I'm hoping you don't mind if I jump in.. :surfweb:

We've not seen flight of wonder. But, I love just seeing the birds at AK so it sounds like it would be worth going to in June.

Just think, both Anna and Amanda are going to be in the World this weekend. I can't wait to read all about their trips.

MORNING ALL!

I just had to make my DD9 put on a dirty uniform shirt to wear to school. When we were at Japan in Epcot, she asked for 3 of the stuffed Pokemon dolls. At $15 each, that was more than we wanted to pay. I told her we'd buy one and she'd have to work off the other two. At $5 a week for laundry, that'd be 6 weeks she'd have to do it without me pestering her. Well, she didn't do it the last two days (even though I gently reminded her to.) So now, she knows the importance of doing laundry.

Wearing dirty clothes may not bother her for long. Teens get lazy. Most would rather pick up a dirty piece off the floor than do laundry. :lmao:

She's already got that attitude. She's a lazy cleaner, like me. But she didn't like the idea of a dirty shirt. When she gets home, she has to do laundry before TV or anything else. If only I could get her to fold the laundry nicely, I'd pay her $10 a week. I hate folding and putting away laundry the most. I don't really mind doing the laundry.

My daughter started doing all her own laundry in 7th or 8th grade with no help from me. This is what happened many times - I would do laundry, fold it and place it on her bed. All she had to do was take care of it such as put in in her drawers. She would throw it on the floor and when I told her to clean her room, she would pick all the clothes up and throw it in the cellar to be washed. All her dirty and clean clothes would be on the floor together so they all got throw down. I got so sick of seeing all the laundry I just washed thrown back down to be washed again. I warned her but she didn't listen so I stopped washing all her things.

Good morning all. Hope everyone had a nice week.

Have you seen a decrease in the amount of customers at restaurants these days? We eat out a lot and it used to be extremely hard to get in anyplace on a Fri or Sat night without waiting an hour. Lately we've been able to walk right in and the restaurants are half full. It would seem that the economy is causing folks to eat out less and restaurants are suffering.

That is interesting. It doesn't surprise me, but I wouldn't know b/c we don't eat out.

I've noticed a small decrease, but we tend to eat out on "Kids eat free" nights which is still very popular or earlier in the night before the after-work crowds arrive. One restaurant that we usually had to wait for was still full, but with a small wait. We eat out way more than we should.

Yes and no. Certain restaurants we've gone to recently have been busy as (or busier than) usual. We went to the Cheesecake Factory at Providence Place Mall last weekend and had an hour and twenty-five minute wait. However, a couple of weeks back, we literally walked into an Outback steakhouse at the dinner rush and it was a ghost town in there.

This economy is hurting everyone to some degree, I think. And I have to say, as happy as I am to see gas at $2.49/gallon in my area, I'd honestly rather pay more if it meant I wasn't losing 25% on my 401K/quarter!!! :scared1:

My husband brought his 401k statement home the other day. He told me he had it and I said "I don't even want to look at it, put it away." Too depressing.

My DH has a loan out against his 401K!.....so how do ya think that's farin' these days?!!! :rotfl:

Oy.

So hi all you happy peepuls!!!!!!! Just checking in since I've been scarce around here lately. Just busy is all. My gloom of the other day has mostly lifted. Life is what it is and what you can't change, there's no point in getting your panties in a bunch over it, kwim?

Weather here today is supposed to be gorgeous (think autumn in the northeast gorgeous, not mid-80s Florida gorgeous.....but I'll take what I can get!). We are going to head out for the day and enjoy it. Not sure exactly what we're doing but I'm hoping to find an apple orchard somewhere along the way. Picking is over but there are still plenty to buy! Gotta get my local Macouns for this year. :goodvibes If I take any neat pictures I'll post them later on!

Glad to hear your fog has lifted a bit. I'm sure that beautiful weather helps. I always feel better when the weather is nice.

I'm headed out with my friends to take our daughters to see HSM3. The girls slept over here last night and I'm driving to meet the moms at the movie. I've heard the movie is pretty good. I consider it today's "Grease" which is one of my all time favorite movies. Though it seems Disney did a much better job with their sequels than that stinker "Grease 2".

Yes. Lunch seems to be incredibly busy, but we are not having to wait to get into many at dinner. We were at Rubvy Tuesday Friday night and they only had about half the table full.

:offtopic: I hope that everyone else is having a good weekend.

On Friday there was a bank robbery one county away. The 3 robbers had a high speed chase, with gunfire, with the police. They crashed in my county right near a big interchange that I pass by when I take DD to meet up with her dad for the weekend. No problem, I could use the toll road.

When on the toll road, my engine started racing and the car started slowing down. I pulled over, turned off the car for a minute or so and restarted the car. It didn't want to go in reverse, drive, intermediate, or low. I put it back in drive and thankfully it went. I made it to the drop-off and home ok.

Sat. it was raining and I went out to get the mail. I took my whole keychain, thankfully, put on my raincoat and got my umbrella out of the car. When I came back after getting the mail, the front door didn't want to open. It was unlocked, it just didn't want to open. I had no shoes, no socks, no cell, no purse with me. After driving to my parents house, they weren't home. I knew the code to get into the garage, grabbed the keys they had and went to a friends' house to see if she had a backdoor key. No such luck. I went home and tried the key I grabbed from my parents house on the back door. You guessed it, no luck.

Thankfully my one neighbor was able to get the door open for my so I didn't have to get a locksmith.

Before the whole mess started on Sat. the ex had called wanting me to get some sweatpants and some shirts for DD so she can have them at his house. They couldn't find anything were he's at despite a regular mall, an outlet mall, KMart, and a Goodwill. Last night I went to the Volunteers of America, found nothing. I found sweatpants and got 2 or three, and some shirts within five minutes. Then to Kohls and I found some shirts withing 10-15 minutes.

Now I'm just waiting for the third bad thing to happen. I'm kinda scared to go out, I just want to stay in bed all day with the covers up to my eyes.

Ok, vent over. Proceed with your nice weekend.
