Rick, why not suggest you? Is your apartment already so perfect that it doesn't need any help? :)

Or maybe they are looking for someone who will make us all cry when they fix it up because it was so bad? I cry every time I watch the ending to that show!

Part of me really wants to suggest Joe and I. We have a great story for them. The guy I spoke to said they "want to find a New Yorker who gives back to the community." That's us!

I was originally a volunteer at City Harvest, then I went on staff full time. I made the drastic career change as a direct result of the 9/11 tragedy and my personal need to change things in my life. Joe started volunteering as one of the first folks to work on a small project. With his work, that project started to grow and we've since had to hire one full time and one part time person to manage it. Plus, he's now on our junior board as a co-chair.

I SHOULD mention me but I think it'd be wrong. It's just tough. I can name dozens of GREAT volunteers that help us all the time but the guy wants at least two people who live together. I can't think of anyone!

What's the name of the show? I don't think I've ever seen it. Do they surprise the homeowner? How does it work?

cadburysmom, sent you TWO pm's.

Hey everybody! Had a very successful shopping trip today. Ahhh, feels wonderful, haven't been shopping in a while. deadheadbelle and I met DMIL and shopped, then went to lunch. It was fun. I found some pants I've been looking for and bought then even though - gasp!- they wereNOT on sale! I'm usually a bargain shopper, but they make my behind look smaller, soooo....

Shoulda bought two pairs!

I'm going to catch up, back in a bit!

Hey everyone!

Back from shopping with llebrekniT & my mom. Got Lainie a new pair of PJ's for $6.97 at The Gap. Bargain.

Looks like the partay is in full swing. I am heading to the hot tub, could someone get me a Pina Colada? I'm feelin' coconutty today. :teeth:

Bichon Barb, the show is called Extreme Home Makeover & they completely re-do someone's house. They practically gut the house & start over. I have a friend who works on the camera crew on that show. He dates my friend who lives outside LA & works for the casting company. Anyway, up until now, all the families that they have helped are in California. They picked the show up for another season & now they are venturing East. The show is on Sunday nights at 8pm. I always cry at the end when the family gets to see the finished product. They send the family on a vacation for 1 week while they fix up the place. Last week the family was sent on a Disney Cruise (it is on ABC).

Do you think they'd redo a house that was built in 2000? :teeth: They could just head north up the thruway a bit. I'd like my basement refinished. I'd like hardwoods on my stairs. And they can take out all the wall to wall upstairs. It's sad that my carpets are so bad already. But Otto wasn't completely housebroken when we moved there, then Heinie had bladder stones, so he was having accidents in the middle of the night, and then we got Beanie and had to housebreak her. Now I've got big spots from the chemicals I used to clean the carpet.

I love my dogs.

Oh BTW Deadheadbelle
and llebrekniT, congrats on the successful bargain hunting! My kids need new PJ's too. They like the cotton long john kind. Did ya see any sales? Probably all summer PJ's out now, huh?

Hey, Deadheadbelle, maybe you can cicuitously mention RickinNYC to the casting director...something like he is the best choice; lifestile and orientation.....

OK, goota scoot...

:bounce:

The ones I got Lainie are cotton 2-piece pj's. They are long sleeved with long pants. I doubt the summer ones are on sale. We use A/C in the summer, so they need long sleeves year 'round.

I already suggested myself to Phil (the camera guy), but I don't think I am good enough of a person to deserve it. I mean, I don't kill people or anything, but the people on this show are really good people. I think RickinNYC & Joe would be quite deserving. I don't think my friend has anything to do with the selection process. He just shows up & works the camera. He just got a new gig too! He is in Philadelphia right now setting up all the in-house cameras for the new Real World that is supposed to start filming soon. At least I think he is there, there was some labor dispute in Philly with MTV or something, I think they got it worked out.

s&ksmom congrats on getting your daughter into pre-school. It's like getting them into the college you wanted, only a smaller and way cuter scale.

