By our ferocious lab ;) named Jessie sleeping on the job on the couch. However, you're welcome to a Lindt Milk Chocolate Truffle to two anyway.

We've also got some Ben & Jerry's Ice Cream in the freezer, but NC Belle guards them. :)

My Katie has a feeding disorder which makes her physically and mentally terrified to taste anything unfamiliar. Her diet is very limited, even at age 11. When we were in WDW when she was 4, I carried a tupperware container full of Cheerios and any time we were at a character meal, or a meal where she was afraid to try the food (i.e. Whispering Canyon Cafe), I just asked for a bowl of milk, and provided my own cereal. I think she lived on Cheerios, french fries, and chocolate ice cream on that trip!

cadbury's mom - have a Lindt dark chocolate truffle or two or three or four...
I'm so sorry to hear about Katie....do they think it is something she might possibly grow out of? I have a friend who won't send her DD to camp because she's afraid her daughter will refuse to eat any of the food....I wonder if she suffers from the same thing. How was your daughter diagnosed or is that just so completely obvious?

Oh, and thanks for the truffles, Lindt is also one of my favorites:teeth:

Ohanafamily, LEWSKI and I don't have annual passes, so our plan is to do MK on one of the full days and Epcot the other. In other words, we'll be buying two one-park admission tickets. The only evening we'll be in the parks is on the day that we do Epcot, because we're pretty sure we want to do the Food and Wine festival.

As far as breakfast goes, we are game! We could have breakfast at the MK if it's on the day that we are going there. Same goes with Epcot. Otherwise, we could do Chef Mickey's or something like that. LEWSKI, I hope you don't mind me talking for you.

Are TB and DHB's families coming to breakfast? Was there mention of the families being at a water park when we have our breakfast meet?

I'm sorry to hear that too. :( I have a friend whose daughter has a problem with food textures. Certain foods will actually make her vomit. :( I think that is a hypersensitivity disorder???

Hi...I just called the Disney travel agent number and asked about "non-eating" children at a character meal ... The Official Mickey Answer is that "the $5.00 entertainment charge has been eliminated, and it is up to each restaurant whether they charge for the meal or not. They will work with you and try to provide something your child will eat, but it is not guaranteed." A flimsy answer, I think!!

Thanks for checking Iluvtink. Sorry about katie. I understand. My Lauren is the same way.
Hang in there. When they get to be teenagers, they'll eat anything!

Okay, don't flame me, but I've had dinner at Ohanas twice. The first time was fine, but we took my in-laws there last year, and I was extremely disappointed.

It was me, DH, Eric, Hunter, DMIL and DFIL. They brought out the bowl of this and that. I thought it was the appetizer, because they gave us about a cup or two of rice for six people. :confused3 We had that finished when they brought out the meat. When I finally realized that they weren't bringing out any rice or potato or anything, I tried to find our waitress. She was no where to be found. The dinner was so rushed, there was only one race of some sort while we were there, and of course that was when the food came out.

Here's the trick for a relaxing Ohana experience (we made our dinner there last over 90 mins this last time). First, order a DRINK...(I recommend a ZOMBIE) ...send them away if they try to bring you the first course. We also told them no bread/no rice/no potato/no egg roll, so they brought us extra veggies with the 'appatizer' course. Then when they tried to bring us meat.....we sent them away again. Then we asked for more chicken wings and salad...and sent them away again when they tried to bring the meat. We just did a "no thank you, cousin, we're not ready for that yet". And we could have made it last longer if we'd done dessert and coffee after (but my goodness.....I could barely choke down a piece of pineapple with carmel sauce :p )

OK, heading home from work now.....it sure was a long day and I sure wish I was heading for my room at POFQ instead of my house!

Anybody know when the AP rates may come out for Oct bookings? I know they only have them thru July 4th right now.

Thanks! It's been an unusual journey with Katie. She has been diagnosed with Sensory Integration Dysfunction... which affects different kids different ways. It can be a balance and coordination issue, or problems with textures, smells, sounds... it depends on which of the senses aren't "integrating." We're really lucky compared to some families dealing with this issue. Katie doesn't have an IEP, and most teachers spot her as "quirky," but since she's so afraid of being embarrassed, if something does bother her, she waits until she gets home to melt down. She's sensory avoiding with food, certain textures of clothing, and she has a sense of smell like a bloodhound. She's sensory seeking in that she loves the teacup ride and could do it over and over and over again, and is always fiddling with something. I never had to worry about her drinking poison under the sink, since she wouldn't even taste orange juice, but I was constantly pulling coins, marbles, bobbypins, even a thumbtack out of her mouth when she was younger!

As far as her food phobia, she had an incredibly tough time switching from me to a bottle, even with expressed milk. (Hope I didn't give anyone the heebie-jeebies with that.) She also screamed every minute she was sitting in the car seat facing backwards if the car was not moving. As soon as she was a year old and could face forward, it was not ever a problem again. She began spitting out certain foods as soon as they had any texture beyond baby oatmeal. The typical "try it over and over and they'll get used to it" did not work with her. We didn't know this disorder even existed, and by the time we realized she was phobic, there was not much we could do, short of sticking her in Children's Hospital and letting them "starve" her into eating regular food. Just couldn't do that to her.

