ibouncetoo, I don't know where he's flying in, nor do I know when he's supposed to arrive, so I can't tell you to wave at him! I think he knew I'd freak that he's on a corporate jet or plane, and so he was trying not minimize that part! ibouncetoo

RickinNYC - I think you may be right on the Horrors of the Black Museum or whatever you said it was. I give you "props, dog", whether you are right or wrong...

Who is going to get the boot on AI tonight???

Please let it be Fantasia, Please let it be Fantasia, Please let it be Fantasia, Please let it be Fantasia, Please let it be Fantasia, She hardly did big band. Since when did Queen become big band. Give her the hook!!

Wow! This is a hard QOTD. I'm terrible at remember titles and authors. I guess I'll start with childhood/teen books:

My first Oprah "Ah-ha!" moment ( ) was from a book that I read. I must have been about 11 years old when I read:

"THE LITTLE PRINCE" by Phillip St. Ex-somefrenchlastname

I'm surprised that I "got" that book at such a young age, because I'm not a "got it" kind of person.

Other great kids books:

Charlotte's Web - E.B. White (first time I cried while reading a book)

Are You There God It's Me Margaret? - Judy Blume (Isn't this the favorite of every pre-menstruating girl ;) )

One Fish Two Fish - Dr. Seuss (One of my hippy brothers must have bought this for me, because my mother hates Dr. Suess. Whatever...)

Alfred the Little Bear - have no idea who wrote this

HI JOE!!!!

OK, How cool is this,

Benji is in town doing a movie promo. Our CFO knows the people who own the movie copany and she brought Benji(4) to my office. I got to pet the real Benji.....

:bounce:

I LOVE BENJI! :Pinkbounc OF, you lucky duck! Did you get a picture?

Joe, I have read the whole series (patronized your company). I like the first book way better than the rest...

OK, since you have access to screwy book knowledge...
There was a series of science fiction books from the 60'/70's by I think it was Mack Reynolds, but I am not sure... it was about the Interstellar Patrol. I had a friend in College that gave me an Analog with the short story that started the series, but I was never able to find any of the books. I think I still have it...Not It was out of print in 1983, so I doubt there is any hope of finding any of the series...

I like the Idea of the IP, they had a great way of recruiting. The ships were pure AI, and would wind up in junk lots. If it liked the person it worked well, and trained them to be agents. I think I will go and find that book tonight.....I think I know where it is.

Thanks for the offer, I Really appreciate it...

ohanafamily - I got your e-mail and will try it in a little while. You'll know if my IE works after that because I will have all the smilies again in my posts. Also, I bet you would like that book, "The Eight." It is very involved, includes some really neat mathematical and musical concepts, time travel, and it made me have to really use my brain. How anyone could have come up with the plot is totally amazing to me!

I would LOVE to see Fantasia off that show. I like LaToya best, but I'd rather see ANYONE win than her ... even poor redheaded John Stevens. I just cannot abide her attitude.

Oh, does anyone have ressies on SW to go anywhere? I had booked seats out to Oakland in June, and the tickets were $356.80 a piece. I just checked the prices again, and there were some new seats available for $99 on the going out trip. Even though I booked on line, I called SW and the agent talked me through this... I did each of two seats separately because I wanted to get online boarding passes...

I went ahead and booked the 1st seat at 99.00 and went all the way to the window that said "apply ticketless travel funds." As soon as I was there, the agent on the phone cancelled my existing seat, and then I immediately was able to apply those funds to the new seat. As soon as I had pushed the "purchase this ticket" button, my seat was held so that no one could get it during the time I was cancelling and re-entering my info for the new seat. I did that twice in a row, and the ticket agent was so nice and helpful. I just saved $80!!!

Thanks to Rick, I'm searching the internet for a copy of Alfred the Little Bear ($35 used is the best I've come up with).

I've decided to list my favorite guilty pleasure books--'cause those are the ones I remember. :smooth:

The Most Addictive Book Series Award goes to:
"Flowers in the Attic" by V.C. Andrews (Hey, I was like 20 years old)

The Most Schmaltzy Make You Cry Award goes to:
"Beaches" (read that one in two days while on vacation) :o

The Best Stephen King Book Award goes to:
"Pet Cemetary" (didn't read the Stand)

The Most Guilty Pleasure Award goes to:
"Dreamcatcher" by Stephen King

The Scariest Book for a Mom to Read goes to:
"The Deep End of the Ocean"

This one isn't a guilty pleasure, but it does get an honorable mention from me:
"I know this much is true" by Wally Lamb

I don't read much. Favorite childhood books were Judy Blume's series with Pickle Juice, God...it's me Margaret, etc.

I did like the book Left Behind, but I haven't read any sequels. I read that in Mexico and haven't been back, so no sequels. Remember folks, I have two small kids. Who can read???

Good evening everyone,
Well the rain held off and we took our kids on a walk this afternoon which made a nice change to sitting in a classroom.

So we are talking about books then. Right now I am reading Harry Potter and the order of the (for the 3rd time.) I have nearly finished it and will then read The prisoner of Azcaban (for the 5th time) before I go see it in the cinema (I have my ticked booked already)
When I was younger I loved reading the Famous 5 books by Enid Blyton and the Nancy Drew books. Plus I liked Charlottes Webb, The worst witch books and the Chronicles of Narnia series.

So does anyone have good plans for this evening? I don't. DH has his exam groups course work to collate as it has to be sent to the examiner tomorrow so he will be busy. I think I might watch some of the new DVD's that I ordered which arrived today or I might watch Freeky Friday which I bought a few days ago (it was one of my favourite films when I was younger so I had to get it!)

I ordered the Disney Magazine. I know it's probably nothing exciting, but I am excited about it coming and it was 7.50. :teeth:

OK, I forgot to answer... I didn't think to take a picture until it was too late. One of the guys in our office was given a special Dog Bowl by a vendor, but since he lost his dog in a divorce, he gave it to Benji. He got a picture to send the vendor.

I'm looking for a new bike for Eric. Check out this thing I just came across. It comes out on the 15th.

HI JOE!!!! :) :) And hi to you Bichon!

Ohana, you're welcome for the offer, and it does extend to others as well. We do a lot of SF, Fantasy, and all kinds of fiction/non fiction and travel guides, etc. So just let me know.

Ohana, I never heard of that series of books, so that, at the very least, means that we don't publish it. But if you ever want to find a good source of out of print books, go to abesbooks.com, (or abebooks, but I think it's abesbooks). It's a really great resource for out of print books. Not too expensive, either!

I have to get back to work right now, 'cause my boss is out again today, so I need to get a lot of stuff done, so in case I don't get back on before the end of the week (which I may...you never can tell with me, right!?) HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY TO ALL YOU MOMS OUT THERE!

joe

can anyone recommend any good vampire books? I read tons of Buffy and Angel plus I'm hooked on LOTR and Harry Potter
