Morning everybody! I hope Smiley Bug, Master Gracy, Metro West and others can join us real soon.
For those of you still here I need advice and support about work. You helped me a lot last October when I was deciding to take the job I have now, so I know you will help me with this one. I'll warn you, it's a long story.
Just a few months after I started working for this company I was promoted to a supervisory position. It upset a lot of folks in the department who felt I am inexperienced and undeserving. My employees, who at the time were all male, do not like me because of the promotion. They worked hard to get the job done, but gave me a hard time whenever and wherever they could. I knew they were trying to get the best of me, never played into their game and constantly reminded them of who's in charge.
Last October, our 3rd shift supervisor was promoted out of the department. His departure was significant as he played an integral role as the department's inventory management guru.
I was surprised and excited when my boss asked if I was interested in the position. After everything I went through with the 2nd shift team of males (who act like boys), I was happy to know that my light still shines and the hard work was noticed - despite the naysayers. I was nervous about working 3rd shift but you helped me and gave me great advice. I knew in my heart (gut)

that taking the job would be good for my career with the company. It was a lateral move, but came with more responsibility so I was able to negotiate a raise.