It's not something she will ever outgrow, but peer pressure will cause her to try a few new things, I'm sure, like maybe a different brand of mac n cheese at a friend's house or restaurant. After our first night on the Disney cruise, our waiters automatically brought her chicken fingers and french fries only and chocolate ice cream for dessert. She really doesn't want to be perceived as "weird," so for example the other day at lunch, she tried a dry piece of Captain Crunch cereal that someone had in her lunch. She NEVER would have done that a year ago! So we have a flicker of hope!!!

For your friends' info, there is a wonderful book called "The Out-of-Sync Child" by Carol Kranowitz... it has a checklist inside to help parents "pre-diagnose" whether or not their child might have it. If they can get into occupational therapy before age 4, a lot can be done to help avoid bigger problems later. If only we had known. <a href='http://www.smileycentral.com/?partner=ZSzeb008' target='_blank'><img src='http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/4/4_2_100.gif' alt='Bang Your Head' border=0></a>

Sorry for the long post, everyone, and doubly sorry if I've posted this all before. My memory is the size of a pea.

OHANA!!!!

The weirdest thing just happened to my computer... I got a McAfee pop up window that said it had stopped and deleted a Trojan virus, and when I pushed the "details" button, this is what it said:

File: instnotify.exe
Trojan name: Generic Backdoor.b
File Path: C:\Program Files\MemoryWatcher
Status: Deleted

Do you know what "MemoryWatcher" is and if I need it? Seems like I should delete the whole file path, unless that's what McAfee is trying to tell me it did!

I re-booted and computer was soooo slow. Then Internet Explorer wouldn't open, and I used Netscape Navigator to get back to the Island. Now the hard drive light is just going to town, blinking and flashing... do you think I need to worry?

Thanks! ILT

OHHHH!! Huggabaloo ... welcome back. You missed more than I can tell ya! How's Orlando and the new job?

Hi everyone! :wave2: Remember me?!?!

Sorry I've been MIA for so long. It seems I've either been very busy or very exhausted. I started my job sooner than I originally thought and getting settled here has taken longer than expected. I'm finding out just how odd FL is when it comes to governmental administrivia (driver's licenses, insurance, tags, etc.).

Gosh, I don't even know what else to tell you guys. There's so much!

Thanks for all the good wishes and positive thoughts.

I owe a huge apology to ibouncetoo for failing to respond to her e-mail. Please forgive me!!!! :worship: I promise to buy you any two delicious beverages the next time you are in town. ::yes::

I also need to both apologize to and humbly thank ohanafamily for keeping me in the loop and making me feel guilty for not checking in with you guys. ;)

I hope everyone is doing well! I'm not able to check in while I'm working, but I'll try to do better when I'm home.

Love you guys...mean it! :grouphug:

I'm so happy to hear from you....I didn't know how much I'd miss you until you were gone! What's up and how's the new job. Are you going to be able to visit the thread like before? I certainly hope so! I was just asking about you last night and ohanafamily said he'd gotten an email or PM from you earlier this month.

Believe me, Mr. Popular, you have most definitely been missed around here :teeth:

HuggaBaloo Oh, you must have posted while I was still typing. Sorry you can't join us during the day but please do visit at night. We've got a bunch of fun new people......you've just got to read thru the pages when you have time to find out all the news. I'd tell you but believe me, ohanafamily and llebrekniT are pros at giving you a rundown.

Well, Cadbury's drooling on my leg and I've gotta walk her before she has a fit....it's good to hear from you......we miss you so make sure to check in often!

Nakey is Wunderful, Nakey is Fweeee!

OMG OMG OMG, this is one recap no one can handle. You missed me boyfriend.

I was asked to come to Ocala for an interview on 5/10. I called today to say "no, thanks" politely as they wanted me to foot the whole bill.

That's about it. <a href='http://www.smileycentral.com/?partner=ZSzeb008' target='_blank'><img src='http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/4/4_1_72.gif' border=0></a>

We are in the same <a href='http://www.smileycentral.com/?partner=ZSzeb008' target='_blank'><img src='http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/1000.gif' border=0></a> without a paddle HuggaBaloo.

Oh and Bichon Barb and I are rooming together for the Oct meet. It's for sure! ::yes:: We are trying to convince iluvtink and kadaten to join us, but iluvtink is really giving us grief and kadaten, I am sure, will be discussing it with her DH on her upcoming trip.

<a href='http://www.smileycentral.com/?partner=ZSzeb008' target='_blank'><img src='http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/3/3_2_120.gif' border=0></a> story#3:

My darlig ex, again, called the special crimes and drug enforcement agnecy for dealing drugs out of my townhome. I was off work one day, at 7am, still sleeping and boom boom boom on the door. **as if the other door booming wasn't enough....see previous police story** It was Jamie B****** (name concealed for identity purposes) from the SBPD DEA Unit. I knew him, he knew me. Said my place was reported for trafic. OMG, I was in shock. I said come on Jamie, this is some sort of joke, right? No, Lewski709 it isn't. I said, but you know I've reported several people and I know the deal. You scope the place for a bit, then if activity is there you check it out. Yes, but Lewski709 you know this.....and you've helped us so we know you know the normal procedure. Can we come in? Yes, of course. Come in....followed by 3 other officers. I sit, they look. Sorry Mrs. Lewski709, it must have been a prank. Uh, yeah.........you think Jamie. I apologize Lewski709, but we had to check. Have a good day! They left.
