I think you already know what decision is right for you. When I went back to work, I found a preschool for DD that sounds similar to the one you found. Of course, it cost more than most others. But it has been so worth it for her. She has learned so much that I no longer twitch when I see that money come out of our account each month. Plus, I love seeing the friendships develop. She gets to school and her friends hug her and she leaves wihout a look back. Getting the right school is worth the cost. Don't let the family drama get you down.

You're right. I know in my head as long as we go look at this place and it looks good and DS likes it then he's going there. It's just the huge fallout that I'm afraid of.

TK - I think you should present it to your mom as an opportunity you can't miss, rather than anything to do with her. If this school is great, openings may be rare. Take it while you can. This is a good starter before your son has to go to kindergarten.

That's really how I feel about it. With class sizes being so small, it isn't the easiest place to get into, so it almost seems like fate at this point. Something is open, we can afford it (although it'll eat up my pay check but at least I won't run a deficit), and it'll be SO beneficial for him.

I think if you put it like that to your mom, you will minimize the drama. If she complains about losing time with your son, you can always offer to have her watch him while you go on a date with your DH.

You sanitize your house? Gees, I'm just happy if I'm able to get out of the house without locking a cat in a room without food, water or litter box.

Do the packing, do a light sanitize, and make sure all animals are able to use the correct rest area rather than your bed. You'll be fine and you'll have lots of fun.

Don't freak out, my dear! Think of how soon you'll be in your happy place. What gets done, gets done, and what doesn't...well...doesn't.

I'm the same way actually. I like to do at least a light clean of the house before we leave. Nothing like coming home to a clean house.