Ohana sorry abou your belly, hope it's getting better, did you try Alka-seltzer? Saw one of your tags are back, where are the rest? Followed your techie talk pretty well, but what in the blazes are you talkin bout with the refillable mugs?

Cheeringmom, we LOVE your hair, in the picture, but how's it doing today sweetie? and did you read my last post directed toward you? I'm YOUNGER!

I'll be back with more.....

Can you imagine being a camera guy for Real World? Oy vey! The stories you could tell.

I'm just killing time here for a few minutes before I have to leave to pick up Eric at his friend's house and then go home from there and relieve Oma and Opa of babysitting duties. Oh, and I found a cute ranch for sale near my home on realtor.com. I want to drive by there and check it out to see if it might be something for my parents. It's not a ranch, but since it's a cape, it should have the master bedroom and bath downstairs, right?

I'm sorry. I must be boring you guys.

He is just setting up the cameras, then getting out of there. He is on contract with Extreme Home Makeover, so he can only be away for a short time.

Chow guys. I'm leaving. Oh and BTW, DH is on Long Island today--not New Jersey. Great wife I am.

Anyway, told him to wave to you Rick, when he passed the NYC skyline.

Yessirree, he is the BEST! The defragmenting has been going on for 25 minutes and it is only at 37%!!! I was in bad shape.

As far as deleting and uninstalling - Do I need to uninstall everything that the Adaware program found? It just had a delete button that I thought got rid of 265 spying popping up Trojaning browser hijacking things. I don't know if I did it right?

Ooops - gotta go pick up Kelley. I'll be back!

:) Thanks!
ooh you are going to have to asK OF about that. We just uninstalled b/c I THINK it just goes into a recycled file(or something like that) and actually stays on your computer. I have got to be the most computer challenged person on the Tagliarchy so OF or RBB are the ones to ask. I'm sure there are others with the techinical gift. Not I!!!

And TINKBACKWARDS I didn't see what you wrote. I'll have to go back and look for my great hair pic and read !! BRB

Just wanted to add that they always choose a REALLY deserving family. So far they chose a family that bought a fixer-upper and then dad immediately got sent to Iraq so the mom and 3 boys were living in an unfinished house....they re-did it and surprised mom and kids with dad coming home for the reveal!! There was also a social worker who had adopted 2 or 3 kids noone else would take.... and a family whose teenage son had some type of accident that left him paraplegic in a wheelchair and he hadn't been off the first floor of his home since the accident...they made the whole thing handicapped accessible...even put in an elevator!! It's a real tear-jerker every week :)

Not sure...some of the capes we looked at didn't really have a master. 1 BR downstairs and a hall bath, 2 bedrooms upstairs (one big one supposed to be the master) but sharing a hall bath. Loved everything about that style except for the lack of a true master suite....but they may have been redone...so it's probably worth your time to take a look. So, your parents moving close to you? Are they already in the same city? I'd love to be close to my in-laws, but since we move around so much, they're not about to follow us anywhere :(

Well let's add you to the honoree's list...So, who is your celebrity bartender going to be?

I will need Ewan McGregor AND Hugh Grant. I'll need both of them to send lots of their cute, boyish, flirty smiles in my direction and they can take turns delivering my drinks and snacks and what-not.

Ok, all caught up.

I love "Extreme Make-over Home Edition" too!

Gotta run!

Oooo...Hugh Grant! Can I share? I've always been a sucker for that cute, boyish look!! Wonder if he gives a good massage?

Speaking of cute, boyish looks, I know I complain about my terrorist DS quite a bit, but he's actually been OK today (great if you forget that he regularly pummels his sister these days  ). Anyway, while he was taking a bottle before nap I started tickling his feet....just to hear his adorable little belly-laugh :) It's the cutest!! He just loves to laugh and be tickled :hyper: His cute looks draw you in, but beware of that evil little twinkle in his eye....he knows trouble and is looking for it when you see that face ;)
