing wrong!) The author is a celebrity of sorts (really of sorts...more like the wife of a celebrity, really) and so her attorney thinks she's the most important PERSON in the world and we should all bend over backwards. Just cause she and her husband were featuring on that MTV show where they go inside celeb's houses. Yeah, I don't think so. No one uses the "F" word to me, five times in one sentence at the TOP of his lungs and then gets what he wants. NUH UH!!
Have a good night y'all!!

Oh, and if you're still on...I got the bagels.

Well Bichon Barb, in my opinion, I do think that's very well said. I for one, am not happy to be a smoker and am very, very aware of the risks associated. Have I tried to quit? Yep. All the time. For those that have never smoked, it aint easy my friend.

That said, Joe and I have committed to quitting. We plan on being smoke free by our WDW trip. This is the Summer of Quitting!

Except for me of course.

If it would make Jordan feel better about meeting us--we could meet Friday night at Goodberry's or somewhere well-lighted and with lots of safe space. NC Beast has to work at mid-night tonight and tomorrow. I was thinking about driving hubby to work anyway so Jessie could be boarded before 1-2pm on Sat.

We never talk negative about hubby's ex-sil/the mother of 2 nephews (bil and her were divorced just before we married). The boys have always heard us say good things about her and she sometimes lets NC Beast and I see them even when its not BIL's turn. Jordan can call for references. :wave2:
oops, in all my ranting and raving, I think I gave you the wrong impression.......no references needed.....

Jordan is VERY excited about meeting you and NC Beast and feels perfectly safe about it! It was my ex-husband who was upset. Jordan thinks it's hilarious that I refer to all of you as "axe murderers" and was as excited as I was to open all the packages from the "Swap". I was showing him pictures of RRBB and ohanafamily and he wanted to know what you looked like too.....

That is so sweet of you to offer to meet up with us tomorrow night but you'll see us soon enough on Sunday at O'Hanas or maybe even earlier by the pool at CSR :hyper: You and I can lie around basking in the sun slurping margaritas and munching nachos while Jordan and de Beast hit the water slide!;) :Pinkbounc :bounce:

cadburysmom ---I must have skimmed over too fast--I just wanted Jordan to feel safe. Don't be too close to water when one of us goes down the slide---big splash and possible tidal wave.:p

Deadheadbelle - Congrats on the resort decision ... that's the hardest part!

We stayed in a Garden Wing at the Contemporary a while back and it was fine and dandy. I missed Cheeringmom's bad experience. In a nutshell, what was wrong? I just LOVE being on the monorail, and you can walk to MK from there. I'm gonna wish we were on the monorail at about 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 31!!!

Just making sure ... Did you check into the pay for 5 nights, stay for 7 package?

llebrekniT don't tell anyone but I didn't volunteer for field day this year for the first time! I just couldn't take one more year of a day like you've had today. Yep, I am a bad person. <a href='http://www.smileycentral.com/?partner=ZSzeb008' target='_blank'><img src='http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/4/4_2_6.gif' alt='Sad' border=0></a>

Barb You are very right and I'm sorry to have contributed to your upset. I think those of us who have lost someone to lung cancer probably are over the deep end the other way! No offense intended!!! Remember, though, Rick knew he was asking for it when he asked the question... he said so himself! And he isn't a stranger... strange, yes, but not a stranger!!! :rotfl:

Rick - I'm behind y'all all the way. I watched my dad try to quit all his life. I know it ain't easy ... actually I think people who manage to quit are completely amazing! Let us know when to start cheering y'all on!

Joe ... bad potty-mouth attorney... bad ... bad... bad!!! <a href='http://www.smileycentral.com/?partner=ZSzeb008' target='_blank'><img src='http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/23/23_1_14.gif' alt='Great Big Hug' border=0></a>

You're right  and I'm sorry to have sounded so mean and unsupportive......and I'm glad you let us know this upsets you......I'd definitely rather know how you feel than keep on unknowingly hurting someone's feelings......especially one of my favorite Orange Divas! ::yes::

What about us red divas? Wait, I'm a guy. Does that make me ... uh no it's Devo!

Deadheadbelle I'm so happy you made a decision on your resort stay in October.....sounds great.....but.....just to be safe, I think you should pay to upgrade me and Jordan from CSR to CR next week...that way we can check it out and give you a full report!:p :teeth: You can never be too cautious, ya know ;)

And if our word isn't enough, I'm almost certain NC Belle and de Beast would be delighted to be upgraded as well!:teeth:

Gotta run pick-up Jordan from what is thankfully the LAST day of nightmare soccer tryouts......just hope we don't have any ugly scenes or ego blowouts like yesterday....... :p

Please don't mention DEVO:rolleyes:....gives me a migraine.....

...and please know I am very supportive of the reigning Slasher Flick King and his sidekick, the devil-ishly handsome other father of the Devil Dog himself!:teeth:

NCBelle, NC Beast and Cadburysmom, just to make it known to all asunder, I am officially jealous beyond all get out!

Have a great and wonderful trip to Disney!!!!!!

Well I came in here to ditto Deadheadbelle's excitement over our big decision!

Barb I sure hope I didn't piss you off. Honestly, I was just picking on Rick, as I love to do. Not trying to condemn or make a political statement in any way.

My mom has been trying for years to quit and at best has only been able to cut back a bit. She cannot do it. I don't believe that she ever will. When she had heart surgery the hardest part for her was that she couldn't smoke. She was livid at my dad for taking her cigarettes when he found her smoking in the bathroom of her hospital room. Wouldn't talk to any of us or speak to any of us for days. Wouldn't allow visitors or answer the phone. It was awful. She's as addicted as anyone can be to any substance.

Not passing judgement or condemning anyone. Nope, no way.

Just never miss an opportunity to pick on my gay-internet-boyfriend(s).

And btw - super-duper congratulations on your success thus far. You go girl! Hope we didn't send you looking for one...

I'm just popping back in to say good night as it is late here and I have to be at work tomorrow (but at least we have next week off :Pinkbounc )
Have a great evening everyone.

Hey guys. Chatty Kathys today. Sam's award ceremony went well. Over 700 juniors and only about 50 were given awards. She was pretty happy. The prinicPAL ewas telling me and dh nice things about our youngin!!

Kudos to RICK and JOE for trying to kick the habit. I know how hard it is. My dad was a pack a day smoker for years and the docs highly recommended he quit. It was tough and he has strong will power. Good luck <a href='http://www.smileycentral.com/?partner=ZSzeb008' target='_blank'><img src='http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/4/4_1_114.gif' border=0></a>

The place IMO was filthy. I mean down right gross-esp the pool although it was well staffed. Housekeeping was terrible. But they gladly took their daily tip. Sometimes they took it and didn't clean the room! Serioulsy. Front desk was worthless. Lauren was sick and they couldn't even tell me where I could locate a walk in clinic. They gave me the name of their on call doc-yeah like my insurance would pay for that-we're military. I have NEVER EVER complained before this trip. I thought it was b/c we were the garden wing but now not so sure. Anyway, hopefully things have changed by now. Or we just had a bad week. I love the convienience of the CR. I love to walk to MK. Wishes on the 4th floor was the best. But don't let this stop you BB. There have been plenty of good reports too!

Gotta run.

Well, add me to the list of folks "sorry to have offended". Rick asked & I just told my & my dad's experience with those little suckers. Best of luck to those trying to quit. I've watched lots of people try & try to quit. Some succeed, some don't, all know that it's not good for them. I know it ain't easy. When my dad quit he was mad because he said "everyone told me how great food was gonna taste.....doesn't taste any better to me". He's a nut.

Still friends? :(
