Well, I emailed the ex and explained the situation to him. He is willing to switch weekends with me. So, DD & I will go on vacation with my parents. Now the whirlwind packing starts.

I'm so glad that worked out for you.

..yes. yes it is.....

Well, at least I'm on target this week.

Micheal Jackson has died of cardiac arrest.

Guys, please don't laugh at me. I'm really, really upset about this. I shed quite a few tears tonight over his passing. I grew up listening to his music, even did portraits of him from magazines as a kid. I called one of my best guy friends from my childhood (one of the only ones I still know) and just told him, he didn't know. We talked about it and I feel better, but still just so saddened by this news.

You aren't the only one. Looking at my Facebook page, lots of people are really upset.

I can't even tell you how many childhood memories (and teenage ones) I have of listening to his music. I remember being a kid on the floor in my sister's room when the carpet was still this god awful pink and she and I listening to the Thriller album. It was a record.

My son won't even know what one is, you know?

Thriller, Billie Jean...oh god, I could go on and on naming songs. And memories, and times that I think of him.

It's truly, truly a great loss, and not just for this country. He was loved globally. I can only imagine the types of memorials that will take place.

I'm very saddend by his death. I remember waiting up to watch the Thriller video when it first came on. I used to be in Junior Achievement and there was this girl in a wheelchair who LOVED, LOVED, LOVED Michael. She was African American and propped herself up in her wheelchair to make it look like she was standing and did one of Michaels' songs for her high school's talent shows.

Do you remember when the premiered Black or White after that episode of the Simpsons? And that was the first time they'd ever done that type of morphing technology in a video?

That was amazing technology at the time.

I remember watching the premiere of Thriller with my best friend Kim. We were scared to death for the rest of the night.

Ooo, Ooo, more facebook people? PM me if want my name. I won't take it personal if you don't.

For sure I will!

It's a little crazy in ye ole TK homestead right now. DS starts his first days of a new preschool this week (2 full days) which is exciting and nervewracking all at the same time. Of course, he's thrilled, so that helps a lot. "I go to my new school??" :goodvibes

I'm in the process of researching different colleges on the internet because I'm looking to go back to school. I'd like to get certified to teach. I already have a BFA, but I'd prefer not to teach art, so that throws a little wrench into the proceedings. And, you wouldn't believe how hard it is to find a school that has programs for non-traditional (ie working) students! It's getting mildly frustrating. One good thing I discovered yesterday is that because of my SAT scores, I wouldn't have to take the Praxis I, which is sort of like an entry type exam to make sure you have the knowledge to move on to certification or a masters in education. So that's a plus! :goodvibes

Wow, sounds like you have a lot going on. Congrats on DS and his new preschool! It is unbelievably hard to work and go to school these days. It's really a shame because it makes furthering education almost impossible for a lot of people. I'll keep my fingers crossed that you find the right school!

See....When will school start for you? Have you started shoppng for all the things you are going to need yet?

School starts on Sept. 3rd. I think I will find out the materials I need for each class as it gets closer or possibly even on the first day. Luckily there's an art supply shop across the street from school!

Well everyone it was a tough day. Orientation for my summer job was long but hearing about Michael Jackson really put a damper on my day. What a shame to lose such a wonderful artist.

Anyways, I hope everyone is doing okay.

OMG, I remember the premiere, too. The Vincent Price laugh at the end and the yellow eyes. Boy did that freak me out.

You know, I'd really have to say that began my obsession with Vincent Price, my love of scary which evolved into a love of all things Tim Burton. It's funny how something like that takes root and can bring into something else, like Disney's Nightmare Before Christmas.

Thanks! Not sure if I wrote it here because of the shock I was in yesterday, but DS had an amazing first day at school. Huge weight off my shoulders. And thanks for the well wishes for me. I'm sure I'll find something.:goodvibes

You're bringing back such fond memories for me. You write about school all you want, I love to listen! And if you have any questions or every want to talk about art, you feel free. PM me if you don't want to post it. :goodvibes

I'm with you, hon.

It's raining here in Epcot! But we're still having fun waiting in the character spot to see Mickey. Apparently while I am away all kinds of news is happening. I was sorry to hear about Michael Jackson and Farrah Fawcett. And no words can share my disgust over Mark Sanford. I may be a North Carolinian now, but my home is South Carolina and I feel ashamed for them. Anywho, I hope all of you are having a great Friday. TK, I am glad your son enjoyed his first day. And Mean Queen, isn't your cruise coming up soon? I thought about it when I saw the dcl buses today. Have a marvelous day and see yall real soon!

Sorry for all the rain, but it's still fun to hit the parks in an obnoxious yellow poncho. :thumbsup2

We leave Sunday for the cruise. I am all packed and ready to go. DD3 is finally potty trained, though she's still not the greatest about getting her panties back on herself. She had a cupcake party at school today to celebrate going #2 all on her own, all the time. :rotfl2: I guess it gives incentive to the other kids to see you get the party and that your friends are all doing the doo.

Glad to hear DS is doing well at his new school! I can't remember if you mentioned this or not but have you looked into online classes? I know they're pretty good if you have a difficult schedule.

I'm with you, hon.

I still can't believe it. It feels like a dream. Like when Heath Ledger died :sad1:

See you when I get back! I may actually check in from the ship. We're bringing our laptops and will probably get some internet time to check emails.

I am almost completely packed and ready to head for the port. But we don't leave until tomorrow morning. :sad2:

Hi. Hope everyone is doing well. My friend and her family left today after being here a week. Before she got here, I was working non-stop. After daycare I worked on house projects every night until bed. At least the house looked decent for my daughters graduation party last Sat. Last Monday was my son's 8th grade evening where they introduced everyone seperately and gave out awards. Tuesday night we had a little make your own sundae thing for him celebrating the fact he passed 8th grade and will be going into high school. :lmao: He was doing so poorly much of the year, it was questionable. When he started the low dose of Focalin, it made a big difference. He does NOT take it weekends, holidays or vacations. It's only for school hours.

ENJOY the vacations!!!
