As mysteriously as it disappeared, my HD channels have returned.... Well no complaints here!! If it stays that way into tomorrow, I'll cancel the tech guy. I guess the dish just finally found the right satellite!

So, I was at Borders today. Went straight for the U.S. Travel section. Found two shelves full of books on Florida, and one dedicated to Disney. And then I discovered, I've read all this info already! Getting the Official guide would have just been for the fun of the pictures and maybe a new restaurant description or two. The Unofficial guide is full of all the info I have in my PassPorter.

Yikes!!!!....am I that much of a Disney nerd, that I didn't find any "new" info in the Disney book section at Border's?!?!?!....

I think I need to find a hobby....

Hey everyone!! LegoMom, you need to start a Disney nerd thread. Actually it should be ...Disney nerds looking for scrolling tags. (Or any tags) I love the PassPorter. It's my favorite Disney book.

You have simply got to find a PassPorter!! They have everything and anything you could ever need to help you plan the perfect Disney vacation. It even keeps you organized. If your local bookstore doesn't carry them. You can go to Amazon and order one. It comes in 2 versions. One is a hard paperback spiral and the other is a leather bound 3 ring notebook type. (guess which one I have. ) Birnbaums is a great book also. I'm just very attached to the PassPorter. I guess my second would be the Unofficial Guide. I love to plan a trip almost as much as going. (almost )

Oh girl, you are SO missing out! Totally different from Birnbaums! I love Birnbaum's (although I loved it better in the late 80s when I bought my first one, and Steve Birnbaum was still alive and still writing his own guide; I loved his style and it's just got a different flavor now).

ANYWHO!...here is a link to the official PassPorter site, so you can see the book first hand....however, they are out-of-stock at their on-line store and according to the e-mail I got from them earlier, you can now only get the 2008 edition in bookstores (I know Borders has them!!)...

It is a very interactive guide. There are all sorts of planning charts, packing checklists, detailed descriptions of everything, and really neat fold-out maps. At the back they have what are called PassPockets, which you can customize for each day of your trip. They are actual pockets that can hold park maps, receipts, etc. and you can jot down things you remember about that day, funny moments, keep track of expenses, photos you took... ANY thing!

I tried the Elvis Reeses, but I didn't know they came out with peanut butter and banana M&M's!

I still don't get it!!..... are you talking about the link I posted??? I've only ever not been able to post a link to the Unofficial site (it competes with TourGuide Mike, who's the official DIS sponser, as we all know... ).

The PassPorter site is just another Disney info site; they don't offer any tour*ng p1ans and there's nothing offensive or devisive about it so I wouldn't think you'd need to be nervous about that! Their message boards are actually VERY friendly.

Of course, if I suddenly disappear from this thread.....

PassPorter sounds like a great book. Thanks. Do you know about how much it is? I didn't notice the price on the link you sent me. I just saw that it was out of stock. My Barnes and Noble might carry it.

Mine has $22.95 printed on the back cover. There is also a Deluxe version which I think I've seen in stores. Same info but it's in 3-ring binder version instead of spiral-bound (so you can take your maps or pockets out without tearing them, or add in stuff you print out from their site). It has a faux-leather cover and a pen holder, and I think that one is over $40 (just a heads-up, in case you go to B & N and see one!).
