Tables in Wonderland

Not sure why I got this comment "That's assuming you're not going to tip" Never was one word mentioned I was not going to tip I was figuring that information into the formula to understand any saving I would get. And to clearify to you my daughter and grand daughter are both waitress and work for tip so I am the last person to not tip after eating out. But I feel to get a true saving all expenses should be counted into the formula.

If your entree costs $20 without the card, it will cost $16 with the card. That's a four dollar savings. The tip is on top of that, which you said you're going to pay anyway, right?

Why does it matter if you add the tip or if Disney adds the tip? You're still saving off the cost of the meal.

Again, exactly. I don't think the poster who commented about not leaving a tip meant to insult you about being cheap or anything. They were just commenting that you are not including tip in your calculations WITHOUT using the TIW discount.

I was pointing in my post that if you are a 20% tipper, this actually saves you even more. Even if you tip 15%, take a $20 item, add tip and you pay $23. If you have TIW, you pay $16 for the item and added gratuity at 18% comes to $2.88. So you pay $18.88. That is a $4.12 savings. If you were a 20% tipper, you would save $5.12. The added gratuity is a non factor, unless you don't tip. That's all they were explaining to you. I might be calculating this wrong. I'm not positive if they add the tip to the original price, or the discount. That would change your savings to $3.40 or $4.40 depending on the percentage you usually tip.

I haven't come across anyone who is blatantly insulting on these boards. Just passing along information. The problem with text is that you add your own interpretation to the words. If it was a spoken conversation, I'm sure it would seem as insulting.

I am confused and just want to be clear. Has anyone purchased the TIW card WITHOUT being a AP holder or a Florida Resident. I had a lengthly conversation with Member Services and they have stated WITHOUT A DOUBT that TIW cards are NOT yet available to DVC members unless they are also AP holders or Florida residents. If you did purchase the card please let me know when and where. Thanks.

It's not available yet for DVC owners. You need to have an AP or be a FL resident at this time to purchase the TiW card. Most reports say that it will be available to DVC owners in "spring 2012." Nothing official has been announced yet.

I think that the above posts are pretty clear that more than one person purchased the TIW card with a DVC ID for $100.

Disney is very slow at getting their people on the same page about policies and changes.

Thanks George and Bill. Unfortunately I remain confused. It appears that the people who posted that they bought the tiw were also ap holders. I'm looking for confirmation that someone bought tiw with ONLY dvc membership.

I have seen several posts where this has worked. It is 100 vs 75 for AP holders.

I am not an AP holder and was able to purchase the TiW card for $100. It even says DVC member on the back of it.

Unfortunately, I promptly lost it on Kilimanjaro Safari while pulling something out of my pocket. So, I only got $50 out of it. Amazingly, the one thing I couldn't lose, I lost. I even had the receipt of the BBQ meal I had just purchased.

Awesome. Thank you!

You can have it replaced. Just go to Guest Services at any park or at Downtown Disney.

Sadly, the replacement fee for a lost card is $50. They are very firm about this and will warn you when you make this purchase. They do now give you a sleeve to keep it in. I put a sticker on my TiW card, because once I was given someone elses card, but caught the mistake right away before leaving the restraurant. By having a sticker on the front I know it's mine right away. I wish they would waive the replacement fee, especially since it shows up in the computer, but they won't.

Correct, I was not willing to pay another $50 to replace the card at this point. I am going back later this year for business, so I may replace it then.

I think it is silly that they don't just replace it as they can replace a park ticket with no problems. And they ask for IDs when you use it, so there should be little fraud.

I spoke with DVC membership today and the other day, and according to them, the Tables In Wonderland is not yet available to DVC members.

Where exactly did the DVC member (not Fla resident and not AP holder)
buy it?? I thought they said they got it at Guest Services at Hollywood
Studios. Is that true? Did any other member get it anywhere else?

I arrive at WDW in two weeks and would LOVE to have it without gettting
an AP.

Please let us know what venues are selling it to DVC members.

Thanks, Michele

I don't have the Disney expertise as some her do, but even in my experience, Disney does always seem to spread the word quickly on little things. There have been numerous people on here saying they got it as DVC members. Go to guest services at the first park you go to and ask. The worst they can say is no.

I'm guessing it's available if you ask, but an official announcement that it is available has not come yet. I don't think people would say they got it when they didn't, just to keep a message board going.

Two people posted that they were able to buy TIW without AP or Florida residence. One got it at HS and one at AK. I tried at Epcot and was told "only ap or florida."

Well that is very frustrating....did you try another location?

No, after two calls prior to my trip to Disney and being told "no" once, I believed them. I have called member services twice since I returned and saw the posts, but they still say it doesn't exist. I have a call into tiw and am waiting for them to call me back.
