Didn't catch the Kentucky Derby. I usually love to see all the hats people wear. Kind of like watching the commercials for the Super Bowl, an event within the event.

DH thinks we're meeting my dad before the baseball game for lunch and drinks. We told him my dad's wife has to leave on a business trip, so she won't be here on his birthday. Instead, we'll meet pretty much everyone but my dad. He called and said he was too worried about getting his wife to the airport on time so he's missing my DH's surprise party (that he helped pay for.) Got to say, his wife has never been a favorite of mine and she just went down the list further. She could have taken a cab or airport Limo so my dad didn't miss the party. Then I find out my grandparent's can't make it because my grandmother got a cold from a cruise they just took. That I understand, but I have no way of getting the tickets so some of DH's friends I told we had no tickets could still go. Ugh. I hate planning big events. I just hope the Rays win. (Sorry LegoMom.)

Hoping the Rays win, Mean Queen? Ya should be apologizing to me, too, lol!

Sorry to hear about the mess surrounding the birthday party, though. Ain't family grand?

What a race!! :banana: "Mine that Bird" was incredible. Talking about coming from behind. WOW!!!!!

I got back to my dad's yesterday just in time to watch the replay.....gotta love a come-from-behind win like that! This almost seems to be a pattern in the Derby in recent years, but unfortunately it doesn't carry over to the Preakness and Belmont. I've given up all hope of ever seeing another Triple Crown sweep in my lifetime.... I had such high hopes for Barbaro; he was a powerhouse if you really watched him run!

You don't have to apologize to me, but I won't tell DH you said that!;) I hope for your sakes that the Rays DO win! (oops!...don't tell DH that I said that!!:rotfl:)

I didn't know you were a Red Sox fan. :scared1: Guess you wouldn't have been happy with the outcome. It was an exciting game and the Rays won. I was so glad because I didn't want anything to cloud DH's big event. He was very surprised. Especially about his friend from Jacksonville who drove all the way here and back just for the game/party. He told me the "party" I threw last night really threw him off. He thought that was his big party. So when he saw such a huge group today he was blown away. When he found out I got 30 tickets together for a Rays/Sox game he was even more blown away. The game was sold out. Tomorrow is his actual birthday. Originally, I was going to take the kids out of school and head to Disney so DH could get his gift card. But DD has a big standardized test on Monday. We found out Friday. :confused3

I hope everyone else had a great weekend.

Oh, pffffttt!....test, shmest. If your DH is turning 40 tomorrow then he NEEDS to be at Disney World!

Just my little teeny humble opinion, is all....

So we went up to DTD yesterday. I took a bunch of pictures but I can't upload any of them so that's that. This DSL connection leaves much to be desired! I wanted cable, but there are no existing jacks in the house and right now I can't pay for a technician to come do that.

Anyway, we stopped at Starbucks on our way out! From there to our exit at Disney took an hour and 20 minutes. Interesting little display of old Airstream campers along the way....

That's our ritual! Nice, huh? Her test is a state wide standardized test to determine her progress from the beginning of the year to the end (SAT 10's). Otherwise, I'd let her miss.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY

Good morning, good people!

Did you miss us?

Well, the TK family is finally better. Thankfully, DH never got the nasty stomach virus that ravaged DS and myself, so bully for him. :thumbsup2 I had a particularly trying week at work that I have no desire to discuss other than to say it's making it very difficult for me to keep a positive outlook. There are a couple of people there who are very, very negative, and really enjoy surrounding themselves with all manner of conflict and drama. I know we've all known people like that. Maybe someone (Smileybug, you're so positive!) can give me some sage advice on how to happily ignore it.

Anyhoo, I'm glad to have a couple of days off to recuperate from the negative nellies, so to speak. And getting to spend some time with my son, everyone being well and no longer sick, well that's just healing for the soul. I'm thinking we may head out to a playground today, not sure. Or we could just have a jammie day. I haven't had a jammie day in a long time.

How's everybody else doing? :goodvibes
