OK . . so I've been reading about the TIW and I'm thinking about getting it. I'm going next week (5 days) with some friends and then we are going back in September (just the two of us) for 4 maybe five park days but 10 days total. We do plan on eating at some of the resorts (besides eating in the parks) on some of our nonpark days. With DVC we will get it for $100. Do you think it's worth it? TIA

I paid only $75 with the DVC discount and it was definitely worth it. We went with my DS and DDIL and they like sit down meals. We saved enough to pay for the card in four days, so our fall trip is pure savings.

The cost of TiW is either $75 for Annual Passholders or $100 for Florida Residents/DVC members. So the break-even point is $75 / 20% = $375 or $100 / 20% = $500 in before discount restaurant spending. Its not at all difficult to reach those numbers for a party of 2 adults that like to do nice sit-down restaurants and enjoy an adult beverage with their meal.

Here is a working example, using $100.00 as the original bill to make the math show up easily. Note this is for Table Service. At Counter Service there is no gratuity added.

100.00 - Original Menu Amount
*20.00 - Discount
*80.00 - Subtotal
*18.00 - Gratuity Added based on $100
**5.20 - Sales Tax on $80
103.20 - Final amount charged, takes into consideration discount, gratuity and tax.

Without TiW Discount (and still figuring 18% Gratuity)

100.00 - Original Menu Amount
*18.00 - Gratuity
**6.50 - Sales Tax on $100
124.50 - Total

$21.30 - Savings using TiW Card.

(Note - At Victoria and Albert's the added gratuity is 20% instead of 18%.)

We love using TIW. The best part is that in addition to a discount on food, you get to use it for alcohol at sit down restaurants. We saved so much money since we would get a bottle with dinner at the signature restaurants. It paid itself off.

Another vote for TIW. We use it anywhere they will take it. The special perk as you've read, is the 20% applied to alcohol purchases.

When it first came out the card/program was poorly understood by Disney staff. We had to argue every single time we used it and it spoiled the experience for us.

Now though, with the passing of years, the CMs understand the card and we no longer have to argue.

Do be alert to the names on the TIW card and any credit card you may use. Sometimes the server will insist both cards have to be in the TIW name. Just ask for a manager and it will be resolved.
