Good evening.

I'm killing time until Hell's Kitchen starts. It's been hard getting on the computer with teens home.

GOOD NEWS - I found out last week. We FINALLY found out my daughter has a dorm room. I was very stressed about it. Here it was 4 weeks before she was supposed to go away to college and we still didn't know if she had a room. Her friend is still waiting to know and they move in Aug 29th. That is ridiculous. Everyone else has known they had a dorm for months.

If my daughter didn't get a room, she couldn't have gone there and we would have had to do some major last minute scrambling to get her into our local community college in time. The one near me does not have dorms. She will be attending a community college with limited dorms. They only have 409 beds. OMG my daughter is going AWAY TO COLLEGE soon. Didn't she just start kindergarten?

That's funny. I sent a check to my daughters college today too. Even though she borrowed the maximum $5,500 and has grants, she is still $2,000 short. That's $2,000 short for the year, not per semester. The balance you have left over for the semester is divided into 3 monthly payments. Good thing she decided to go with a community college. She never would have been able to afford a state university.

I am hoping she can become a RA for next year too. It would save $8,000 room and board fee. Good luck with becoming an RA!

That's great you had some stock to sell to help you out. My daughter does not have anything like that. We will do what we can to help, but we don't have a lot of extra.

Yeah I got lucky on that one. I invested in a company my family used to own. With the economy being so bad it's not worth one fifth of what it used to be but I sold it while I could. Your DD will do great though. Community college is a smart choice. I did that for a semester and got some of the core classes out of the way for cheap and in a small classroom. I am excited and anxious.. I have to fly on business and I HATE to fly!!! But excited that I am going away on a business trip!!

Now about flying? I have flown twice now and I HATE it! How can i get over this is there something I can take?
