I'll try it this weekend if not before.

I'm trying not to kill my DD12. Man, the teenage years have started early.

You're scaring me! :scared:

Hey! We made another new page. Look at us go.

Good Wednesday morning DISers!!!

It's hump day....finally!

(I don't work in an office but if I did, that would be me
in the middle....on the DIS of course!)

I was dreamin' 'bout my man in the wee hours this morning before I got up! :lovestruc To quote Tinkerbell from "Hook" - You know that place between asleep and awake?....that's where I'll always love you!

*sigh*

And now, back to your regularly scheduled reality....

So I was just checking the radar and our forecast and I noticed that my poor kid at camp is getting slammed with yet another storm out in NY this morning. I really hope the weather takes a turn and improves for next week! Mostly what they get out there, we end up with here, and I'm pretty tired of all the rain. I haven't been able to hang out laundry to dry and my other two have been stuck in the house! Although last night after dinner it was pouring but no lightning, so they went outside to the garage and ran in and out of that, getting totally soaked. I let them - it was warm and they were getting some exercise!!

.

Yesterdays jury duty was....not. :lmao: We sat for about an hour and then the judge dismissed us. The parties settled out of court. We were told to be back at 2:00 for another case. Well guess what? The same thing happened again. I'm glad that the parties involved were able to settle their problems. Yesterday was a bad day for me. I wasn't feeling well at all. So I guess it all worked out for the best. :thumbsup2

Do you have to go back again or is that it? I dread my number coming up again. I was called a couple of years ago and had a really bad time of it - I was having child-care issues but you HAVE to show up. So I was able to cover that first morning and had to go explain everything to the bailiff (or whoever she was) who was very very nice, but I still had to go into the courtroom while everyone got called from the pool, and when I got called there, I had to now explain to the judge why I couldn't come the rest of that week. She was a total witch with zero sympathy for anyone (yeesh...I wouldn't want her trying my case!!) and I got off but I was in tears before it was over...:sad2:

I've always had a problem with jury duty anyway. They get people's names from those who are registered voters. You vote because you CAN, not because you must. And yet if you don't show up for jury duty when called, you can be fined AND serve jail time...! That doesn't sound like freedom to me.

Yesterday was it. At least until I'm called again. I don't mind. But I don't have child care to worry about. Or the fact that I am not able to work that day and may loose a day of pay. Hubby says that the employers are not required to pay for that day of missed work. They just have to give the day off. I think that is sad.

Good morning SadieDog!! I hope the heat isn't getting to you to bad today.

Weird, the double quote option was not there a minute ago and now it appeared.

I hope your son gets some good weather. My kids used to like to run to the end of the driveway and back when it was pouring too.

Good morning SadieDog!! I hope the heat isn't getting to you to bad today.

It has not been too bad temp wise, but pretty muggy. My daughter and I took the dogs to obedience last night and my boy was drooling up a storm while waiting outside b/c it was too humid for him. Once we got inside, he stopped. Thankfully.

I should paint my entryway today with the 1st coat of paint. It has 2 coats of primer. I had to scrub the walls, doors and trim yesterday b/c the dogs got it all muddy. Did not enjoy that. The room has 4 doors so it takes a lot longer than you think. Man, I'm sick of painting.

I bet you are tired of painting. But what color are you using? I want to paint but I can't decide on what colors. I have been thinking about trying some of the deep jewel tones. I have a friend that has done some of her rooms in deep colors and they are so pretty. I want my walls to look aged so I would have to use a glaze or watered down paint to sponge over them. I'm trying to decide. As a matter of fact I'm going to Lowes this morning to look at samples. Which by the way I have to get going. I have to go grocery shopping as well. I want to get back home before it gets to hot.

I bet the deep jewel tones are pretty. I did not have a choice of color. I asked my mother what she had for extra paint and went with that. The free paint goes with my free tiles my husbands brother gave us. :rotfl: It's a weird tan with a hint of peach/pink. She gave me 2 containers. 1 she added white to make it lighter for her bedroom and that willl be my walls. The darker one will be the doors and trim. That's the color she has in her living room. I didn't really care what color it was as long as it was not pink. I figured anything would be an improvement.

Legomom - I hope your son isn't too waterlogged at camp.

It's been raining here like usual, big quick thunderstorms in the afternoon. I like it because it keeps the heat down a bit. Though it does make it more muggy. My poor hair.

Smileybug - glad you didn't stuck on some long case. I actually wouldn't mind being called, but I'd have childcare issues like Legomom did.

Sadie - Good luck with the painting!

I'm heading out to free movie day today. So I better get it in gear, but I can't get my DD8 off the toilet. The child likes to take her time.

This isn't the case for all employers. My employer (a very large firm) pays for up to three (I think) days of jury duty. If you are put on a jury for a case that will last longer than that, the government is required to pay you per day, however I'm pretty sure it's at a lower rate than your standard wages.

Good morning everyone!

Maria - Kitty still nameless?

Sadie - Oh how I would love to be painting my apartment but, alas. Our landlord won't allow it so we're stuck with boring off white.

I'm so glad that you work for a company that will pay. You are very fortunate. :thumbsup2 How are things going for you?

Nope, not going well. The cans were dented and rusty around the top. My mother tried putting plastic wrap on before closing the lid, but it didn't help. When I opened the covers, a lot of chipped rust and black flecks fell into the paint. No wonder my mother said I could have those 2 cans. :rotfl2: Those are the only 2 cans she has that are no good. I really wanted to finish that room so we could start with the tile. I have a dark blue that is my sons bedroom walls. I wonder if by any chance I have a can of white then I could add a little blue to tint it. UGH
